Interesting how a second Google search gave different results. Evidently, the red car above is not a factory concept as I originally learned but, as TurboKitty mentioned, is a custom job done by an independent auto company... "This custom Chevelle was made by Aloha Auto. They took brand new Pontiac GTO and Chevellefied its body. HRSS454 Chevelle is powered by asphalt-chewing 600 HP engine. Our guess is that most of Chevelle enthusiasts would vote for not continuing Aloha’s planned 40 unit run… Let’s hope that Chevelle transformations will be much better in the future or Chevelle will be revealed by Chevrolet themselves in near 2011 or 2012." http://www.amcarguid...hevelle-failed/

Works for me if the Mother brand has a strong enough image. For example, the only sub-brand "name" I can remember for BMW is the Bavaria, with everything else being numbers and letters since the beginning. Series numbers seem to work quite well for many manufacturers, such as the BMW 3, 5 and 6 series cars. But the subject is American cars, with a long history of names that evoke certain images in consumers' minds, and giant brands like Chevrolet that require a bit more differentiation.

The name game has more to do with whatever marketing strategy they're looking at than failure to come up with names. Evidently, internal corporate nostalgia is at the forefront these days. As an ad agency creative professional, I have spent eons of time coming up with names for everything from potato chips to Sea Ray, Boston Whaler and other boat models, and I can assure you that the automobile manufacturers have thousands of unused names in their inventories that they and other types of companies have trademarked (I know, because, especially for boat names, my trademark application research hit many dead ends thanks to unused names that were already spoken for).

Great stuff, a terrific resource very well explained. Now I can open up the PS Elements application that's been sitting in my hard drive for three years.

Just a digression...Since I'm in advertising and graphic arts, you got me interested in looking into the bowtie design, and while the version you mentioned is most accepted (from hotel wallpaper, not necessarily the bathroom), there are two other versions here plus interesting backgrounds of 4 other car logos. http://designshack.n...mous-car-logos/ Just to get back on track, that's a beautiful truck and quite an achievement for a first build.

That clunky kit was also boxed in a "Phantom Squire" version, which varied simply by having ugly side decals to make it a woody. The one I have was mislabeled on the box as being 1:16 when it was the same old 1:24 - - there never was a 1:16 version. Maybe they were planning to do one and scrapped the idea, forgetting to change the box art. I wonder if that adds value. This pretty much tells the story of that kit - small tires, too-large Flying Lady, little detail. http://www.modelcarsonline.com/Galleries/Imports/1962%20Rolls%20Royce%20Silver%20Cloud/1962%20Rolls%20Royce%20Silver%20Cloud.htm

Thank you. I also had to figure out that I had to hit Enter on the keyboard to submit the vote. Too complicated - haven't seen a poll work like this before.
-
Just for the record...
-
When I click on Vote I get an error message. This is all I can see. Where should I look for the O to vote?
-
Must not work on Mac. I don't see an O next to any picture.
-
Just to bump this up, I figured out how to see results, but I can't see any clues on how to vote.
-
When I click on vote or see results, I don't get anything. EDIT: Okay, I can see results, but I can't see how to vote.

The car was based on the 500K roadster, but enclosed cars with hardtops are, or were, referred to over there as limousines. So it was labeled as a roadster limousine on the kit box. Only 4 of this body style were built.

I posted this request in General, but really didn't get any experienced responses. I have a set of Model Factory Hiro PE 16" wire wheels, with instructions that are very hard to follow, but the main deal is knowing what glue to apply, and where. Can anyone help with a tutorial?

Can this be turned into a measurable poll like Real or Model, with choices 1-12? It would be much easier to keep and see the score. That said, I followed the Ferrari build and that's my choice.

Great detail work, as usual. Did you scribe around the door handles? They have greater definition than most molded-in ones.

I'm convinced that some sellers work with friends of theirs to jack up the bids. -

I posted this in Real or Model, since I just noticed it. So Harry... Of course, you have your full name in your sig, but..where's your full name under "Full Name?" -
Excellent detail work, nice color scheme. Needs polishing to show off its excellence.
