  1. Great looking build! I'd love to find one o fthose kits (I'v efound a few,but it's always when I have no budget to buy it,hahaha ) As others have said,it is an '83/'84 (my dad had one a few years before I started driving in '88,his was an '84). Appearance differnces were minor between the '79 and these years, there were a few changes underneath as well, besides now sporting a 4 barrel carb and dual exhaust (1984 and newer cars) where the older ones (including the famed '79 Pace Car--I owned one as my 2nd car in 1990--and the '82 GT) had 2 barrels and single exhaust, and by mid 1984 the 4speed manual was replaced with a 5 speed,as well as Ford going to the Panhard bar and quad shock setup in the rear. There was lots of other subtle changes between years, but those are some of the bigger ones that I can remember.
  2. Ordered one of those new Revell '83 Olds kits today, probly won' tget it in until late next week though, but been wishing for a mid 80's G-body Olds since I was a teen (in the mid 80's ),should be fun to finally build one
  3. I scored a factory rear wing (which I like and had been looking for used,BTW) from a friend for my '05 Mazda 3 daily driver...for free The rear wing was the only option mine didn't roll off the assembly line with (unfortunately, that means it's also an automatic, and not a Speed3 ). Here's a pic (see,no wing,LOL),I'll prep, paint and clear it this week probably, and get it installed..........sometime or another
  4. I just finished the Aoshima... I haven't built (or bought) the Revell kit (I was wondering the exact same thing as I built this one though),so I can' treally comment on building the Revell kit. The Aoshima went together nicely, with the only hangup being location of the kit included muffler being in the way to install the tailgate/tail light panel (1 piece),I used a different muffler from my parts box since it can't really be seen anyways. The chassis details are all simplified/molded in other than the few pieces of the suspension assemblies (pre-lowered ride height right out of the box),and they went together nicely, with poseable front wheels no less. It was a fun and quick build, one could add lots more paint details than I did (on the chassis, for example)...I didn't bother, because I didn't think it would look worth the effort. If you can find one reasonably priced,I'd so go for it,like I said,it was a simple, clean, fun build with not a lot of hangups. (I have another version of it in my stash). As for building it stock....it would take some work to do. It's suspension pieces are pre-lowered for a nice ground hugging stance, you would have to calculate the amount to raise it's ride height a bit,and then there's the molded-on fender flares that would need removed (and then you would need to scratchbuild the stock "lips" around the wheelwell that the 1:1's had),and there's nothing resembling a stock seat in the kit, though other than the included low-back bucket seats (I used late model Chevy S10 bucket seats in mine),the interior wouldn't need much more than a bench or stock-style buckets to make it look the (stock) part. Myself,I'm wondering if a kitbashing of the 2 with say,a GTR drivetrain would be feasible, using Revell's engine compartment/body and frame with Fujimi's pre-lowered suspension pieces and such for a hotrodded full detail version. Sounds interesting to me,anyways
  5. Looking forward to seeing THAT,Rob,sounds killer I'm calling the Datsun finished, finally got to the LHS today for the needed jar paint
  6. Calling this one finshed (that panel in the bed...it was supposed to fit from inside/underneath the bed,no tsit on top like that....but I didn't see it until it was too late )
  7. Steve, thanks my friend Gator, thanks on all counts,SO glad I can actually eat normally again (well...still just on the 1 side,LOL,but otherwise normally ) Tony, thanks That was pretty much our experiences with late 70's-early 80's Datsuns as well,LOL,ran forever, bodies dripped off in rusty pieces,LOL I'm calling it done,I finally got to the LHS for the needed jar paint earlier today (well...it's 1:49am local time,so technically yesterday ),will post it in the finished section in a few minutes
  8. Very nicely done, and LOVE the color choice, nice details!
  9. Got some uninterupted bench-time last night (couldn't sleep,LOL,pulled an all nighter ). It's nearly finished, need some Stop Light Red and minor final assembly. Finished pics later if I can get to the LHS for the paint A Few pics...

  12. Looks killer and clean,Jonathan! Making me want to jump back on mine (still struggling a bit from surgery Friday before last,so haven't sat at the bench for a few days),LOVE it!

  14. Very nicely done!
  15. Thanks, guys Gator, thanks for that too,my friend. No complications so far,but have been feeling a little worse with it each day (thought it was supposed to be the opposite,LOL ),but doc said yesterday I'm "healing nicely, just take it easy and be patient" (he was probably talking about the fact that I tried to mow the other day,and have been trying to make me do all my normal routines/chores...wife says I'm a bit stubborn ),so I haven't been able to work on it since last update, other than that I have finished the spray work (glosscoat included). Hoping that I feel up to getting back on it sometime today, growing ansy to finish it,LOL
  16. Thank you I've reshot the hood today (had blue overspray on it),hoping to get either some chassis or interior work done today as well. Feeling a bit better today, but backed up on chores too,so....
  17. LOL,yeah,I like that ("complex extraction") :)
