  1. I just saw the Gremlin kit at Hobbytown USA yesterday, and the box photo was enough to make me retch. Looked like a cheap wind-up toy. My own personal love/hate is the Pyro/Lindberg Auburn Boattail Speedster, which has some inaccurate detail and poor parts fit (just try to get the hood to sit properly), but can be wrestled into a nice-looking model. And it's the only game in town for that car. BTW, has anyone mentioned the Trumpeter '64 Falcon?
  2. Just thought I'd bump this back up since an older one that said FINISHED got bumped and I found it confusing.
  3. What a great idea. White, silver or chrome body?
  4. I hate it when chimpanzees get dissed.
  5. I was just in my local Knoxville Hobbytown USA yesterday and they had one for $44.95. Whether they had more, I don't know (this store only displays one at a time). Probably available from other Hobbytowns even if you need to special order it.
  6. The Japanese modeler, Calkichi, who did the superb black build of the Trumpeter kit (shown earlier on this thread) just posted a '63 Falcon over at SAM. All of his builds and photography are top-notch. http://cs.scaleautomag.com/SCACS/forums/t/101307.aspx
  7. This has been a very cool history, watching your skills progress over the years.
  8. This is looking terrific. The engine seems just right, but the paint seems like it needs a little sanding and polishing.
  9. If you're willing to fudge a bit on the "out of the box" part, there's a new thread in the General section where Jim Gibbons mentioned that Herb Deeks photoetched wires for 1/24-1/25 wheels are available on eBay. I can't tell for sure, but it looks to me like you remove the wire spokes from the rims on the original wheel and put these on, which means you would only replace the clear spoke part. For a Buy It Now of $18, it seems worth it to me – especially when you consider that complete Borrani kits with rims and hubs from Hiroboy cost almost 3 times that. Here's the link that Jim provided: http://cgi.ebay.com/Wire-Wheel-trans-kit-1-25-24-1-32-photo-etch-Borrani-/400147732745?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d2aa9d909
  10. I also would like to know about the upper mounting boss. I need to make the gas lifts for Mercedes Gullwing doors, which are like shocks without the coils.
  11. Nice clean build
  12. This is a very good one from Alex Kustov. His other tutorials are also valuable. http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/Shocks/coils.htm
  13. Wow. Great interior, beautiful paint and grille (are the headlights part of the kit? They're very good). This is going to be terrific.
  14. Very, very nice and one of a kind. Great paint scheme and execution.

  16. This is really a great kit, which I did in my adolescence. Painted it red with yellow under the fenders, based on a picture I saw in a book. I hope you got my PM on this. EDIT: This is the picture I was talking about. I thought it was very unique and not typical of most of them. I brush-painted the yellow on the fenders and wheels and it didn't come out very well.
  17. Jim, I have a 2.6 MB file on a Gullwing with this color scheme, with several pictures of exterior, interior, engine, etc. PM me your normal e-mail address and I'll send you the file. The only thing I can see wrong with this one is that the headliner is not authentic. Depending on the seat color, it would be either a light dove gray or a very light beige.
  18. Pinstripe aside, this is terrific, and I love the shot of the car with the period background. Nice work.
  19. Charlie, I don't know what you mean by this. I cannot recall a single instance where criticism of a build started out with anything less than civility and constructive opinions, without any harshness intended. Generally, the sort of criticisms you are talking about result from responses to a bad reaction by the original poster, such as the reason for this particular thread.
  20. Your builds never cease to amaze me. Props for tackling something I've never seen you do before, and for doing it so well.
  21. Very mean, very cool. Killer job.

    Low down T

Very, very nice and sophisticated. And suddenly it hits me why my Father always referred to any car trunk as "the turtleback."
  23. Really? I don't believe that, based on your continued combativeness. Check out the last post back in the Under Glass section. It's very accurate and what you've been asking for. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43067
  24. I have never seen this kit done with so much attention to detail, and your description of painting the hood is wonderful. I have zero interest in this car, but I have enormous interest in the way you're building it. Keep it coming!
  25. Your original post was unnecessarily unpleasant and we don't need this kind of talk around here. I thought that the responses to this post have been very helpful and understanding. (But if you're needy for feedback, you're going to get it now, and you're not going to like it). Play nice.
