  1. Greg, the paint is straight from the can Krylon from Walmart. Others who commented, I'm working on changing the wheels & tires. The sombreros don't fit my rims, so it'll be dog dish caps & trim rings on matching green rims. That was my original plan - I shoulda stuck to it! Sam
  2. Thanks for all the compliments, guys. Regarding the wheels & tires: my plan was to use the stock 50 Ford rims with the dog dish caps and trim rings and whitewalls, but then I found the chrome mag wheels and liked how they looked, plus their smaller diameter gave the car a lower stance, so I used them. I'm rethinking it now, though. I found a set of chrome sombrero caps in my parts junk, and they might look cool with wide whites. Decisions, decisions... Sam
  3. Abstract art on wheels!Cool!
  4. The 69 is my favorite Camaro, and your version is probably the best model I've seen! Amazing work! Sam
  5. That's cool! It looks like it has spent some time on the track. Nice engine detail work, and color scheme. Sam
  6. Hi, guys. I just finished this 49 Ford custom. It was a resin body I got cheap from ebay, maybe a Flintstone unit. It came without a hood. I had an old 50 Ford convertible that I (poorly) built back in the 1960's, so I used it for a donor. I reshaped the 50 hood to fit (sort of) and glued it on, so it's a curbside model. The wheels are from ebay, from an 04 GTO model. The bumpers, grille, lights, etc. are from the parts box. The continental kit bumper extension is an from an old Corvair, I think. The spare is made from two caps from my blood sugar test strip vials. (Is there an upside to diabetes?!) The color is Ivy Leaf Green Krylon. It was left over from coloring the trees and shrubs on a diorama. I left the top in flat white, since I think it's supposed to be a padded Carson top. The spare matches it. It was a fairly easy and fun build, and was my first use of a resin body. I hope you like it, if you can get past the puke color! Remember the Exorcist movie?!!
  7. Nice model! I love those old flat-nose trucks! The color scheme is great! Sam
  8. Simply amazing! So much detail, it must have taken an incredible amount of time (and skill) to build. Great job! Sam
  9. Great job, Roger! I like the Edsels. I found this photo of a '59 wagon with (I assume) the correct side trim. Both look good, though. Sam
  10. Let's go surfin'! Very cool build! The doors and blanket are nice touches. Sam
  11. I can't say I'm a fan of exotic sports cars, but that Ferrari is really nice! Red is the ONLY color for a Ferrari, in my opinion. Great build! Sam
  12. Superb! The subtle changes really add up to a much nicer look! Great work, as usual! Sam
  13. If you ever painted whitewalls on a Monogram Big T with white paint from your dad's workshop and 40 years later it's still tacky and covered with dirt, you might (have been) a young modeler. Yep, I did it!
  14. Cool beyond words! Looks like it was molded in one piece! Great job! Sam
  15. Another masterpiece, John! Incredible workmanship! Sam
  16. Very nice! The chop really makes the model. Good job! Sam
  17. It's great to introduce a new generation to modeling. When he's grown up, he'll fondly remember building model cars with Grandpa! Sam
  18. That looks BAD, and that's good! Very nice work! Sam
  19. For me, a big part of the fun of model building is making a good looking model using ordinary materials and tools. I use a Dremel, a drill, and files a lot, and I often use cheap Walmart paint, and it looks good enough for me! I also like to get cheap kits from garage sales, flea markets, or ebay glue bombs and rebuild them. I also build most of my R/C planes from scratch. Most of the guys in our R/C club buy $200+ ready to fly stuff. I get $10 worth of balsa and build my own, and it flies as good as theirs. If I crash it, I'm out $10, not $200. It's a lot more fun that way for me. Sam
  20. Very nice 62! I love the roofline on those Chevies. Great color, and very nice work! Sam
  21. The 62 Dart is one of my favorite cars. They were so ugly, they were beautiful! Great job on the model. Is it an old Jo-Han kit? Sam
  22. Cool Meteor! I learned to drive in my mom's 62 Meteor. It was gray with a white top and a red and black interior. It had a little V-8 (260 maybe?)and an automatic. BTW, I don't see a shift lever in the model. Nice build of a rare car, though! Sam
  23. Wow! Great use for an incomplete model, and a great diorama, Terry! The story really adds a lot to the realism, too. Nice work. How did you do that barn siding? Popsicle/craft sticks? It looks good. I've seen some barns like that around here in central PA. Sam
  24. OK, here's my 56 Crown Vic in "Pepto Bismol Pink"! My wife liked the color on a real one we saw at a car show.
  25. Thanks for the compliments, guys. That kit was more work than I wanted it to be - many fit issues. I liked the red one on the kit box, so I went with that color. I painted the hood three times. Got dirt in it the first time, then the clear attacked the red the second time. I sanded it off and did it in red again with no clear. It looks OK, I guess. Finishes in those days weren't as shiny as the clearcoated ones today, and farm trucks were seldom shined up! Charlie, the figure is a G scale model train figure. I got a pack of 20 of them on ebay for about $17. They're good for 1950's-60's dioramas. Sam
