  1. That's a very clean car - a very nice, clean car. Cool.
  2. I hope it wasn't purchased as a gift from an unknowing buyer. That would be sad if a friend/wife/child purchased something for someone not knowing it wasn't a very nice replica...
  3. 307? We had a 1980 Malibu wagon. Not a real good car, but good enough for a family back in the day. The number 7 cylinder fouled about every 200 miles. Fun.
  4. Well, really, I don't know. I would imagine there is some sort of psychological reason, like Harry says, but it could be chemical too. Most of the time people do things because, in some way, it makes them feel good. I feel good when I am planning a model and even better when I finish one. There are probably some chemical reactions taking place in my brain giving me some sort of reward that I want to replicate, so I continue building models.
  5. Yes, but it will be very expensive. Resin is pretty easy to work with and readily available. There isn't a good reason not to use resin - or, in non-double negative speak...use resin.
  6. Get it. Paint it like an old police car and drive it around town... There is/was an old Rambler around here I seriously considered doing this to…I guess I didn't feel that bad for it though.
  7. As soon as I build a perfect model... The problem is in the self promotion. Have a little humility in your work, brother (addressed to any person labeling their models as "Pro" and "contest ready"). If somebody posted a model on this forum and propped it verbally as this seller has done, they would get ripped to shreds. Most of us are humble and just like to build and display, hoping others will enjoy.
  8. That is nice, but not really modern.
  9. Revell 2009 Dodge Challenger - best modern Hemi
  10. I can identify certain parts of it but had to take a break after 20 minutes of "close but no cigar"...
  11. That's a very nice looking Camino. I like the colors. Cool.
  12. Nice model and cool color!
  13. Brand is OPI, here is the color: I sprayed it over Tamiya light gunmetal. Thanks for all the comments!!
  14. Classy. Nice rework - beautiful paint job.
  15. Actually not real new - EPA approved it in 2012. Corn is King, brother! Let's see…worse fuel efficiency and massive - and it is massive - amounts of CO2 produced on farms growing corn…not to mention the massive - and it is massive - amount of fertilizer dumped on the ground and the waterways and eventually the Gulf...
  16. That is cool. I don't think I have ever seen an old photo with any of my old models - even though I had one wall covered with built kits. My memories of how good they looked are probably completely distorted too…I am pretty sure they didn't look as good as yours, though. I still have problems getting clean glass, and you were doing it at age 6?
  17. The kit above is only missing three of the cap clamps.
  18. Very cool. Awesome power source.
  19. Here are pre-body frame shots (I love kits with separate frames!):
  20. Here is my Revell 1957 Ford built as an early 60s mild/backyard custom. Door handles, hood ornament, trunk emblem shaved. I trimmed the "fins" from the bumpers front and rear and flipped the rear bumper. Headlights are from Revell '32 Ford kit- I wanted the semi-bug eye look like the Ford truck headlight conversions, but I didn't have any of those, so…that's my alternative. Grill is scratchbuilt from styrene strips. I replaced the kit decal fabric with an early 1960 style pattern. Wheels and tires are Pegasus. I lowered the rear about an inch but tried to keep it period looking. Under the hood is from the box outside of the fuel line which was replaced with copper wire (and I added a clear fuel bowl/filter) and wiring. Paint is fingernail polish and was the main inspiration for the whole model. I decided on chrome trim all the way (as opposed to the correct body colored door frames) just to contract the white and purple. And as seen at the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle... Thanks for looking!
  21. Any idea who cast the resin body? I like the lines...looks cool.
  22. Accurate, good looking carbs are few and far between in all kits...and 90% of bad and good get covered!
  23. Just celebrated 19 years on December 31...she means more to me now than ever.
  24. I'm glad they painted modelers in such a positive light - as a total dolt "expert at making model cars". Really simplified snap, but at least some tooling is done!
  25. The picture of the model is distorted due to a short focal length and distance to the camera - see how the opposite side showing through the window and the front fender show up more? So, not a great comparison. A member on the board did a pretty close overlay of the kit and a side view pic, and most of the contours are very close. The front and rear are a little stubby (and that depends on which photo - one shows the front dead on, another a little short) and the roof slants a bit too much, but overall, from the front of the hood to the back of the trunk, it's very close.
