  1. Thanks guys for the info on lettering.......I have an ALPS so I will draw up some and print in metallic and get closer anyway....
  2. I got my kits Sat and looked it over. NOT a complaint as I understand decal limitations and cost factors.....but should the 'Plymouth' and S&M be in silver leaf or metallic??? I do not know my vintage P/S well enough. I do want to build this soon. I like the looks of the kit and living in NC for many years this was kinda the home team!
  3. I don't buy into the big corporation ....no one can make a decision....blame needs to be carried by multiple people....etc...... I worked in the banking industry for a top 3 bank. We were paid well, worked hard often nights and even Christmas day. And because we were paid well, like GM mgnt, we were expected to not make mistakes. I always give people this example of doing their job 100% correct and why they expect it out of me......and I should of them. Let's say you deposit your paycheck of $1000. Next day you look at your account and it says deposit was $900. You call and complain and we tell you that that's pretty good....well within our 10% error tolerance . You explain that you want 100% of your deposit....close is not good enough. And this is just money and not something that can kill you or hurt you and others. (disclaimer....banks make errors.....and every one I ever investigated was traced back to an employee not doing 100%) GM needs to be held to the same tolerance as we do with a bank.
  4. When I read about the new recalls....all I could think was 'how are they going to fix them all??' Just for fun let's say each recall takes 30 minutes each....from roll in to roll out. I think that's way to short but this is just for fun. Almost 30 million cars affected.......30 minutes each........15 MILLION man hours to fix them all. I don't care how many mechanics you have that's a LOT of time......and from what I have read some of the recall fixes will take much more than 30 minutes. It took our local GM dealer 5 days to replace the rusted brake line on my step Mom's car. (to be fair the work 1/2 day Sat and off Sun....but still 3 days) Any way you look at it....an Albatross around GM's neck for a while!
  5. Like I said....just pulled it from the garage and photoed!!! And with it broken up some wish I could find another DM&I verson.
  6. Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range the model is HO scale Monogram kit Thanks
  7. I RECALL a few years ago when GM announced they were going to seal the hood with only small aircraft style panels to check fluids etc and removing the hood would void the warranty. That didn't go over well......so maybe they choose to over engineer!!!
  8. Hold on!!! I kinda like my AMC's having Ford starters, regulators and alternators. I have 66 and 68 Mustangs so I only have to know one system!!!Many also used Autolite carb's so another part I didn't have to learn! And yes my Javelin and Matador have Chrysler auto trans...but it's a good unit so I don't care!! AMC did more with less than anyone in the automotive world. And during the 70's when no US maker was leading the world in quality they were at the front of the worst!
  9. Dug mine out....a bit beat up and dusty. This is the DM&I version of the kit....issued only once. Different boiler front etc. Wish I had a mint kit now.
  10. Saw her in Pamona during my 2011 visit to So Cal.......I want to see her and 611 J both run someday. I have ridden behind 611 and been in her cab......seeing Big Boy would be great!
  11. That's a great kit. I built two of them for static display on my model rail layout.....before I switched to O scale (1/48) Maybe I can dig them out and photo them.
  12. There is something wrong for sure. My 66 Mustang and 73 Javelin have their original brake lines and they look perfect. I know looks do not mean no issues ever.....but when I looked at the lines on step Mom's buick they looked like they had been on a vehicle that served a swamp and salt mine! Not on a vehicle with 50,000 miles on it, kept in a garage and babyed all it's life..
  13. It's like a bad dream where you have to count the grains of sand in a bucket.......and you loose count with a cup to go.....it just never ends!!! My step Mom pulled into my drive this morning....she never stops by without calling. Went out and she said her Buick was 'going ding ding'. Had a brake error on dash lit. Master cylinder was dry. Looked under car and saw most of the brake fluid. Yet to check to see if 2005 Builck's have a recall for rusty brake lines.......it had rotted clean off at the chassis.......
  14. NBC was reporting it as a 'sales stop' and not a recall as they didn't have a fix for a recall and didn't know where they were going to get 700,00 plus new air bags. Can't issue a recall if you have no fix in place. A young girl down the street bought her first new car about a month ago.....a Cruze. Saw her a the post office and asked her about the 'recall'. She didn't know what a recall was or had heard that GM was having a lot of them. But ask about her new phone!!!! And thus the continued sales. PRAY GM that these customers will continue to surf, text, talk and instagram lunch on their phones but ignore real world issues.
  15. Add every Cruze built in 2013 and 2014 today....and an order not to sell any more.......this is like a really bad movie.......
  16. I've driven cars with flats that handled better than that Corvair did with a low tire!!!! At the time I was looking I had been driving my buddy's Corvair......mid engine 350 V-8 powered '69. A fantastic car that tended to eat ring gears.....

    My 3d Art

    Superb ART!!
  18. I drove a 2nd gen Carvair from a used car lot back in my HS days. The car was WILD all over the place. I had friends with Corvairs and knew they didn't behave like that......returned to the dealer and told them.....they said 'Oh yea....the right rear has a leak and is real low'.....even 2nd gen were sensitive to PSI !!!!
  19. No photos of even the new parts????
  20. Honda and Nissan had a big recall today on Japanese made air bags. Interesting article in the automotive press that likened the recall, no incidents yet but bags can fail due to moisture contamination, to mass hysteria caused by the massive GM recall.......so has this become a issue bigger than the GM recall??? Is it now going to cause every part failure become a recall??? Seems like a slippery slope of recalls, fines, lawyers, repeat.......
  21. I said that all along.....sighting that even my Honda Fit had a recall.....it was HOW GM handled the issues....how long it took and how it was brought into the open that is an issue. AND .....again it is a mind set that has gotten into the American corporate culture and every aspect of our lives.
  22. Very nice tooling for sure!!!!!! Hope it don't get recalled!!!!! (It's a JOKE!!!!!)
  23. No problem here.....that was wrong too......but then again I didn't give Ford millions to 'save' them either. And before we have the 'they have paid it all back' go to Forbes and search GM bail out and read how they did it.....crooked too and done just for an ad campaign. Again...I go back and relate this to kids trying to point to another as being worst than them.
  24. nice and clean build....my favorite no matter the subject!
