Hi David. The black on the body is paint. It is pretty smooth with only a couple minor flaws. The flames are nice. I can't imagine how much work went into that. What I can see though is that 1) The car is not nearly as clean as I thought, and 2) I really need to work on my photography!

Extremely clean build. In fact it might be the cleanest wrecker I've ever seen! ?

Interesting information. I guess I can call him. Not very interested in sending a check. I'm very used to and comfortable with the modern way of commerce and I've not written a check for months, if not years. Seems downright primitiv Do you have any idea about the quality of this casting? I'd rather rework good styrene kits than deal with an expensive, poorly cast resin one. Also would still need to purchase kits for the underpinnings, etc.

I get enough of that in real life without adding more things to worry about. I LIKE good zombie shows, and this one started out so well. Big fan of 28 Days Later with Cillian Murphy too!

Thanks for that info, did not know that. I do know I had to pay extra for the high back upholstery from whoever I bought it from at the time. I had a Dart parts car that had the center arm rest seat. Maybe I should have swapped it out.

Guys, one of the things I want to do is to create a replica of most, if not all of the cars I've owned in my lifetime. One that I'm really interested in at the moment is my 72 Scamp. I know there are Dusters and Darts and Demons around, and I know of one Scamp in resin (Bandit Resin I think) but no one answers emails from that site. Gone? What kits would be the best donors to get the nose and rear sections from while remaining somewhat cost effective? Here's the car I want to replicate. It had a 360 in it and the rare-ish high back split bench seat. A car I should have never sold...

Ok, I'm going to post this as a bit of a motivator. Not strictly a build thread, but I got this car in a built state in a large box of other models around 2008-2009. It had parts falling off and was thick with grime from sitting out, and there were many more interesting things to play with so I put it in it's box and promptly forgot about it. Now that my interest in modeling has been re-energized, I thought it might be nice to clean this up and put it on display. Unfortunately I didn't take any "before" pictures, but I consider this an in process "restoration" if you will. Out of respect for the skill of the modeler that built this many years ago I'm going to keep it as close as possible to his vision. He was an old school builder and the engine is wired with thread and has wire dipsticks added. One thing I have done is to remove the too thick beauty rings from the wheels (one was missing anyway) and touched up the rims. I like the look much better. I polished the flat red seats with Novus # 2 and a cotton swab which gave them a bit more of a realistic sheen. The paint is single stage so I was leery of trying to polish it too aggressively. I opted to use Novus #2 and #3, followed by a soft wax. I think it came out pretty well. I really appreciate the effort that went into the hand painted flames. I'm using Molowtow pens to replate some of the chrome that has perished, and I've Anyway, among other projects I'm going to try to add the final bits to make this car what it was intended to be by it's builder. I only hope to be able to build as well as this someday. Please excuse the dust. Will get some more pictures up soon.

Guys, I posted an introduction for myself several years ago, then never did anything else on the forum. Life happened. Now I'm retired with some time to catch up on modeling. I've been lurking and reading posts for several weeks and after reading this thread today about the Moebius Ramp Truck I realized I hadn't inventoried the kit. I found I had a warped deck, hood, floorboard and most critically, the frame. So I emailed Moebius customer service, literally an hour ago. I just got a response from Erik and he has parts on the way. That is amazing service. It's obvious they take this issue very seriously. On a side note, I checked my 71 Olds 442 kit and got lucky. Only a very slight bend in the A pillar. Hope to be posting more soon. I'm on a motorcycle kick at the moment. Starting my 1/6 BMW R75/5.

Yes, it is a picture of my Scamp when I first got it. I've had it a couple of years and actually have purchased another one since then. It's what I do in warmer weather. As far as the '29 project goes, I'm trying to decide whether or not to mold the cove into the frame rails. I have seen plain rails like this but the cove looks much cooler. I just don't know if I'm up to it.

If you saw my thread in the general section you saw that I have a large pile of kits to choose from. This particular car caught my eye because I love the work that's been done already as well as the possibilities that exist. I'm not a huge fan of rat rods, even though I admire the tough look but I do have a thing for cars that are still in work, perhaps because my 1:1 cars are always in a state of "not-finished-ness". My current plan for this rod is to make it look like a car that is in process. The beauty of this is that it will always be "finished" as a model. My goal is to go for realism without hyperdetailing. I want to make sure parts are in scale as much as possible and I'll be scratchbuilding what I can. This is a bit of a first for me so bear with me!
