Hi you all, well here's an update. Sorry about some of the photos, got a new camera and are having focus issues with it. Anyways Lee3 This model had a bad week kinda, I had to repair the roof in the model room work area, and things got alittle dirty even inside box's. then the box this model was in fell over onto it's side. I wanted to repair afew things on this build anyways so I figure dismantle the interior tub and clean it out sense dust got in there real good.

Hey Davin, about the roll cage or roll bar, which ever you like to call it. If you want to know how to build them, PM me on here as I know a good thread on another site that shows a roll bar in the same kind of style design some what just like your roll bar set up is. The other thread I am talking about is a huge and also shows close up shots of the making of the roll cage as well and mounting places as well.

The Big One
MoparWoman Jamie replied to Romell R's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I agree, it's good to see an old friend back with us once again. Rommel, I was starting to think that the earth had eaten you up. -
You know, Virgil, that motor would look down right sweet in one of your model car builds.

Okay, I don't want to hi-jack Davin's nice build here, but I will answer the questions sense he got them from me. You all, when you put the hinge in place on the door, the plastic round stock and metal hinge is all place as a unit onto the door. Lined up to where you want the hinge located. It's like Davin said, tape the door shut first and get that in place 1st thing. The hinge at the bend area is bent sharply mostly and the round stock is mostly a hair taller then the metal pin itself. This making the round stock set in place on the hing and not shift back and forth (as in up or down). The metal pin can be trim down also if they are to long. Now to attach them, mostly like Davin said, glue the round stock to the door and the shell. Also take some superglue (CA) and put on the hinge area over the metal pin going into the round stock on the shell inner fender area. This way it will keep that side of the hing solid mostly from moving around (out forwards or inwards) when opening the door up or closing the door. Now I see where Davin mention about readjustment of the door down the line, alittle advice bud, try maybe triming down the metal pin alittle on the door side, I know I had ran into this very issue as well myself and I make the hinges LOL. I found if I trim the hinge down alittle, and lighly tilt the metal pin outwards the door will slide on and off very easy.

Just for the record, your talking about Lee1 they found NOT Lee3 bud. Lee3 would have been the holy grail. Also for record Lee1 was shop up and parted out.. drop by the www.cglfc.com and find out what happen to him for real. It's a sad loss also even though he was Lee1 the first car they used for filming down in GA. But you and the others can believe what ever you want to about Lee1, but me and the guys and gals over on the club knows what really happen to him afew years back though. Another site also knows what happen to him as well. Yea, those hinges does look familiar hahaha. At least you are one of afew I know that askley intsalled the door ones correct.

Sorry bro, but Lee1 was not the first General Lee to be built, Lee3 was. Lee1 was labeled Lee1 because he was the first car to be used for filming down in GA. Lee3 the car with no numbers on was the first car and also the one that was used for all photo shoot photos promos. If he had servied the show he would have been in fact the holy grail of the General Lee's.

You know, I just NOW notice that! LOL oops!

Evan Design's as I know of is a model train site http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/ that deals with LED's and what not. That is where I got the LEDs at for my friend's semi truck project. This must be the paper your talking about http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/decalpaper.html'>http://www.modeltrainsoftware.com/decalpaper.html

If you watch the first season 2nd episode in "Daisy's Song", Waylon Jennings explains about the dang doors on the General Lee Waylon said something to this effect "The reason why they craw in through the windows is because the doors on a racecar are welded shut" meaning the General was a racecar. Plus in the episode also in the very early first season in the episode "Repo Man" Waylon also commented that the General was a dirt track racer.

Nope, try again sir, try episode "Ten Million Dollar Shriff". I believe it's the 2nd part of the episode where you will in fact see a clone General Lee on screen with the doors being open by Bo and Luke Duke. and Also in the episode "Double Dukes" there is also a General Lee shown that has the bad guys shown on screen opening the doors up to get in that charger as well. I say this because these General Lee's was in fact real series used General's that are seen on screen to have their doors open up. Nick Winter, Lee3 did in fact have door decals applyed when he got to GA and they begin filming down there. He was killed in the episode back in CA early in the series in the episode "The Meeting" when they jump him over the black limo. None of the General's on the series had there doors welded shut. Matter of fact if you listen closely in some episodes you can in fact hear off camera General Lee doors being open and closed. Also in the episode "Days of Shine and Rose's" where Bo slides the General around and backs him up under a tree while Luke grabs the detour sign and relocates it on Rosco while Jesse and Boss Hogg are racing and then runs up under the tree to get back in the General Lee, watch that scene very close, Tom Wopat (Luke Duke) is shown by a sec at least (they cut the film real close to avoid people seeing it) closing the General's door after he had gotten in it.
