  1. What if it was a Boston Whaler? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tfj90l0DNg
  2. Mother's bus was a Leyland Titan (and Emma Peel drove a Lotus Elan). My all-time favorite TV series, next to "The Prisoner." http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_13912-Leyland-Titan-PD2-1954.html
  3. I'm dying to see what you guys do with the ad signs on the bus. What an opportunity for both originality and historical reference.
  4. Sometimes, when getting my car back from the shop, I have asked "Is this what passes for Pro Repaired?"
  5. Any one of those would take most modelers a year to come up with such a masterpiece. Keep 'em coming!
  6. Tags and keywords are mostly helpful when you're searching the Web overall, starting from Google, Bing, etc. Here on this specific site, not so much, and our users (including me) are not going to mess with that. But our site search function is not great.
  7. ...we would still have a parade of new General Lee threads... One more reason to hope the Mayans were right about the end of the world.
  8. Sure, there's a curiosity factor, which in general is a waste of time for many of those who check it out. A clear thread title will invite knowledgeable responses from people with experience in the subject, who can offer pertinent comments. The point is, it's always in the best interest of the person who starts the thread to name it so they get the kind of responses that are rewarding or helpful. Don't forget that there are two title opportunities for these threads: the main title, and a subtitle that can add clarity.
  9. Don't eat my baby.
  10. I know how to look at a box, but in the 60s, when I was building car kits all the time, there was never any information on the package like I showed on the bottom of the Galaxie box above.
  11. You've got that straight. Or at least at an angle.
  12. You come from a newer generation, Rick. There's nothing like this on any other kits I've bought. And as I said, I haven't bought new issues of kits in years.
  13. To be fair, even though it's very easy to check out a kit before buying it, if you're looking in a store, the current box top art (unlike the new IMC Chrysler Turbine, etc., that have good descriptions) says nothing about being curbside, and doesn't even mention the scale. I think all pertinent information should be on the main face of the box top. But I haven't bought a new issue kit in years, and I wouldn't know to look on the underside of the box, where my questions would be answered.
  14. I would add that a separate Dukes of Hazzard topic should perhaps be more of an informational minisite, such as "How Do I...". I don't think there's a problem with anyone posting On the Workbench or Under Glass threads in the regular forum for DoH builds. But the same questions keep being asked time after time after time after time af....
  15. I think we and other model forums should establish a permanent topic on the menu called "Everything Dukes of Hazzard." This is NOT a joke. I am totally serious.
  16. That Cobra price is insane. But automobile books tend to be very specialized, cater to collector mania, and rarely go beyond one edition. I bought this book about 5 years ago as reference for the Revell 1/16 Phantom II Continental (hardcover, first edition, used) for around $80. Amazon now lists the same edition at $199, and an unused paperback version is $391. eBay prices will be in a similar range.
  17. Many of these seem to be Ecto 1 wannabes, but there may be some leads here. http://bit.ly/yUTvBt This is described as a Miller-Meteor, which supposedly differs from the Ecto 1 most obviously by having a high-top roof, as opposed the the flat roof of Ecto 1, which was based on a hearse. I like the roof on Chris Mooney's example better.
  18. Why are you playing video games when you live in Yosemite? If I lived there, I'd go all John Muir, live on nuts and berries and commune with nature in its HD glory.
  19. I started out playing Pong and Artillery on a monochrome screen. Eventually did well with Space Invaders, but my skills haven't improved since.
  20. In case you haven't seen it, Speed network is replaying an hour show on the 2011 Pebble Beach auction of awesome Mercedes 500K and 540K, etc., automobiles, interspersed with the 125-year history of Mercedes-Benz. Very slickly produced. Eastern times: Tonight (Sunday) the 15th 11 pm, and Monday morning 3 am. Friday the 20th at 1 pm
  21. Original Poster (sorry if I was obscure)
  22. How about printing out human organs for transplant? Several months ago, I saw a video about printing out human cells using this process. If anyone's interested, the following link is 20-30 minutes long. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/living/2011/07/09/ted.anthony.atala.TED
  23. I can't tell what you're talking about
  24. Too complicated, Ian. And I say that because I have tried your process the morning after a very rough night.
