I've been working on and off on this project for a few years now, I'm a slow builder lol A few years ago I bought a resin Dodge Demon body on ebay, got here badly warped, tried to fix it and broke it, so I decided to make an Outlaw project with it, I used the AMT '71 Duster kit, cut the front and rear and used the resin Demon front and rear to turn the Duster into a Demon body, the hood and rear spoiler are scratchbuilt. I also used Revell's Jukebox Ford Pro Mod kit for parts, some other parts were found in my parts boxes, the engine is Ross Gibson's B1 T/S, many scratchbuilt parts, some photo etched parts, wired and plumbed, Fred Cady decals and some Slixx decals were used, automotive basecoat/clearcoat paint,

AMT M&H Racemaster Dragster Slicks & Parts Pack Tires
Bruno replied to Gregg's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Anyone know the actual dimensions of the racemaster slicks pp003 and pp004? Which ones would be the best for use on a 60's / early 70's funny car? -
Anyone knows what's the difference between "snaptite" and "snaptite max"?

What Do New Kits Have Inaccuracies
Bruno replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm no sociologist either, but my guess would be... money. Everybody wants more money. The boss wants more money, so the employee has to work faster. 100% production is not enough anymore, 130% is what they want. And when 130% is reached, they now want 150%. Never enough money. All this does hurt quality in the end. That's how it is today. -
This is awesome! I like Fuel Altereds so much... Awesome work! And Elapsed Times is my favorite magazine

I used the Harts Parts Resin '69 Six Pack hood on this Road Runner http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48778&hl=%2Broad+%2Brunner I used the AMT '69 GTX body, which is just like the '68 Road Runner body except for the side markers and moldings on the sides.

Tri-coat = ground coat, top coat and clear. You spray the ground coat just like any regular basecoat, it is the color, solid and opaque. The top coat is transparent and has the pearl in it. Again, it is sprayed like regular basecoat, as long as you have a good / clean spray gun and spray evenly, there's no problem spraying the top coat. And finally, the clear, we all know what this is... Tri-coats are not that hard to spray, it just takes more time. The problem is when only painting a part on the car, it's harder to match the color and then blend to a perfect repair that won't show...

Tire licensing rights Round 2 vs Revell
Bruno replied to MsDano85gt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually, I'm ok as long as the tire is a good tire size for the model and the thread pattern looks good, most of the time I sand the sidewall markings away and use tire decals (except if I'm using those nice AMT tampo printed tires ) -
Tire licensing rights Round 2 vs Revell
Bruno replied to MsDano85gt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, and still, Revell's reissue kits and even new tool kits MSRP is cheaper than AMT's (Round2) revised/reissue kits... If tire licensing is the reason behind that difference in MSRP price (I don't see any other reason for this...), I think revell should do the same as Round2 and bring us nice tires in their kits. Revell is known for having crappy tires in their kits, most of the time I throw them away and use other tires from the parts box or use AMT parts pack tires. Nice tires is important to achieve a nice build, and if I am willing to buy AMT parts pack tires, I certainly wouldn't mind paying Revell a few bucks more to have nice tires included in their kits -
Tire licensing rights Round 2 vs Revell

Note that average MSRP for Revell new kits is usually a few bucks cheaper than AMT kits. So maybe tire licensing has something to do with this... -
Looks good!

Those are the slicks from the kit (AMT Bantam Blast) and the letters are decals Thank you everyone for the kind words

RC2 AMT/Ertl Winged Express Fuel Altered - Buyer's Choice
Bruno replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Here's an interesting site I found while looking for reference pics, there's some cool information and pics about many Fuel Altereds. Here's the Winged Express page; http://www.aa-fuelaltered.com/wingedexpress.shtml And a cool video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqU95SZ6H-o -
RC2 AMT/Ertl Winged Express Fuel Altered - Buyer's Choice
Bruno replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
A few other pics with the big wing Notice the first pic is very close to the box art, but not the same pic, + the number on the wing is not the same. Also notice the different injector hat, I found 21 reference pics of the Winged Express when I built it, and there's something different on every pics... -
I'm currently building my first Ross Gibson engine, bought it because that engine can't be found anywhere else. It is perfect? no, there are some pinholes but nothing that can't be fixed. It does need some work, as I expect with all resin parts. It will be a very nice engine when finished. All in all I'm satisfied and will be buying other Ross Gibson engines in the future.

RC2 AMT/Ertl Winged Express Fuel Altered - Buyer's Choice
Bruno replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I built mine using the old MPC kit and really liked it, some parts cleanup is required but everything needed to build a nice replica is there (except wires, hoses and some detail items) but the decals are not that great. When I was building mine I looked everywhere on the www to find a Slixx decal sheet, which includes decals for the funny car but also the decals for both versions of the fuel altered, and it looks much better than the kit decals, but I wasn't able to find a sheet. So I built mine using the kit decals and some gold vinyl pinstripes... Since then, Slixx re-released the decal sheet and it is available right now http://slixx.com/1235.htm?id=4946 -

Here's my latest build, the Pure Hell Fuel Altered. I used the AMT Bantam Blast kit, modified the body and chassis, some parts were found in the parts box, some other parts were scrathbuilt... Slixx decals along with some homemade decals, paint is basecoat / clearcoat, wired and plumbed

Anyone got it?

Bruce Allen's "The Outlaw" Pro Stock Firebird
Bruno replied to Bruno's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks everyone! John, I saw yours and you did a superb job on it too! Niko, that shade of silver on the wheels is just Tamiya semi-gloss clear sprayed over the chrome Chris, I use BASF Glassurit 90 series waterborne basecoat (because that's what we use at work...) and Redline 4:1 urethane clearcoat, which is a cheap 2 part urethane clear, which is what I like to use on model cars because it's not too thick, more than good enough for model cars and easier to wet sand / polish than the high end automotive urethane clears
