  1. While I too am bothered by the smooth hip lines as opposed to the front fender lines... Mark has indeed proposed a logically and beautifully constructed interpretation of a "what if" model. The lines on the Corvette back in 62 were incongruous as well with 50's smooth and bulbous in the front and sharp and taut in the back! Beautiful work Mark... as always! BTW, This is something I wanted to do to the '74 Mustang... by creating an interium styling excercise bridging the vast change from the long low '73 to the short stubby little Mustang II.
  2. Actually Harry, me either. And I have not received 3 of the last 4 previous issues besides! Think I am off the rolls as a subscriber/contributor somehow. I do not fault Gregg of course... but it is curious.
  3. I must store mine pretty poorly, as I seem to be always spending time searching for something!
  4. Those were prophetic words G, wish Jimmy would write something again.
  5. "El jeffe"? Classic!
  6. I rate this thread 99.8% cool! Keep going dude, I'm taking notes....
  7. MCM on Kindle huh? I can dig that....
  8. I have been working on this for years! Even have a thread buried here showing my poor attempt to kitbash a Midget... But currently Alan Raab is making me some cool wheels and tires for the truck! The artwork by Dave Kurz.
  9. Unless you want to talk about religion or politics that is.... Thank you for the first post V!
  10. I think Mark is correct... or very close anyway. Not the new Willys, but the old AMT versions.
  11. Posting the reasons that explain why the magazine date does not match the calendar would do nothing to make it better. Having Gregg join the conversation also provides no resolve, only gives focus to the naysayers and complainers. Gregg posted in the other thread simply to give Harry, a hard worker and mostly silent contributor to the process, some much deserved credit. Most of you have already heard the reasons before. They have been stated time and time again and yet you all seem to think YOU would have the answer if you were in charge... (and most would result in a more expensive product, but not necessarily better.) Gregg fights long and hard to keep the cost down, the quality up and is trying to get it caught up to the best of his abilities. The magazine is what it is! Just be grateful that we have it, because if my ONLY inspiration and "source of reading room" hobby material has to be FSM and SA... then I WILL totally give up the hobby once and for all, believe you-me! Just trust that Gregg reads all these posts and threads. I know he does because two days ago he asked me on the phone about one of our more "vocal members" here. Management staying out of the fray demonstrates a "taking the higher ground" stance in my opinion. So... that said.... carry on.
  12. I am older than Cranky? Who would have thought.... well, happy B day anyway.
  13. I never even received Nov issue, but that might have something to do with my moving. Put in a request for a replacement issue.
  14. Not all paint is made from the same materials! Different colors require different materials to appear: red, blue, yellow, black and white. Each color changes and ages according to the materials used. All paint will age better in a sealed unit as long as leakages do not occur, and can last for many years if the seal remains intact.
  15. Light tan woody huh?
  16. Larry, The Rust O Rama is an annual show put on by the "Cherry City Bombers" here in Salem, Oregon. 2010 marked the 2nd event and I believe in June 2011 we'll be doing it again! But this time "Rat Hole Customs" will be selling t-shirts at our very own booth! Florida to Oregon is a long drive for a little show like this. I suggest you do some Google searches for more local shows in your area. Try searching for "Billetproof". That is one trend that has taken off in the last 10 years!
  17. With only nine issues per year? Intresting.....
  18. That is really looking good Art! Done by GSL?
  19. April is what I heard. Nice to learn that another artist (and a good one at that) turns out to be an exceptional modeler to boot! This Sean is someone I want to meet...
  20. I dream about blonds, reds and brunettes. Get a grip dudes... .it's just a hobby!
  21. Peter, I like to think of myself as a "realist" but whatever. Incidentally I sent a link for this thread to the product director of AMT.
  22. Now you know why Cranky and I like to build dirty rods.... A lot can be covered up with a little dab of rust and some spray flat clear.
  23. What? To produce a kit like that with all those bits? Never happen because it's too logical, not to mention the high cost to produce. Plus half the pundits on this board would argue that SOMETHING was wrong or incorrect citing themselves to be experts in the field. But, we can still dream.... *sigh*
  24. It's Sunday morning after the show and I am beat. Here's a picture of our Rat Hole Customs booth at the Albany Rod & Speed show during a lull in the crowd about noon. We came loaded with many shirts printed in M, L, XL and XXL... but sales were soft. Just not a lot of people heard about it I guess. Of course it rained hard all day, but I think the promotion of this show is pretty bad. The model car guys had a hair over 135 models on the tables for judging plus about two dozen "in-progress" displays. Numbers were up, quality was up and there were at least two vendors selling models. Here is my little t-shirt airbrushing station... Everything you see there including the compressor fits in the box for transportation to the shows. Well... not quite the shirt press (for activating the ink), but you know what I mean. Overall pic including Jeremy's cool 1935 Ratty Rod pickup which now sports hand painted logos on the doors. Jeremy hung around all day, helped at the table when Mark was off hustling jobs and I was painting shirts. He was a huge help, not the least of which was bringing the rod which attracted as much attention as the booth and shirts. I think the economy in Albany/Jefferson is not yet on the recovery, because a lot of people came by saying that they loved the designs but couldn't buy right now. Not a lot of selling went on at the show, with many of the vendors stating that it was a weak turnout in numbers and in buyers! Regardless, Mark and I believe we are on the right track with our market nich and will be hitting the swap meet (same place) next week. Not to mention the Salem Street Rod show two weeks after! While there Professional Pinstriper "Big Daddy Newsom" dropped by and laid down some beautiful lines on Jeremy's rod. Bookmark our web site because we will be adding designs periodically throughout the year and hitting many shows in the NorthWest including the Pacific Northwest Model Car Fest (NNL) in April! See you there.

    Sketch Pad Art

Those were printed in SAE back before Kalmbach took over. '95 - '97 I think.
