  1. I changed from the old round lens to a large rectangular lens (4-1/2 in x 6-1/2 in) made by Aven several years ago. I love it, WAY less distortion than the round lens. Mine has full spectrum tube type fluorescent lamps and is plenty bright.
  2. If the light that's one foot from the spray is a standard incandescent, it is an accident waiting to happen. Spaying paint mist can easily explode a lamp and ignite any fumes in the air. I would suggest covering the lamp and if it's too bright use a smaller size lamp.
  3. Practice, Practice, Practice .... that's all it takes. I user a Testors external mix like the one you just bought for primer, they are quick and easy to clean up.
  4. I never thought about this, good tip. For me, I look for realism. I grew up on a junk yard and worked construction for 30 years so I have a feel of what is real. Some of the things I see that turns me off on a project is when the Stainless steel trim is rusted or the vehicle is not rusted where that particular vehicle always rusted. An other is a cracked rear window when it would be tempered safety glass. I'm sure there are more but those come to mind. Research and study the real items you are making or weathering and get as close as you can. I just need to get the weathering techniques mastered.
  5. I love this stuff. First, thank you for taking the time to post this and share your weathering skills. I hope I can get one of these built someday. I do see one thing missing, a car rim bolted to the wall for the air hose. One would look great on the end of your low wall, right out in the center of the shop for easy access. One for a water hose would be handy as well. The photos with the light shining through the windows are awesome! AzTom
  6. The grill looks much better painted and set back some. Great weathering. You know the real grill would be cut out between the bars, maybe some black wash would give that affect. You really have this coming together nicely.
  7. This one is 1/25 scale. They also make a 1/34 scale one. Tom
  8. Very nice, I too love these old buggies. I'll have to try that window tint tick. Were these kits made a company that makes wood ships, Lat.. something??? I have an unopened large Lindberg stagecoach kit but like the real wood over the plastic.
  9. I would love seeing this build. The lines are fairly straight, but what V-8 engine did white use in these?
  10. Here is my Willys box. Are you interested in the Hubley Diecast kits? Here's a 58 Pontiac Bonneville,
  11. Thank You, He's Papa's buddy.
  12. I was thinking larger than that, but hard to tell in photos. Who make the grill? Not too long ago someone here, maybe Chuck, ask me if I had any. The stance looks right on.
  13. Very Nice! I love seeing these cool VW threads.
  14. Great job on the front end. I built one of these a few years ago as a re-entry to building and couldn't believe how poor that all fit together. I built mine with the gasser look so I just smoothed it all out and frenched the headlights. Thanks for posting this Tom
  15. Welcome to both of you. A model kit and paint, a few dollars ....... building with a youngster Priceless! Very nice builds.
  16. Welcome back to modeling. There are a lot of tips on here, I learn something every day.
  17. Very Nice, I love the Farmall grill although it looks like a larger scale.
  18. I'm not getting anything done but the Grandson has fun painting Hot Wheels.
  19. I probably should have said Truck format?, although the Panels were available on 3/4 and even 1 ton truck chassis. The Panel truck looks like the pickups and has two rear doors and the Sedan Deliveries looked like the cars and one rear door. Tom
  20. I would have to look up 1932, but normally with Ford, the Sedan delivery has one back door and is based on the car chassis. The Panel truck has two back doors and is on the truck chassis. Tom
  21. That looks great. love the paint. I have the one that says 1/25 but I was guessing 1/18. Glad to finally know the correct scale. Be back in a few, going after an ice cream bar, yummm.
  22. Great looking cars. Nice paint job.
  23. It is a vintage Airstream. Here's a photo of mine when I was out camping, Girl not included, I had to bring my own Originally they made a new version and a weathered version. I am not sure what the new one will be. Tom
