  1. This car looks very 'right' in proportion and stance. Just hate clunky hinges and 2-D interiors and engines.
  2. Ufe, Nice work so far. I would display it without the air cleaner as your carbs are very good to start. If you add linkage, hoses, spring, and carb opening detail, it would be a knockout. Here's some reference to help you:
  3. Thank you will do!
  4. Excellent! Be sure to post. I have Tamiya's 1/12 about 40% complete and stashed. I will use yours as better reference as I'm sure it will be first rate. Son (age 32) and I are huge Bean fans...(and Blackadder and Inspector Raymond Fowler fans...)
  5. Geoff, I don't know what 'woll mops' are (wool?) but you did a great job to not burn through the paint with a machine polisher. Fantastic touches like the green engine/drivetrain-really looks the part. Superb job. Will you build a 'Mr. Bean" version soon?
  6. Thank you guys. I knew I'd just have to poke around a little. Wish me luck...
  7. I've got a Liberty 1/6 SOHC Ford diecast motor which I'd like to correct and detail. I don't want to destroy anything by prying things apart but the only visible fasteners are screws to the base. Any experienced diecast take-aparters care to share the secrets? Thanks,
  8. Bill, glad to see you over here too. Your back must hurt from all of us slapping you on it-fantastic work and workmanship. Thanks for sharing your skills...
  9. I couldn't even get those location marks on the bed floor that perfect... Honest now Dave, what planet are you from??? And what do the WOMEN there look like??
  10. No No John! Don't buy anything! You did just what I did-paint over the raised letters or decals (in my case they were the kit-supplied dry transfers) with your favorite tan color, then come in with a toothpick tip of flat black for the vertical stencil lines, then weather or Dullcote to taste. It's a piece of cake! Comprendo?
  11. John, Beautiful. Another well-researched and insightful build. You're a man after my own heart with the weathered, race-track look as I did with my 1/12 GT40. Especially love the light soil and exhaust on chassis tin and small parts. -And NOBODY (except you and me!) gets the G'year logos right-the letters are tan/brown just like you got 'em-not bright white. Just a tiny suggestion if I might: the stencil lines run vertically through the 'O's, 'D', 'A' and 'R' like this:
  12. Thank you Daniel, Simon and Rob. That's nice to hear from experienced builders.
  13. That's very impressive work that you guys on your planet can do. On Planet Earth we can't do that kind of stuff...
  14. Then please post it! I have been trying to get more guys to build and show their versions of this kit. I know there are plenty better than mine. Brett and Mcan-thanks, it's nice to hear your positive opinions. Mcan, what display do you mean? Are you building a race track diorama?
  15. Super project, great history and brings back a lot of late '60's nitro memories. Know you'll do a 'religious' job. Can you tell us what Skinner and Jobe are doing currently? Sure miss 'em-far different than the corporate and foreign clown show in T/F we got now...
  16. X-31 Titan Gold is in the ballpark if you silver it down (X-11) a bit.
  17. Hans and Ed, Thanks for the nice words. Hans, I know you are correct, I try to minimize the background distractions and keep a sense of scale. It's just that the light was perfect there yesterday. Now I have to build a 'photo asphalt' slab! I'm not a huge fan of studio lightbox photography.
  18. Ahhhhhhhh...Thank you Harry. Sorry to be a cyber knucklehead.
  19. More photos. Hope you enjoy:
  20. Thank you Philo. I have come home with plenty of those reds and yellows on the nose of the Cobra...
  21. Thanks Jim and Don. Don-I HATE to say I've been thinking about another one-but I have. This one beat the snot out of me but that IS an attractive price-thanks for causing me another headache!
  22. EVERYBODY is being very nice-thanks to all. I thought ratty race cars would not be so popular! Gregg-looking into that now-thanks.
  23. Now complete and posted in the 'Under glass' section.
  24. This is my build from this WIP thread and my first completed project posted here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=34339&st=0 Obeying forum rules, the first photo shows that it's now truly 'Under Glass' Not finished as a polished show or street car-it's very close to how I hoped a frequently used track car for vintage events might look. Not sure why but shooting in macro modes causes many areas to look 'dusty' as you can see tiny specs in many shots. Also, the weathering is much more subtle in life as the strong light makes everything seem more pronounced. I'm sure it's not to the taste of many of you but I was happy to get these results from a disappointing Trumpeter kit. Hope some of you like the effort: -and finally, THE END!
