  1. All of the stepsides I have ever seen when i worked at our local Chrysler dealership had body color painted wood bed floors(other than for the Little Red Express they were finished wood color).
  2. I have restored some pretty bad promos but there are things that there is no hope for.
  3. Id take it for free just to use for the possible parts it might have that may be ok....I hate to see any promo/model die but some things just cant be fixed....
  4. That is sweet Steve!....I am green with envy....LOL....
  5. Porky's....?
  6. Nice...!
  7. Yep that is right.... it came with some cool stuff too. There also was one called(Visible van)....Id love to have another stab at building these again now that I am not as young as I was then.
  8. For me its ALWAYS lack of needed parts... I build newer releases and older restorations and restore promos...I always have to need parts I cant find or afford to get.... bummer.
  9. Very nice!.... I love Johan kits and promos always have....
  10. I had the Ambulance and the custom one as a kid....love to have the ambulance or factory stock one again. They also had one called(Iron Sides)never could find one of those though.
  11. While I am not much on the 50s body styles myself I really like this one!....very very nice work!...
  12. Just saying we have never owned one that could or seen one around here that I know of....all the 4 or 6cyl ones we have owned or friends have were always needing something or worked on after they got a lot of miles on them. I once owned a 73 Chevy cargo van with a 350ci it was worked hard every day we owned it...when I sold it it had 479,000.miles on it and never asked for much of anything still ran great and fuel economy was not bad at all for a V-8....18 on the highway about 13 in town. I am just happy the manufactures are realizing that a vehicle with enough horsepower to pull it easily will get good mpg because it uses less fuel to move it rather than it working hard and consuming more fuel to do the same job. Most of todays engines make there horsepower from fuel injection,turbos,superchargers,etc....old ones made it with the engine itself....the combination of the old school power and new school together ads up.
  13. You all already know more than I ever will about this all.
  14. At least there starting to understand horsepower can equal mpg....a higher horsepower engine needs to work less hard to move the vehicle and less fuel....but there is a fine line between weight and horsepower too.
  15. Welcome Troy!
  16. Nice build...
  17. Hi Russ...Welcome! good building advise... Take your time and be careful...its not a race to get one done. Treat every part as if it were a model itself. learning is always trial and error...time and experience pays...it will come in time as you gain from each model.
  18. Yeah....a true muscle car needs a V-8....they will impress me when they can get over 400,000. miles from a 4 or 6 cyl. What is next?...front wheel drive only 1 ton pickups for the farmers to use with a 4 or 6 cyl?...yeah they will sell lots of those to the farmers that haul/tow heavy loads.
