  1. Thanks! You can see part of my collection in Under Glass heading of "On Display" to show the many bubble tops! Thanks again!! These photos are not a great representation of the actual color....you should see it in natural sunlight!!
  2. Thanks y'all....yes now come to think of it, the car does remind one of a red high heel shoe from the front!
  3. I got them at Hobby Lobby....$14.99 and used my 40% off coupon so they were like $9.99 each.
  4. Hey Andrew! Welcome aboard! I highly suggest you read up about as much information from the tips and tricks area as well as the work in progress area as you can. And don't be afraid to ask questions. Everyone here is very helpful and will explain even the most rudimentary techniques to you in full detail. It's a big disfunctional family! We all want your first build to be a great success, and you will learn along the way the do's and don't. As far as what you should build........build what you like the most, it will give you the most satisfaction. If you like trucks, hot rods, tuners, oldies, convertibles, whatever.... go for it!
  5. Pretty Cool Build! Bet those cars would make nice gassers!
  6. Here are a few pics of part of my collection. I decided that I could get more builds under one roof with a clear platform system. All it took was some sheet acrylic and clear acrylic rod. Cut it all to size and epoxy the rods on....voila! When I had seen some of the limited edition hot wheels cars that I already had builds of, I couldn't resist! The only bastard of the bunch is the Hemi Under Glass ...... and the Deora's daddy underwent plastic surgury . Enjoy!
  7. Thanks! The kit went together pretty easily. The only issue was that the back tires scrub part of the framework . I should have test fit and trimmed a bit, but I'm not gonna be rolling it across the floor! The hardest part was masking and painting the canopy, which could have been done better on my part. Thanks again! My brother has a formula firebird that has lots of styling from this one. Don't know the year, but he got stopped for DUI and as they were putting it on the flatbed tow truck it fell off and caused $8,000 damage which the city of Detroit had to pay for! He says it will never be the same.
  8. I was not looking forward to this build, dunno why, but turned out to be fun! Testors One Coat Laquer "Revving Red" w/3 coats of Future. Had to dunk it in the purple pond after it bubbled and then repainted it. Please Comment, and more pics of it on my Fotki page!
  9. Thanks all, but still looking on how to say grilled chicken sandwich with pineapple and fries in Hawaiian? Don't ask, it's a personal thing!
  10. Oh, sorry forgot to ask Gregg how do you say grilled chicken sandwich with pineapple and fries in Hawaiian?
  11. Thanks Harry, that explains a lot! So, are there any "Perks" to being an Ohana? or is it an Irish thing like O'Hana? And, if I am not yet part of the "Family", what am I, A visiting relative that won't leave? Someone with waaaaaayyyyyyyy too much time on my hands? A fly in the ointment? Oh, and I think there should be some kinda monetary congratulatory type of award as well. But I digress.....must keep posting to join the secret fraternity of ohanaism!
  12. So, could Gregg or Harry or someone tell me what "OHANA" means, is it good? and how do I achieve that status or avoid it. -mahalo-
  13. Very Nicely Done! It takes quite a bit of effort some times to rehab someone elses build.....You did a great job, it looks killer!
  14. Holy Moley! I love the color! But, that second photo.....my EYES!!!
  15. Wow, thanks! I will have to keep an eye out for those type of pins and give em a try!
  16. Ok, here is my take on the initial question. The convertibles are out there, but, they may not be as popular as the hard tops. The reason in my opinion is that most modelers like the more mainstream look of the hardtop. I also don't think that most model builders like putting the time and detail into the interior of a convertible as that is the main focal point of the vehicle itself. In other words, after seeing the shape and color of the car, the next thing to draw your eye is the interior. If the detail is not there (fabric color, textures, dash and hardware) the build is somewhat anticlimactic in it's presentation. With most hardtops, you don't initially see the interior or train your eyes there as the top itself defeats the focal need to see it. You almost have to make a conscious effort to look at the inside to see the interior details. Although this may not be the case with builds having larger glass areas such as a Ford Probe, you still might not initially look as closely at the interior as you would with a convertible. Strangely enough, on a 1:1 car, it's the second thing that draws one's attention, because you are actually going to occupy that space. Again, my take on the question, blah, blah, etc., so on and on and on.
  17. OOooooooooo.....pretty! You have done well young padwan!
  18. I am impressed! You have more patience and better eyesight than I could ever have! Kudos!
  19. Chicken Man became somewhat of a cult show in Milwaukee back when I had any hair at all and was destroying brain cells with substances other than model glue! These days it's "what hair?" and colesterol and heart medication. guess I will just stick to the Prairie Home Companion.
  20. I have to agree with Harry. This hobby could get a great shot in the arm if the kit manufacturers would start some national competitions and they could advertise for the contests all over the web as well!! Why they don't would come down to their excuse being the economy, etc, ad naseum. But they are missing out!
  21. I only use clear finger nail polish as a "liquid bandage" for the cracked skin on my fingers in the winter time. Although I have never used it as a clear coat, one would think that it could be thinned using nail polish remover. If this would mess up the purple is an unknown for me. Best to test it on scrap first! Good Luck!
