  1. Great job. I'll have to look into that paint. Thanks
  2. Because painting is such an issue with beginners, and many adults, I would suggest the prepainted AMT kits from a few years ago. They are nicely detailed kits but every part is painted as well as even a professional can do. If he can glue and read instructions, he can build an awesome kit. My 10 yo Grandson won awards with three of them and two were published.
  3. I have used it, but I like regular two part epoxy better. I use the 5 min stuff.
  4. Nice builds!
  5. Very Nice!
  6. Nice Build.
  7. Awesome! Nice model Frank. Thanks for posting the video, I miss going to that Gasser meet. The Gold 33 Willys is my buddy Mark's car.
  8. Very Nice!
  9. I got both mirrors done. I have been too busy getting my outside shop set up and finishing the inside shop. Still need to get the paint booth vented outside. Sorry about the photos, Fokti is moving everyones photos to a new server and says it will take a few months.
  10. Nice!
  11. Great looking model
  12. Nice! I like the 1:43 scale cars.
  13. Nice 1/43 Willys. I see some Universal Hobbies cars in that group. I think I have most of UH editions and several extras to do some customizing on. There was a guy at the Toledo OH show that sold 1/43 decals for these but I lost his contact and never got any. Need to find some
  14. I had a 57 Chevy in the late 60's and it was jacked up some on all fours. They used to sell aluminum blocks that you twisted in between the front coil spring to raise it. Air shocks were the norm for the rear. This was my 69 Camaro in 1970 with just rear jacked up to clear the 10in rears.
  15. Very Nice!
  16. Ok, My statement you quoted was made saying yes, there may have been some older Sun Stars that had issues. Sun Star in general was NEVER considered Cheesy and Cheap looking in the diecast world. I can't remember any that stood out as being that horrible so I would still like you to mention which cars you are referring to.
  17. In addition to what Bill just stated, The Ford and Mopar engines had the oil pans drop in the front where the Chevy engine was at the rear. This allowed for an easy drop into the older cars. As I remember that was the first thing you checked when looking for an engine. All the custom parts that are available now did not exist back then. That said I would now prefer the same car / engine combo.
  18. Refresh my memory, what cars are you referring to? Yes they have come along way, the 53 Chevy posted has dog leg door and hood hinges and sold for $20.00, BUT when that car was made all the other 1/18 cars being made also had dog leg hinges. Every 1/18 diecast company had some issue on some cars over the years. If you are comparing 20 year old regular issue diecast cars to high detailed collectible cars of today then yes, some may not look too good. By the way, Sun Star still makes many of the old cars with dog leg hinges as does American Muscle and a few others.
  19. Not sure what you guys are thinking of, but Sun Star was never "Cheesy" or "Bottom of the Barrell". From the start, Sun Star had some of the best models for the time they were made. The Plymouth posted above is from their Platinum Collection. Sun Star added that line about eight years ago and has made several awesome models with that detail, although like all diecast it has improved some over time. Here is one of Sun Stars early models in the regular line.
  20. David, YOU are the winner. Awesome build! I may be missing something but the winner is NOT the best build, not even close.
  21. Very Nice! I know this car and you sure brought it to life.
  22. Awsome Al, Looks like a great place to hang out. Dusting must be an never ending job. I'm with cobraman, I wish I had that much space again. I miss those large basements, don't have them here in AZ.
  23. Very Nice!
