The Most Embarrassing Cars To Drive
Agent G replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had a '93 Corvette, for a while anyway. It was no sooner delivered and child #3 let us know she was arriving in a few months. I haven't been enthusied about Corvettes since then, until I saw the '14 Stingray. I just might have to have me one of them. G -
Ben Franklin at River Roads Mall in Jennings. It had a dedicated Hobby Corner. I'm trying to remember which store at Northland Shopping Center had the big hobby area. I want to say JC Penney in that humungous toy department with the monorail, remember that? *edit* I now remember that was JC Penney at River Roads as well. The Ben Franklin at Northland was the bomb also. G

Not impressed with any of Lincoln's current offerings. I was considering a Cadillac XTS until I saw the MPG estimates, 14/19-22. I'm told in practise it is worse. Something about taking a V6 and squeezing 400+ ponies from it. Why not a small V8 Cadillac? G -
Our wayward son Jonathan left for a sabbatical. He has since returned. G

The Most Embarrassing Cars To Drive

I currently drive a Town Car, but I am once retired . My son owned an Honda Element and I almost stole it from him I liked it so much. Way subjective. *edit* "Embarrasing" is driving a fully marked Chevrolet Celebrity as a regular beat car. Not bad as urban patrollers, but really? G -
Fun with your mouse, the old Packard plant
Agent G replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's interesting in that where I live now did not really exist until the 1920's. Prior to the Hoover Dam project Las Vegas was about 10 square blocks around the rail road station. Even then when the El Cortez was started at 6th and Ogden, folks said it wouldn't do any good as it was "too far out of town". The strip was open desert and a military airfield that eventually became McCarran Airport. I cannot even find reference to an auto dealership before 1935. In contrast my home town, St Louis, like so many others has a history dating back to the 1650's. Trouble is "the Lou" is just behind Detroit, not like bankrupt tomorrow or anything but close. Sad. The USAF had the wheels painted Air Force blue on the later model Mustangs as well. Hmmmm guess what's next? Thank you all for the comments. G

Thank you all. danno that backdrop just wouldn't stay still. I had to photograph the scene as it was. Duane those are Chimneyville decals which I believe are now out of production. LVMPD never had 'stangs as far as I know, but the decals are readily available from Bill Bozo and several other sources. Look here under decals. www.policecarmodels.co G

Speaking of danno, and Jonathan too, we met Saturday at a Phoenix model swap meet. Here are the usual suspects posed as planned. G

Earle these were from an old Chimneyville sheet I received from danno. Try this guy http://pcdforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1604 he seems to be highly reccommended in the diecast world or JBOT decals. Sorry for the late reply I was out of town. G

Tryin' Too hard ?
Agent G replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes definately. I've admired that Deuce since it first hit print. The small seemingly insignificient details add up to a clean attractive design. It is not a collection of "cool looking things" all thrown together with no regard to how they work together to achieve the overall look. G -

Now that's a good looking rod Stu. Did you find any other photos of it? G -
Florida Highway Patrol Mustang Update 2/2/2014

Please! I love a good copcar build. G -
Oh now that is simply gorgeous. G
-
Thank you Alan. I took this build to work today so a friend could see it. He was with NHP around that time and drove these babies. I cannot describe the look on his face when he saw this Mustang. It was a complete mixture of excitement, enthusiasm and misty eyed nostalgia. Once he finished looking, poking and prodding he remarked that it was "dead nutts on" like he remembered. That my friends made me feel good. I think this one, or one just like it, may find a new home down the road. G

What they all said. Good job young'un. G

Florida Highway Patrol Mustang Update 2/2/2014

If nothing else Model Master enamel "Ivory" is a good match. Be forewarned the spray can Ivory takes forever to dry even for an enamel. I will AB mine cut with laquer thinner to speed up the process a bit. G -
That is a cool custom. Love the interior. G

I tend to agree Charlie. The lightbar also seems to distract the eye and add height that isn't really there as well. Either way I'll be building a CHP slicktop next so we can compare the cars side by side. Thank you for the compliment too! G

With a set schedule of four 10's and three days off (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) I plan ahead. I can dabble a bit each evening, but on my days off I paint. I build sub assemblies and/or start a new project on Sunday and Monday. I usually paint outdoors, so early in the morning on Tuesday, everything needing paint is complete by 0900. Now it sits all week out of sight in a spare bedroom curing. If I rotate between two or three builds I never get bored. G

Thank you sir! Remember to bring the AzDPS 'stang with you Saturday. G
