Yes there, around the cowlings and underneath the wings as well. The turbo's were just as leaky as the engines themselves. Those are wing vents as there are no radiators, the engines are air cooled. Waste gas from turbo dumps was vented out there I believe. Also the floor that the waist gunners stood on was just varnished plywood as was the floor in the nose and navigators table. That is a good representation of an early G model. G

Cockpit-Bronze green Kinda a Boeing trademark. Interior is mostly yellow zinc and or green zinc chromate stringers with natural aluminum side walls. Remember the actual primer does not have a color per se. It is tinted for the painters to tell coats/coverage. Engine cowlings wheel wells could be green or yellow. Propeller blades are black with yellow tips. Hubs are usually bare metal. Until late '44 or so B17G models were Olive Drab over Neutral Gray. USAAF OD faded to a slightly brown green in the sun. Patches/repairs would be painted fresh showing darker. After that bare aluminum with OD or bronze green anti glare panels Lots of staining from those big leaky radials. Ailerons, rudder and elevators were mostly fabric covered. They would fade differently. G

More you say? Here's my take on the light bar, inspired by Martin fan's build. I also used paperclip wire for my spotlight. Just waiting for the new clear lenses from Revell to wrap this up. G

I finished this one just in time for the IPMS show in Phoenix. Danno and several others from down that a way build some superb commercial vehicles so I had no expectations for this. It really is a simple OOB build. G I finished this one just in time for the IPMS show in Phoenix. I was sure, until you mentioned that. Apparently all my mockups failed to disclose the fact that once everything is glued up, it didn't work. It fits now.......................................... Thank you sir! G

I built this one about 12 years ago. It was my first custom in at least a decade. I used the venerable AMT '49 Merc kit. It has a complete tuck and roll interior I made from Evergreen half round. Window cranks I scratched from beads and wire. I custom mixed flocking to match for the carpet. The engine was transplanted from a Ford Pickup as was the rear end. You can see the body mods. Paint is airbrushed MM Enamel, Black and Turquoise polished with Novus. There is no clear on this one. Never got a mention in any show it was entered in. Still it was a huge fun build for me. G

Revell Customer Service
Agent G replied to Rick Schmidt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
During my recent 2010 Mustang GT build I completely misplaced the outside rearview mirrors. We are talking gone, zero, zip, nada on the search. I hit Revell up on their website and emailed a request for replacements. I owned up to my actions and said I'd pay for the parts and postage. I really didn't want to buy a kit just for the mirrors. The replacements arrived today, no bill and postage paid by Revell. Revell's service department really is a good place. Thank you Revell. G -
I can hear that conversation ..... So where's the car? What car? *Smack* The bright red car that was in the trailer....... What trailer? *Smack* The bright red trailer. Oh the one with the bright red truck? *Smack* Yeah I don't know, it was Louie's turn to watch it. I been in Vegas too long................. G

I attended a prestigious figure show, once. In fact Shep Paine, Mr Diorama, was the key note speaker. While talking with a friend, we saw a late arrival was placing his work on the tables. One judge walked up to another judge and said loud enough for all to hear "I don't even know why he's here, his work is just lousy." I did place in two catagories that time, 2006, but never went back. Don't get me started about judges or bad behavior at shows. G

Thanks all! Skip I thought the same thing. Since these pics were taken I used a dark wash on the seats, drybrushed them with some flat red, and Dullcoted the lot. It looks much better now. More to come. G

I average 23 mpg for a 46 mile round trip commute. It jumps to 28 on the freeway at 75mph. I love this car and will continue to drive it until the wheels fall off. G
