I think I will be using the front tires and rims from the Johan 'Cuda on my build. I did have to trim the inner part of the outer rim to make the rims sit a bit more flush into the tire but it should look good. Best of all is that the tires have the "Drag 500" lettering on the side! Gotta see if I can also use the back tires....

Best way to paint vinyl seats?
cruz replied to clovis's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've had success using a simple method that looks convincing and easy to do. The seats on this Corvette were painted with Testor's Enamel Flat Red. Once dry, using my airbrush at a distance of about 12 inches from the seats, I lightly airbrushed two coats of gloss clear. This will give the seats a slight vinyl sheen. Go very easy and play around with the distance and the pressure from the airbrush until you are satisfied with the results. -
As a matter of fact, my friend Kevin Meaney which is a friend of mine here and in Facebook actually did, in a post at the SA forum, mention my 'Cuda on the cover of "the other magazine" (Model Cars Magazine) and guess what? The post was deleted. That pretty much says it all.

Yes Jay, I do have photos but I must apologize to you for not posting them, at least right now I can't because the model is featured on the current issue. Once the next issue is available, I will place all the pictures on the Under Glass section of the forum for all to see. I just hope Harry is okay with this picture.....

One more thing, let's blame Bob for not posting it here, it's his fault!!!

SA does not approve of this kind of post over on their side, we shouldn't either and while I know the post was not meant to be disrespectful, SA is one thing and MCM is another. I know how touchy JH is about this, Harry has all the right to feel the same. Derrick, this is just my opinion, nothing against you my friend. By the way, the model is absolutely gorgeous, I got to see it at the NNL East and it's no surprise to see another great model from this talented builder!

Thank you for clearing the cool can issue, never imagined those lines going into this from the carbs but of course pictures don't lie!
-
Okay guys, I am having a dumb moment..... So, you say the carb lines are going into the cool can?
-
Tim, question? Where would lines for the cool can be routed to?

Inaccuracies or not, I am still building another one to display it next to my recently completed one!

And thanks to JC and Historic Racing Miniatures, we will soon have a nice resin replica!!! It's still in the works....

Go to your local crafts store and head over to the beading section, you will find everything you need and for a reasonable price you will get a lot of material. Every wire in this engine was purchased from my local Michael's crafts store.
