52 hudson question
raisin27 replied to Lanny Haas's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Here is one of the replica Hudson pics I ran across. This one has no side trim but the original B&W pics I found do show the trim in place. -
What kit has a good Ford 427 SOHC?

The spark plug location is my biggest beef with the AMT CAMMERS. On some it has the front plug on the left side going directly into the timing chain. -

The Johan CAMMER from the pro stock Maverick kits is one of my favorites, though it too has a few issues. The oil pan doesnt extend forward enough as it stops before the front timing chain cover is probably the biggest. The most accrate cam covers are found in the old Monogram Tarantula kit. The JoHan CAMMER............ -
Many thanks to everyone, I never expected such a response. Im very glad to be back and looking forward to many more builds. raisin

52 hudson question
raisin27 replied to Lanny Haas's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
I am currently building this kit too.............all the pictures I have found online show the car as a light sky blue color. Also at least 2 different die cast versions I have found are light blue as well. -
Very nice, a really great build of a kit you rarely see built.

Wow, what a response. Thank you everyone, feels good to be back! Raisin

Thanks, you are right from that angle it does look like the gas door is missing. In fact its just open, you can see it better from this angle.............

Its been well over 2 years since I have built or posted anything, but recently I was able to do a little bit with my modeling again. Built this Moebeus Hudson, its just a box stock build so dont expect to much! Thanks for looking, Raisin

Gilmore Car Museum car show and model show.
raisin27 replied to Chas SCR's topic in Contests and Shows
I was planning on making the car show but didnt realize that there was a model show too. Maybe will bring along a few of my glue bombs. Thanks, Raisin -
I am planning a build of Curtis Turners Southern 500 winning 56 Ford. The problem I am having is that although I have found many pics of the body and paint I cant find any shots of the engine or interior. Can anyone offer any insight into what Nascar racers of the era looked like? Did the engine have the dual carbs? were there 2 shocks per wheel? Were the stock door panels in place or were the doors covered in aluminum? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Raisin

Havent finished anything in quit awhile so I thought I would do a "quickie" build. Built totally out of the parts box its an old AMT 32 Ford Roadster channeled over the rails, and powered by a 272 Y block Ford mill. Built it like something you might see cruizing around in the late 50's. Even though its definatly not a big buck hot rod I wouldnt call it a "Rat Rod" More like "Lowbuck dont mean junk!" Thanks for looking, Raisin

Scott Shafiroff Pro Stock Mustang II
raisin27 replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Nice save with helmet! Sometimes we need to be creative. Mustang II's were some of my favorite pro stocks. I even built a few myself but havent tried this one. Yours looks good as always. Looks like you got the stance just right. Raisin -
Nice job on one of my favorite pro stockers. Raisin

Thanks for the pics, I had planned all year to make this show and saturday something came up that prevented me from making it! Oh well, hopefully next year!! Raisin

Thanks, the motor started as a 429 out of a Monogram Torino kit, the intake is from a Monogram Mustang and the rest is from the parts box. Raisin

I am never bored looking at your builds, and i love seeing "out of the ordinary" stuff. You have a winner there Marcos! Raisin

Thanks randx, the body is resin from Hendrix resins.........the rest is mostly from the parts box. Model Car Garage offers a photo etch set, thats where the trunk emblem came from. Raisin
