  1. I tried a little photo editing to reflect a period B/W shot. G
  2. This is the patch I wore on my left sleeve when I was assigned to motors in the Traffic Division. This is the pin now worn by motor officers from my old department. I rated the gold pin as a sergeant, my son wears a silver one as he is a police officer. These are worn on dress occasions by current and former motor officers. These are readily available to anyone via internet or in person at a uniform supply shop. G
  3. Humidity here is up, actually making for perfect painting weather. Stay tuned. G
  4. Bosses who cannot see beyond the tip of their noses. Two weeks ago we were told the entire state building would be off the power grid tomorrow. No lights, computers, no nothing. I rally the troopps and we make a plan for the day watch, we have to work but it'll be old skool paper and ink. I ask the bosses what are my computer resources for record checks, bookings, etc. I'm told it's all set up, with the RENO office. NOT No one gave a thought to the fact that the freakin' state wide server is in OUR building. No power, no power rangers. No help from Reno either. The new chief of the division was incandescently p'd off when I pointed this out. The guy thanked me for thinking ahead and took it upon himself to "straighten this stuff out". I'm glad I will not be attending the command staff meeting Monday morning. G
  5. I was aboard the Missouri when she was mothballed in Bremerton. A few years later she "assisted" with fire missions in Lebanon. I was aboard the Trenton at the time. OMG was that spectacular and we were miles away. With the right light you could see those 2200 lb shells headed inland. I was a total military geek growing up. Anything US Army was for me, movies, TV, all of it. Museums were a special attraction. I enlisted in the Marine Corps at 17, go figure. Just made the last tango in SE Asia, then Lebanon, Panama and Grenada. 57 last Sunday. G
  6. 32,33,34. The coil is under the black plastic cover. It is bolted to the front of the shock tower. G
  7. Joe get me the date and I'll be there. G
  8. If a man does his best, what else is there? General George S. Patton G
  9. That is really, really nice. Whats next for the diorama ? G
  10. Machine gunner MOS 0331. I hear in short bursts................................. G
  11. Very good sir! What Jurgen said x2 G
  12. Awesome! G
  13. Thank you gentlemen, you too Danno. I tried a whole bunch of new techniques and ideas with this one. Believe it or not Harry, creating the rusty muffler guards was one of the easiest things to do . Danno the lights are painted over..............................camo you know................................ G
  14. That is north St. Louis on a Sunday. Cruise day and all the wheeled abominations came out to play. G
  15. "Panzers in the Sand, The History of Panzer Regiment 5", Volumes 1 & 2 Hundreds of photos and details from 1939-1945. It's an armor modelers delight. G
  16. My normal work day is spent in and around casinos. At the best of times casinos are the noisest, crowded, most chaotic places you would ever visit. While it's exciting for patrons, it's a drag for us who work there or in my case police there. I build as a way to relax and unwind. I have done that for the better part of my career. Silence is truly golden. G
  17. When dealing with the small gaps and tight space involved on super structures, chart houses, islands etc. I've found that a bead of white glue is just the ticket. Apply sparingly with a small brush , then add more if needed when dry. G
  18. So this is where you've been hiding eh? Mad just mad, and I like it! G
  19. This base belongs to the PzIII but you get the idea. With the big brothers.
  20. I built a few cars so it's back to armor for a bit. I went sideways and raided my German stash. It's the DML Pz I DAK. Lots of weathering in this. Started with Krylon gray primer, then a Tamiya mix for the sand color, washed and weathered with oils and enamels. I had a blast painting and weathering it. I will do a small base such as the one in the photos. I plan to include a fig or two for reference. G
  21. I'll buy at least two. When I started the Laboratory Division drove these. Full police markings with ladder racks, and kleig lights. Now there's a build for ya! G
  22. Rustoleum once offered a crackle finish system in spray cans. I used it for a dry lake bed diorama, but cannot find any photos just now. I'll re shoot the diorama and post it later. I liked the way it came out. G
  23. You know me all to well. I am no longer allowed to hang someone by their ankles from the fourth floor interrogation room windows............................ G
