says any vehicle allowed, even motorcycles - i'm sure a truck is fine.
-
well it looks like i'll be shopping for one of these kits thanks for the info.

i'll bite. only stipulation is making the deadline late 2010 due to the amount of projects on my work bench right now. i have absolutely no idea what i'm going to get, but it will be absolutely ludicrous and even humorous.

alright, update time. i gave the silver a full week to cure, and i'm glad i did. this is probably one of the best two-tones i've done! the orange did bleed a little on the back of the cab and i need to figure out a technique to fix that, otherwise it's perfect! (the bed will hide the bleeding) here's some pics: enjoy! up next - getting more paint to finish the truck bed. i accidentally fingerprinted it on a fender so i sanded it off and am going to re-do it. also, while waiting for that paint to cure, i'm going to start fabbing up the other stuff like the radiator, hoses, intercooler lines, and maybe the wiring to the injectors, along with a mock wiring harness. i did notice the 55 chevy truck model doesn't have a brake booster so i'm not sure what i'm going to do with that. i'll probably just leave it be. i decided to go with a black mesh grille and will make the intercooler from styrene sheets glued together and lightly etched with an exacto blade. updates will come soon! stay "tuned"

again, yours is a 92 or a 93. onlyl the 91 came with the spoilers shown on this thread.

alright so i took the stang out of the box to start it. i got the engine block put together relatively minimally, and got plug wires installed. did i mention i hate models where the whole engine including the oil pan is molded in two pieces instead of having a separate oil pan? anyways i did what i could with it, and here's where i stand at this time:

while i'm waiting for the silver to cure, i started working on the interior. modernization baby!!! It's not 100% perfect to my tastes yet, and i do have some paint touch-up i need to do with the seats, but this is a general idea. I installed a floor e-brake and updated sequential shifter to modernize the interior. if i had better photo etched interior window cranks i'd be much happier but i can't have it all i guess. not yet anyways. i also got some photo etched sparco seatbelts, which is why i put the bars between the two seats and on the edges, and the back since they are going to be 4-point harnesses. i'm still up in the air if i want to fab up the roll cage to have a full cage or just the lower half of the interior.. i do want it to maintain the street look, so i may not go with the full cage. let me know what ya think! oh - btw - the firewall is going to be the orange color. i didn't glue in the seats so i'll be able to mask off the interior (already got a template!) and also mask the outer part of the interior bucket then start the orange paint.

Real or Model #119 FINISHED!
wgflatliner replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
i went with real for the reflection of the other house on the front fender -
everything i'd want to say for praise has already been said. my first model was the old chevy lumina nascar.. the dupont jeff gordon vehicle, which was a level 3. apparently i was a little ambitious! my paint job was terribad. mix between terrible and bad. your model looks absolutely amazing for a first one. as a tip, when you get your next model, i have learned a pretty good technique to get all the wheels straight. What i'd do is place the model on it's side with the body not attached yet, and balance the chassis between two heavier objects so that way it stays straight while the glue dries. here's an example of what i mean: i would love to see more builds!!!

thoughts/suggestions? only problem i have with these is they don't fill up those huge tubs. it may look a little awkward. also, the stock undercarriage won't fit these rear tires without modification. maybe i will just figure out how to fill the bigger tubs more effectively.

hehe, thanks! that's what i'm hoping for. going for four mist coats, then a final wet coat. only need two more mist coats of the silver, then i'll do the wet, then after a week or so, that should be enough time for it to cure so i can mask off the silver and start the process again with the orange. Since i plan on doing this next week, that would be right before i go on vacation. i should pick up a white paint pen so i can make a nice pinstripe at the dividing line when i get back home. how hard is it to have a smooth look with the transition from one color to the other? (i usually have a hard time with there being like a bump or ridge between the two colors) any tips? if i'm going about this the wrong way with the process of painting two-tone, please let me know. thanks! p.s. Hey Nick: i noticed that you don't have my 55 in the lineup on the entries.. mine's the 55 cameo.

your truck is looking good. i just got mine masked and going to start the first coats of silver. as i stated about the weather.. yesterday was -21 outside. this morning -14. it's still cold out, but not AS cold. so i think it's time for me to start laying down some coats of paint. sadly the color scheme is somewhat similar to the other truck posted, so i'll see what i can do to mix it up. OH and i'll be working on the interior too. i just need to get some silver paint laid down and the rest should fall into place. pics coming soon!

i'm going real. you can see a reflection of another house on the front fender. -
i think it's coming along nicely. are you going for the full dragster type slicks or the mock stocker sized slicks or?

New Years modeling resolutions...
wgflatliner replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
my resolution won't be quantity, but rather quality. also on my plans: building a display case in the garage, a paint booth, and a model paint, brush, and too organizer tray. i know i'll also be taking on air brushing, so i hope to spend a lot of time working on honing my skills. -
well time for an update. i got the chassis pretty much done. i couldn't tell where the one hard line went on that reference photo, but now that i think about it, i'm wondering if it's the line for the brakes. i'm not entirely sure though, so i ran it to the little electric box looking thing. i need to also figure out how to plumb the rear diff oil cooler. the body has been stripped of all paint and the body is drying. tomorrow i'll probably primer it and start the paint process. i did get the photo etch set and carpeting, so the brake rotors are done that way, brake pedals, rear diff oil cooler, intercooler faceplate..

these slicks are slightly smaller diameter look better?
-
you're right. i shall work on it
-
alright so here's my update: Tamiya RX-7 R1 complete with detailed motor (how would i convert it to a 26b??) i picked up a pro sportsman 55 chevy to get the rear tubs. cut both of the chassis and massaged the rear tub into place.. test fit the slicks/skinnies lemme know what ya think.
