At one time I was a Chrysler only house. My 1999 Concorde was a well made car and fantastic highway cruiser. At one time we had two PT's which while they had some issues were great for kids at college! I am still not sold on Fiat ownership. It may be better than some unknown alternative.....but it's not the Chrysler I was loyal to. I hope someday they will return to the company I knew.

I bought the Modelhaus kit day one from Don....yet to build....can't decide which one to build. I like the kit....not perfect but IIRC when it was new it cost me $60 and for that a very decent kit.

H.B. Halicki original gone in 60 seconds
Dave Van replied to MsDano85gt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have both films. I have the Cage version just to show how bad remakes can be. The REAL Gone is a great film when you consider it was a 'outsider' film in today's terminology. And an outsider film in an era that was tightly controlled by the big film companies and equipment to make a film was very expensive, heavy and difficult to use. Today a 12 year old can match Hollywood standards with a $100 camera. I've seen (and touched when the guard wasn't looking) the real Elanor at Peterson and even met HB briefly when he was touring with Elanor back when the film first opened. He had just done a local news spot and was filling his tow truck at a Shell station.....what a man! -
The current (new) Vette is a push-rod motor??? I don't keep up with the car so I don't know.....but please tell me a base model 2014 Mustang is more high tech??? (double overhead cam 4 valves)

Now we are talking ancient history when we bring up Pinto's.....a car designed in the 1960's can't compare to a 2010 GM with many faults. IMHO the exploding Pinto is more myth than truth anyway. Same for many manufactures 'unintended acceleration' issues that 99.9% are proven driver faults. If you take all the cars owned by my folks and siblings (18 cars) the only cars of the group that have chronic issues were the Tahoe and Monte Carlo....the only GM's of the group. The Monte eats head gaskets for lunch.....3 sets in 60K miles.....but my brother is lucky enough that the cars was a contest win, blew the first head gasket under warranty and GM continues to fix it for free....otherwise i'd be GONE. I'd like to see GM set up....settle these issues and become the great company it once was.....we need it in the USA.

Very sad statement about what was once a huge well run American corporation. But GM needs to pay for this penny pinching decision. It's become part of their corporate culture. Dad owned a Chevy Tahoe......top of the line model with all options. I used it to tow my Mustangs from time to time. He really liked the vehicle. I would not have put up with it myself. Wiper motor sheer pin would snap in heavy rain of the smallest amount of snow. After the third time I'd sold it. Dealer said 'working as designed'. Then there was the windshield washer bottle that would split every summer. Went through a number of them. Always seemed to be little cheap parts that GM went even cheaper on.....these items were not expensive but showed a culture of 'we don't care'. Thankfully a coal truck ran Dad off the road, hit a small tree and it was totaled. His Ford Flex has been flawless and with twin turbo engine a hot rod to boot. GM needs to pay.
