  1. Great looking model! How was the construction? Everything go well? Nice color combo, too.
  2. MPC did a Vega "Wagon" funny car (Vegabond? plus other variants) - but…it has a molded in hood with a large opening at the back for the blower and a spot cut out of the windshild for the hood scoop. You could bash it with a regular Vega…unless there is another version I am not thinking of.. The early, small bumper Vegas are the hardest lot to find - they still are on eBay regularly, but you have to spend $50 or more to get one.
  3. Round2 has been "spicing" up reissues with things like pad printed tires, aluminum velocity stacks and inclusion of previously limited custom parts AND some newly tooled parts (grill for the ranchero), so they aren't just pumping out poop like the Walmart days AMT garbage. The collector boxes, prints, and brochures are really cool too, IMHO. They are doing what they need to do to make money - which is the whole purpose of their existence.
  4. Glad I got to see the Straightline team - they are both cool, well built models! Nice work on the Mustang too…I missed that one.
  5. That's a great collection. Nice work through the year. I really like the drag combo with the Challenger tow vehicle.
  6. As Mike stated…Hobby Design has some turned toggles in 1/24 scale. I don't think PE toggles would look too much like toggle switches - too flat.
  7. I always enjoy seeing the year end collections - so many models I missed through the year! I have four this year: 1964 Nissan Gloria convertible My attempt at a "modern" custom, 1994 Viper Honda S800 1990 Mustang LX Happy New Year!
  8. Love your clean, crisp building. A great collection of models, Peter.
  9. Here is a 406 I have in progress... IIRC, the block, intake and carbs are from the AMT 1962 T-Bird, most of the rest, including the Borg Warner 4 speed, is from the AMT Starliner kit - EXCEPT the valve covers. The best valve covers for the 406 are in the Mysterion kit (acutally has 2 406s) - the "thunderbird" script across the cover is the most accurate. Early 406s had problems staying together so Ford starting crossbolting the main bearings later in '62. - you can easily imitate that with two bolts on each side of the block...
  10. That's a cool idea - decal tuck and roll! - no idea how to make it readily available, other than copying the image and resizing to the appropriate size. I used the kit decals as a pattern to cut out new fabric pattern on my current project.
  11. Ouch! Some kids in my high school did that to an old Chevy, they didn't walk away. Or crawl. Speed kills - especially when combined with immature drivers and bald tires. Is there a story behind the carpole?
  12. Seems like yesterday to me too. Well, two great versions of it in 2013!
  13. Very nice. I particularly like the sheen. Clean building too. Great work.
  14. An easy wood is: Beige base. Dry brush darker brown streaks for grain Paint over with Tamiya clear orange.
  15. I bought the new Revell Mercury Wagon a couple days ago and thought "This has been a good year for new models!" So, kudos to the kit makers for some great kits. We like to bemoan some of the new products - and some, rightfully so - but overall, these kits we saw this year were well worth the $: What else am I forgetting!! I probably overlooked some other genres (trucks?) and reissues too, but I gave 'em all some money this year!
  16. Thanks! Merry Christmas to you, and all. I am going to try and get to a couple shows on the other side of the state in '14...

    My deuce

Very cool. I like the color combo - the metallic gray and burgundy work well together. The front end changes make it stand out from the usual '32 crowd. Nice, clean work!
  18. Great looking model! Excellent work.
  19. Those wheels look great. So you shaved the over-done flares? A tedious job that looks like it came out perfect.
  20. I received one earlier this year - called them and it was actually their mistake. No extra taxes.
  21. I looked at the Jo-Han Fury police car and it has similar in blue lens. I can send you one or two from an old (the lenses aren't molded perfectly, blue is swirly) version if interested.
  22. Suspension '49 Mercury Custom: Wagon: and that little spot on the back window molding where the mold bulged or something: It's minor, but will interfere with proper foiling if not remedied. The engine has different valve covers from the custom kit as well - same nice beehive, though!
  23. Here is a shot of the chassis plate/interior bottom/engine bay part. New Mercury Wagon on the left, Mercury Custom on the right: New gas tank, spare tire area and: ever so slightly more narrow (the wagon). Quick glance and they look the same, but they are not. The wagon is still channelled, though, correct?
  24. Revell's '57 Ford Custom? You would need four, but should be accurate.
