  1. He might've brush painted them but there's no way in hell he didn't at least sand them back & polish them. And your point? Spray painted, airbrushed or hand brushed, most all of us polish out a paint job. Good results come from a good base, and I give credit to anyone who can hand brush paint and get these results. Brett's reference to Paul keefe above is a case in point, it takes a lot longer, and a lot more practise. G
  2. Looking good. The Monaco was the bomb, I can't wait to see this too. G
  3. Thank you gentlemen, you too Danno. Gonna ab the interior soon, stand by for more. G
  4. Exactly. On a side note, when I opened my kit and held up the body, my lovely wife commented that she could see the errors at once. She was not privy to the conversations here on the board, nor did I speak about them in her presence. She is a car person, and knows her Mustangs. Though she has never built a model she recognized the problem immediately. I found that interesting. G
  5. Fred they are slowly dribbling out across the various retailers. Mine came at a premium price from Hobby Town USA, because the Mrs said I shouldn't wait to build a model car I've wanted for so freakin' long. Thanks Dave, I'm taking my time and I'm going to get the interior as correct as possible. G
  6. This will be my take on the new kit. I decided to build one without roof mods as I just couldn't wait. Like everyone else I've been waiting for this kit for, well two decades. The 5.0 is in Valspar gray primer which I thought was a good match. The tranny is Tamiya Metallic Gray drybrushed with MM Aluminum. The interior is a combo of primers right now and the body is Tamiya Silver Leaf. G
  7. That is really good. It has that " Go ahead make my day" look to it. G
  8. Oh yeah that's what I'm talking about! Whooeee lookie that old Speed Gun 8, that was a fine piece of machinery right there. IIRC that's a white painted 'stang in the museum. It had red pinstripes too I think. I was too busy looking at the 59? Dodge. G

    32 Ford's

    Now that's what I think of when I visualize a '32. Good job D Monster. G
  10. You lost a gnat's azz worth of material when you cut the frame for the Z. It shortened it just enough to cause these issues. Me I'd add cut her again and space the front out a tad. Just my 2centavos. G
  11. I got home last night, ate dinner then sat at the bench. I got to this point when I discovered the outside mirrors have gone missing. Really? Now? Oh well. While searching and discussing options, I decided to photograph the build to date. Nothing special, just a good solid shelf model of a car I'd like to own. G
  12. Back on topic, sort of, I was stationed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard after returning to the world. We had free run of the place except for where the nuc boats berthed. My job was to guard those anyway so I had access. I literally photographed everything except the nucs and was never bothered. Imagine that nowadays. G
  13. I'm a native St. Louisan, my kool aid comes from the place on Pestalozzi Street. I've had so much in my life I now suffer from Anheuser's Disease. G
  14. Brad I'm seriously interested in those photos. If you don't want to post them here send me a PM. I've owned both a Vette ('93) and a Mustang ('69) and wish I kept the 'stang. I haven't been enthusied about a Corvette until the '14 model was shown. Even MrsG likes that one and she's a diehard Camaro fan. G
  15. What? It's a joke? and all this time we two have been striving for that perfectly off-topic irrelevant comment to snatch the coveted award. I'm crushed..................... I'm going to sulk and drink some none kool aid. G
  16. Oh heck yes. Heavy Half meant a whale of a load, not a fat girlfriend................................................ G
  17. Mark thats lesson #1, beware box art! Actually reversing the colors would be "technically correct" but you got it looking good as is. I only comment about the color in that you mentioned this being dark side build #1. Nice first try on the chipping too. I'm anxious to see the Marder built. Edward that is a good one for sure. G
  18. AKA " the Sgt Major ", and my fave "The War Department". Absolutely nothing wrong with the color, in fact polished like that it really makes an impact. Kinda like a bull in a china shop............................. G
  19. Not a bad first time build at all. I'm sort of left wondering about the color is all. Russian armor mostly means 4BO Green. I do like the peeling paint effect. If you continue into the "dark side" of modeling, and like Russian KV's, get one of the Trumpeter kits. They are the standard by which all are judged in this genre. G
  20. All the above X2 G
  21. He will get all the laughs at the meeting................................................... Just sayin'...................... Beautiful finish on that paint young man. G
  22. Amen. Dan Daly, John Basilone, Lewis Puller and many others who wore the forest green uniform are smiling from above right now. G
  23. Thank you all. I have made great progress since this initial post, but I have gone back to work today so more to come. G
  24. That would be way too cool. Hehehehehehehehehehehe........... G
  25. You sir are the master brusher of the forum. Please share your technique with us mere mortals. G
