Another one bites the dust

According to the article, they're owned by Spyker, at least by the people who owned Spyker. -
This time, it's Saab. http://money.cnn.com/2011/12/19/autos/saab_bankrupt/index.htm?iid=HP_LN&hpt=hp_c2

The chrome looks too shiny, but I'll go with real.

if you can do something well with this kit that has never been done before, or at least I haven't seen it, create your own custom mesh for the headlight guards.

MPC 1/12 1930 Bentley Racing Car

Looks like you've also added minor oil leak stains on the oil pan, as I did. As is often heard from Brits, "If it doesn't leak, that means it's out of oil." -
If you're from Wisconsin, the white Christmases you used to know aren't too far in the past.

What's going to be your approach here? Stock, or something more custom?

And "brilliant" translates to "very cool."

MPC 1/12 1930 Bentley Racing Car

Unbelievable. I'm sitting here with my MPC Bentley in my hands and looking at your build, and I am astonished not only by what you've added, but how your paint work alone has added detail and accuracy to the basic kit pieces - the skill with which you've only worked with box stock parts. Then you get into stuff like the plug wire contacts, hoses, wires, throttle linkage and all the other custom parts. And you do it all so fast. -
Nothing wrong with that. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
-
More great work. I don't know how you keep juggling multiple builds at the same time with such wonderful quality.

This is beautiful stuff that I haven't seen before, Jeff, especially the vinyl tops. What was your technique with the tops?

Now everyone can feel better about using "Xmas" in their tweets to keep the character count down.

I also wish everyone a happy everything during this season. One thing I'd like to mention, that I learned during Bible studies many decades ago...that is, that "X" in this use is the Greek letter "chi," which stands for Christ. "Xmas" is a common abbreviation of the word "Christmas". It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksməs/, but it, and variants such as "Xtemass", originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /ˈkrɪsməs/. The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for "Mass",[1] while the "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as "Christ".[2] There is a common misconception that the word Xmas is a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas[3] by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas". It's also interesting to read about the use of the "chi" in the ichthus fish symbol, and the meaning of "IXOUS" as code among early Christians during their persecution. http://www.abideinchrist.com/selah/sep4.html

Wood Grain Decals " Woody " specially

Right. You just have to read between the lines. "Yardstick," for example should be "scale." -
That makes sense. When storing some of my Mac OSX files on an external hard drive or flash drive, I've had to go in and laboriously change the filenames because they can't be copied. And it's important to me to get the filenames right because I share them with Windows users (much more sensitive to illegal characters). According to one source, the following characters are "illegal" on Windows filenames: "The Windows operating system can use two different file systems, Protected-Mode File Allocation Table (FAT) file system and the New Technology File System (NTFS). The two systems have much in common, but the characters permitted in a file or folder name may differ. In the conventions listed below, it is true for both systems unless otherwise specified. Specifically there are cases where NTFS does not have the limitations (see note below). The following characters are invalid as file or folder names on Windows using NTFS: / ? < > \ : * | ” and any character you can type with the Ctrl key In addition to the above illegal characters the caret ^ is also not permitted under Windows Operating Systems using the FAT file system The only illegal character for file and folder names in Mac OS X is the colon “:” File and folder names are not permitted to begin with a dot “.” (However, when moving my Mac files, I have found that "&" is also illegal. In general, I follow the naming rules for Windows.) And once again, don't leave spaces between characters in filenames. I'm sure Dave can add to this or clear up stuff.

That's what I thought, but the year ID is all over the place with differences in side markers and wraparound taillights or flush. Most variations here are all listed as 1970. http://www.madle.org/emontemus.htm

The extension ID, in this case indicating different types of image files, is the abbreviation after the period. It's like having .doc at the end of a name of a Word file. Pic1.jpg Pic2.png Pic3.gif etc. When I drag the image from the link you provided to my desktop, it has the following file name, which should not be a problem: 6a00d83451f42569e201310fed1067970c-pi.jpg I uploaded it to Photobucket, copied the IMG code, and pasted it right here. The point is, when you're uploading, downloading or sending a file attachment by email, you should really make sure to include the correct extension at the end of the file name.

I didn't see it the first time, either. And it's definitely worth commenting on and congratulations. Maybe it got caught in a flurry of threads and got pushed away from the top onto another page. That happens. Seems that every comment on the thread was during 2 hours on October 28 until you revived it this morning. That means to me that something unique happened.

Reissue Revell Ag Jaguar XK-E. What scale?
sjordan2 replied to Drago's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, I found some info at Brian's Model Cars specifically about the IMAI version, excerpted below. (Note his signature line). Saturday, August 14, 2010 6:17:46 AM GMT The bandai kit is what the Revell kit is based off. I don't know to what extent Revell changed the molds but its quite possible they did. A few of Revell's large scale kits actually came from other manufacturers. Back in the day when they acquired tooling from other manufacturers they used to like to update the kit to improve sales. Such was the case with the 1/12th scale mustang when Revell bought the tooling of Renwall they updated the tooling and released it as a GT350. I'm not sure if this was also the case when they acquired the jag from Bandai. The biggest detail I can think of they changed when they did the mustangs was they added working roll up windows. Does your jag have these? My monogram 1987 release of the kit does. I know they acquired the molds to the jag and the mustang roughly around the same time so my thoughts are if its an upgrade on the mustang its also likely an upgrade on the jag as well. Red Green Current Projects: 1/8 Scale 1979 Trans Am Last edit by BrianP on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 6:21:52 AM GMT RESPONSE: Posts: 2 Joined: 8/13/2010 Saturday, August 14, 2010 9:06:22 PM GMT Ah... I forgot to say that it has all the features of the Revell model plus a working steering wheel, functional rear suspension, opening rear hatch and also its motorized with the motor hidden inside the engine/transmission. These were all features of the Bandai too. Also the box said there was a roadster option available. I have never seen or heard of a 1/8 scale XKE roadster model before that! I'd really be interested in one of those. -

Does anyone have experience with Bandai's 1/8 kit? It's motorized and, unlike the Monogram version, has an opening rear hatch. Any knowledgeable comparisons?
