  1. It's all small doings in the big scheme, really, but we are here to discuss models, so models we will discuss. I have this kit on the bench now, so we'll see how the rest of it goes!
  2. Revell will never stop making kits if they can make money - all the complainers be damned! They will not pull a kit and destroy the thousands already made UNLESS they are changing something (think Charger or Lindberg '61). Any company is subject to customer approval - if it wasn't for customers, happy customers, I am afraid a business doesn't fair so well... As far as the "should we complain or grin and bear it" argument...don't settle. This kit looks like it was designed by two different teams - the body by one and the remaining parts by another, and one team still thinks models are for little kids to buy at Toys R Us. You tell me which. The engine, chassis, and interior are all well thought out and look nice (upon initial inspection). I really like the detail on the tranny hump UNDERSIDE! Never seen that! The lack of ejector pins on the interior. The underhood details. Separate wipers (and not plated). The ten hole wheels with open holes. The brake detail. Etc... But that error on the roof/door - which is possible to fix but I wouldn't classify it as easy - should be addressed by Revell.
  3. Thanks for he extra shots Brett. I actually went and bought one today and that is where I took a good, close look at the door. I will post a WIP through the long weekend...
  4. The windshield trim appears overly thick because the window mounts from the outside - I'll see how it looks during construction.
  5. Here is something, a very slight nuance, that Revell DID capture: You can see a slight bow in the A pillar - I, at first glance, thought "what the heck, is the roof squished?", but in actuallity, the A pillar does bow out a slight bit - so nice work there, Revell
  6. Okay, so now I can see for myself... It appears that Revell totally engineered the door/trim incorrectly. Here is the kit: Here is the real car: The trim and how the door would "open" on the model are incorrect - this could be compounding the issue as it appears they didn't take the time to correctly address not only the trim and door, but overall roof height. The gutter trim, if that's what it is, it way too thick and ends where it shouldn't and doesn't where it should. I am focusing mainly on these areas: I am going to attempt a weekend build of the Mustang - most of the family will be elsewhere, so...
  7. Going through a few searches...there is the "newer" Gloria and Cedric with square headlights. I think it's crazy, but totally cool, Aoshima is making a kit of a four door, rather mundane car. The hobby must be going strong in Japan!
  8. Perusing Hobby Search today, I came across some new stuff from Aoshima and a long awaited reissue from Tamiya: 2012 Sambar Truck and Van Looks like some type of engine detail: 430 Gloria Sedan (I don't know if this is totally new or a reissue, I haven't seen it before: Modified reissue, totally cool: And this from Tamiya - been a while since this kit was reissued:
  9. That turned out great. Very nice looking model. Are the wheels from a Riviera kit or AMT '69 Galaxie? Maybe they are the same or similar...I'll have to look at the '69 i guess...
  10. No worries, Austin - my post wasn't directed at you, just your question - I am not even close to an expert on this car, but the fact I could see the problem and not be a fan/expert is bothersome, kit wise...
  11. I will continue in a calm, non-threatening tone...but you can't deny this: ...adding the kit windows, looking at earlier posts, etc, will not change the fact that the roof is wrong. Bradley has the kit AND real 1:1 Fox bodies - he measured them - they are wrong. So...yes it's off, yes some people won't care, but please stop saying it isn't there - and don't try to convince yourself otherwise. Still, calm, cool, just a discussion...
  12. I am not a huge fan of Mustangs, but I think it's interesting to compare how this model compares to a 1:1... It's quite obvious the side window/top are not the same. This is more than a "I think the slight sloping of the roof doesn't match what I remember when" type of statement. It is clearly off. Not whining. Not saying boohoo. Just showing the obvious deviation.
  13. I think it all has to do with copyright stuff - isn't there something with Steve Scott and licensing or???
  14. I like the Floquil line - they have a nice selection of "different" colors to choose from, like 4 or 5 blacks. I kind of like the smell too. The bottles are so huge, one will probably last me 5 years! The RR hobby shop I go to still has a large rack completely full of paint as well.
  15. I am all over the board. I have lately been collecting a few "oddball" cars from MPC (Chevettes, Monzas, Pintos), but I really appreciate modern tooled, well engineered kits from Tamiya and Revell. Overall, though, I have kits from many makers.
  16. That front bumper is awesome. I had to look close to see of it was a 1:1 reference picture - the tube of glue gave it away. Nice work.
  17. Cool car, nice model. I have heard the "glass" is a challenge on these kits - although I don't know first hand...
  18. Great job. Very nice looking model.
  19. I'm with Harry. Who cares? Before the first model, people had hobbies that are no longer popular. What about CB radios? Are any of us worse off because nobody thinks that's still fun? Times change. I have more than enough to keep me busy forever or until I croak, whichever comes first.
  20. Beautiful model. Great work on what looks like a difficult body - all that chrome and comes curves. Nice.
  21. Tamiya's Honda S800 - one of my favorite cars. OOB with some wire added in the engine bay. Body is Duplicolor something-something brown (I have to find the cap) and interior is Tamiya semi-gloss black. Bumpers were repainted with Alclad II chrome and engine is multiple shades of Alclad II aluminums. This is a fantastic kit - although it's engineered so "tight" that if you don't drill out the mounting holes (I didn't until after paint), part fit is very difficult.
  22. 75 degrees and 18% humidity - couldn't be better.
