  1. Paint. This my own mix of MM Acryl to replicate a scale version of the correct color. G
  2. I decided to take and build something quickly kind of taking a break after the headless horseman. This is a Dragon kit of a Panzer III N used in North Africa. The photo etch came with the kit as did the one piece flexible track. Now here's the twist. Yup, braille scale. Got this gem for $9.99 on sale. G
  3. Started a 1/72 scale tank and have a '49 Merc in the planning stages. G
  4. Charlie it has to be related to the idle time logged on thee beasts. It occurred on every CVPI I ever drove from '95 on until about '02 when we switched to Impalas. G
  5. They hold up well even after a law enforcement career. One thing though, they start to burn oil by the gallon at about 45,000 miles. The power train is bullet proof but something about 24/7/365 operation wears the engine to a point where it drinks oil. I'm talking like a quart, or more, per fillup on some of the higher mileage examples. Most agencies have a directive that the operator of the vehicle will check the oil at every fillup. G
  6. Chilly 65 degrees here in the Mojave desert. I thought I saw a cloud, but it was just an airplane. G
  7. I've been back and forth across the US on those roads. I rarely used the interstates for my travels unless it was the only convenient way or I had a deadline for some reason. I treid not to have deadlines when touring. I commuted a lot in the midwest. Trouble was I rarely got out of third gear on the way to work. I will not commute in this city. There is absolutely no regard for bikers here. We just had six hit in one incident where some idiot changed lanes, hit two other cars and then the entire debacle hit a bike club on a run. Turning left in front of a bike is the biggest issue followed closely by freeway antics. Lost another that way last weekend. G
  8. Ok well, he wasn't quite done for Halloween as my health issues interfered again. I also took a nice road trip to Phoenix, Arizona with my wife and grandchildren Saturday for the local IPMS show. Good times but the horseman sat at home unfinished. Good news, I had the morning to myself so he rides again! G
  9. That I will accept, whole heartedly. G
  10. My wife refuses to let me work seasonal at Hobby Lobby just for that very reason. G
  11. The whole "revving the engine thing" had a basis in the design of the bikes in days gone by. One carb fed both cylinders, poorly, and they tended to load up at idle after a few seconds. You had to blip the throttle, rev it, so to have a smooth take off when the light went green. My first solo ride as a newly minted traffic officer was a 1974 HD, FLH-P, 74 CI monstrosity. It required a bit of revving but not as bad as older bikes. New FI bikes don't really require that at all. One could even conclude most of the so called bikers nowadays haven't a clue, they're just feeding their egos. G
  12. I like the build a lot! I see Olds Toronado under the Packard. The artwork of others seem to be based on production cars as well. G
  13. Fantastic build! G
  14. Don't forget Mopery with attempt to gawk. and who could forget the perrenial favorites: "Failure to keep clean", and the best "Misuse of a bus stop". G
  15. I've been in your shop a lot over the years. G
  16. You should have heard my answer when I was in the Homicide Division.................................... G
  17. The Lincoln is currently sitting at a local dealership awaiting the final paperwork making it theirs. I will the step in a buy said Lincoln. It is literally the car owned by the little ol lady from Pahrump Nevada. She can no longer drive and relinquished the car. I went through that with my mother. It's a sad day as the elder gives up his/her independence, but someone else receves a good deal on a car. Yes Jonathan, I love my Lincoln's. I was hoping to have it before this weekend and take it on a good shakedown cruise to your place. I don't think that'll happen. Charlie my 2005 Town Car has got to be the best car I have ever owned. I bought it new as a retirement gift from me to me and it has been a wonderful experience. Carl I understand the desire for a 300, but if it's a good car you have to keep it. We have a 2005 Honda Civic MrsG bought new that has low miles. Until we married she never lived more than 5 miles from her casino. Paid for, reliable and economical we're keeping it until the wheels fall off. G
  18. Thanks guys! This one has been a lot of fun to paint. Ed the pumpkins are from the kit. G
  19. Bunch of PE came today. This will convert my DML M1A1 SEP to a Marine Corps M1A1. G
