Source for scale cobblestone street?
Ryan S. replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I picked up one of these from Michaels during Christmas to display my models on. It's a pebble-stone mat from the Christmas Village stuff: I found on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Lemax-Christmas-Village-Landscape-Display/dp/B00436JBDO/ref=pd_sim_ac_1 might be small under a 1/16, but looks good to me under 1/25 -

lets see ur unfinished builds for 2011......
Ryan S. replied to mopar01lee's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I got a few started this year and these are the ones that sit in mid-build purgatory. It's unlikely, but I'd be happy if I got all these finished next year. The plan is to not start anything else until these are done. It's plenty (for me) to work on...oh yeah, there's Doc's post-apoch build too...we'll see how this all works out. '55 Ford semi-custom. Long way to go. Still have to finish frame mods, wood bed, interior, finish smoothing the body mods and, oh yeah, paint! '60 Starliner. This on is only waiting for body paint as it currently sits. This pic is a little old, but the most recent I have. Last coat of primer crazed so it needs a round in the purple pond...again. Challengum. I've removed and started reworking the front fenders. I'm thinking about taking another direction with this one as far as the body goes, but it would require starting over with 2 new bodies and I'm not sure I want to. Maybe I'll do an alternate in the future. First time I've posted this concept, but this is the direction I'm going for the leftovers from the Challengum build. Using the Hemi from the Revell '32 series and the fuel injection from the Challenger, it's a blend of new and old-school. '41 Chevy Pick up. This hasn't got much farther than motor selection, color selection and a mock up. I'm basing this off one I saw at a car show a few years ago. Lot's to do to make this one work. -
Wow, that's some beautiful paint work and color!

Model Cars Magazine Issue 163
Ryan S. replied to Tom Setzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got mine yesterday also. I had some slight damage to the back cover, but not enough to be concerned about. If it gets worse I'll let the publisher know. Great issue btw. -
I went real also, though the (apparent) lack of side wall details on the tires is making me think twice. There are too many other things that just look real.

You got yourself a nice slump-buster there. Nice job with the screen behind the grill. Nothing against your model, it's a great build, but I'm surprised by how much I don't like a 'Cuda in black. Maybe I'm used to the orange, green and purple ones but I would have thought this car would really be able to rock a black paint job. FOR ME, I'm not blown away by it. Just my opinion. Again, I don't want to take away from your build. It's your model and how you like it is what matters most please don't be offended.

Nice, this should make a coo looking hot rod! So far, so good!

White wall tires with yellow line (Vogues)
Ryan S. replied to Ryan S.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the reply Mike. Do you have a web site or a way to order, when you start making them again? -
I've been seeing these around for a while now, generally on Cadillacs. I've had some thoughts of builds I might use them on and I was wondering if anyone knew if someone was making, selling or casting something like this in 1/24-25 scale? From what I can find, the tires are Vogues. Thanks for any info.

A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO
Ryan S. replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd be interested. I have one I started but didn't get very far with, and an idea for a second. What are you thinking about as a time-line? Maybe an end date of Dec. 21, 2012? -
Yup, that's pretty awesome. Great conversion.

I'm seriously considering making the jump to an airbrush, and christmas is the perfect time to be asking for one. I've read a lot on different brands and models, along with personal preferences, but what I haven't seen is the pro's and con's of gravity feed paint containers verses the bottle-fed, siphon feed. Would some of you that are airbrushers kindly give me some info regarding both styles as it pertains to our hobby? Thanks for any information and insight!

It's slow going right now. Not a lot of time to spend on it. But, I've got it ready to build some new front fender flares for it so that's on the table for this weekend, I think. Keep up the good work on your builds!

Looking good so far Cliff. That blue really pops and nice job with the rims. Really makes a difference with the black backing.
-
That's one beauty of a '34!

Still undecided on the paint and the paint scheme. I'm thinking of going with a dark-ish metallic on the lower half and black on the top with the rim spokes blacked out. But I'm still not sure. I saw part of the movie "The Dilemma" with Vince Vaughn in it last night and he drives a blue Challenger and I thought it looked really slick, so I might go that way with it. Had to go back to the drawing board a little with this one. Trying to sand the fender flares and getting them to match wasn't working out. So I've sanded them off completely and I'm going to attempt to make my own with some thin sheet plastic and some patients. Wish me luck!

The Chally came out great Cliff! That green is beautiful and the bigger rims make a huge difference! Well done!

Where are those tires from? They look good.
