  1. I would have never guessed...................................... G
  2. Thanks guys. I absolutely freak out everytime I use BMF, but it always seems to look ok in the end. G
  3. Thankyou all! G
  4. This, for sure. I recently looked at a '11 Town Car with low miles at a "reputable" new car dealership here in town. The car had a slightly high price on the windshield, but with a bit of haggling I felt it could be had. Not. The "doc" fees and other "incidentals" kept the final price within $5 of the original price on the car. I asked the guy why he thought we were stupid and left. Really? All the subjective fees and such were adjusted to keep the price high? G
  5. I've been a cop for nearly 34 years, trust me I feel your pain. G
  6. A nice color, real nice. G
  7. Bad cop.......................no donut. G
  8. Last month I completed an investigation wherein I arrested a young lady. She sent me an email upon her release from the county jail thanking me. She said she was now clean and sober after four weeks at the Clark County Detention Center. She went on to say she regained custody of her children and that he and her husband will be moving on for better things after trial. That was kind of nice. G
  9. Nice model. I think it is just fine. These magnificient beasts flew from Kadena AFB on Okinawa. They took off mostly at night reportedly to arrive over the target at optimum light conditions. We Marines at Camp Butler always knew when a take off was about to happen. The AF base went dark, and suddenly the image of a dark shadow rose into the air. It was followed by two of the largest blue flames ever seen by man. Then the roar hit you. Spectacular stuff man. G
  10. What he said X2 G
  11. I'd rather drive................................ G
  12. Cracking will occurr when two different types of paint are used one over the other. I'd spray an enamel base, then over coat it with Tamiya acrylic. Enamel is a slow drying paint and the acrylic dries in a moment. The Tamiya cracks as the enamel dries. Use enamel thinner for the enamel and Tamiya's own acrylic thinner for the acrylic. That way you have two completely different types of paint and no chance they'll merge, like if you use laquer thinner. G
  13. We'd sit for hours in a "staff meeting" where the only one speaking was my then captain (Adam Henry). He was a big proponent of "what if?" What if what if what if. Anyone in law enforcement knows you can only "what if" so much. One time he concludes with "Any questions?" so I asked "What if pigs flew and monkeys jumped out of my a**?" I got the transfer I wanted the next week........................................ G
  14. I really do not think anyone that experienced that morning will ever forget. New Yorkers for sure. That was the most surreal day I ever had in a 34 year police career and I worked 1700 miles away from ground zero. It effected EVERYONE. G
  15. Love it! Great color and stance. G
  16. That's gonna be cool. G
  17. Yours looks fine. To tell the truth, due to the depth of the engraving, I found it just as easy to brush paint the trim with semi gloss black acrylic paint. G
  18. Four Squadron books I'll use for reference, and a DML M4A3 Shermen kit. G
  19. Motorcycles as well. Some would say returning veterans were the fuel that propelled the motorcycle and motorcyclists, into the mainstream. G
  20. Best darn hobby shop in the Midwest. G
  21. The Sherman was never intended to fight against other tanks. US Army doctrine provided for "Tank Destroyers" to handle that job. Realization of the error came too late, thus quantity took presidence. Now simplicity is another thing. Massed produced, simple to operate and simple to maintain armored vehicles/weapons/equipment were the backbone of both armies mentioned. The M1 Garand was the only gas operated semi automatic rifle in use by any of the combatants at the beginning of the war. Germany took 5 years to develop a similar weapon, Great Britain Russia and Japan never fielded one at all. Simple, is not an adjective used to describe a M1, yet rugged reliable and superbly accurate are. Without a global war to spur development, where would we be today? Without a cold war and a space race, where would we be? Of course the aliens contributed greatly. Ask anyone here in Nevada. G
  22. Builds looking good. Acrylics are a different game man. I always say the problem is the nut that hold the airbrush. I used Lifecolor on a PzIV build, thinned with their thinner. The paint was great when I painted the basecoat. I darn near went crazy when I went to add the camo pattern. The paint was either too dry or too thin. I finally reached a happy place by turning down the PSI and adding a drop or two of thinner. Tamiya usually never gives me a problem if I use their thinners. MM Acryl is hit and miss, mostly miss like the Lifecolor. Keep a cotton swab dipped in thinner handy to clean the tip of the ab. I blame the weather. The lack of humidity here contributes to how I paint. Acrylic is a real "B" in the summer. Adding thinner, retarder, and all sorts of things to the paint makes it seeem as if you arent really going to cover the surface. Keep trying. G
  23. Oh My Goodness that is nice. I did tuck n roll one time. Piece by piece with half round. Never did it again. G
  24. #25 Nose pickers. ALWAYS kept a stash of cheap pens for ticket writing. G
