  1. I must have ADD because I am starting another project. This time it is a '56 Ford Fairlane Victoria. I have seen more than my fair share of Tri-Five Hot Rod Chevys, but rarely do you ever see a Hot Rod '56 Ford since most of them are stock. They are out there, just not as common as a Chevy. My first car was a '56 Ford Customline 4-Door Sedan and I truly enjoyed owning it for 4+ months so I have an affinity towards a '56 Ford. I sold it so I could buy a '63 Ford Galaxie 500, but I can never forget that '56. This is the only picture of this car that I could find and I found it on Yahoo Images. I'll be replicating this car, but with a few minor changes. This is the kit that I am using, the AMT/Model King '56 Ford. The body has been assembled, but I think I'll add a small rare earth magnet and a sliver of metal into the door jambs to help keep the doors closed. The 292 CI Thunderbird Dual Quad engine is mostly assembled and in the process of being wired and the transmission has been replaced with a Ford C4 Automatic trans. The body will be painted in a two-tone of Model Master Go-Mango roof and lower body with a Tamiya TS-45 Pearl White hood, trunk, and upper doors and a Tamiya TS-65 Pearl Clearcoat. More to come...
  2. I painted the CJ5 this morning with Tamiya TS-48 German Gray which is a flat color. I may add a coat Tamiya Semi-Gloss Clear to the body and hood after they have had sufficient time to dry. I may just skip the Semi Gloss Clear and weather everything since this Jeep has spent most of it's life out in the open desert and the body and hood are not glossy. More to come...
  3. I added another coat of Tamiya TS-26 Pure White to the roof and doors. When this has had sufficient time to dry, I'll mask off the doors and roof and paint the fenders, hood, and trunk lid with Tamiya TS-14 Black. More to come...
  4. Well, after sitting on my hands for a week or two, I decided to clear coat the Dart GTS this morning. Two mist coats and two medium coats of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear. I may do one more coat of clear and then wet-sand the body and hood. More to come...
  5. I did a little work on the Jeep this morning. I sanded the Bondo spots smooth. Next up is primer. There were two holes in the back of the Jeep and I filled them with a couple of plugs made with styrene rod. I used a black wash on the lug nuts and the wheel slots. More to come...
  6. Sorry Randy! You have been doing so many restos lately, I thought this was one of them. I like it!
  7. That is a sharp looking 'Vette Randy! Good job on the restoration!
  8. Thank you Christian! My pleasure!
  9. Thank you Dirk!
  10. I finally got foiling done on my Dart GTS. Now it's off to the paintbooth for clearcoating! More to come...
  11. I didn't like how the front end of the Fury was raised, so I figured out a way to lower the front slightly without the Fury looking like a 4X4. I cut off the retainers for the chassis at the front of the car and added some styrene across the top. I added some styrene to the forward edge of the chassis. This will move the edge of the chassis and front suspension up into the body. Now the front suspension sits where I want it. More to come...
  12. Thanks guys! Ed Daly, Jon passed away back in December 2017 from complications of diabetes. He was staying at the VA Hospital.
  13. Looks real good! I just got this kit and was contemplating a grille guard for the front end. You've given me some ideas...
  14. Thank you Tony! I've been looking at the car since I posted the pictures and I don't really care for the raised front suspension. I know that the chassis was set up as a battery powered car, but I am changing all that. I need to figure out a way to lower the front suspension without taking it all apart.
  15. A mockup to check my work. The chassis is nearly complete. Just a couple of things more. More to come...
  16. Unfortunately, I have placed this build on the back burner for a bit. I'll get back to it shortly.
  17. Looks great! I just finished one of these a few months ago. Plan on using strips of Bare Metal Foil in place of the kit supplied metal strips. They won't stick at all!
  18. I noticed the lack of the seat back after I had started on body work and was looking through the rest of the kit. I was a relative easy fix on my behalf, but really? No seat back? What were they thinking?!!!
  19. Thanks Dan and Joe! The real ones are hard to find, especially around here. They were used hard and put away wet. Many were rolling rust buckets. The kits have been hoarded or built over the years. I got three that will be built over time.
  20. You are correct Tom. Scale is the big issue here and there is a big difference between the AMT Joker/Goon Car and the Yodel police cars. The 1/24 Scale Yodels seems a tad bit bigger in 1/24 scale compared to other models that I have in that scale. To me, the difference is just too big and I do get into the habit of wanting to scratch build something from time to time.
  21. I started filling in the holes in the chassis for the electronic bits and pieces and extending the rear axle. One of the things I had noticed was the front seat had no back to it. So out came my tools and a sheet of .020 plain styrene, did a little tracing and some cutting and I have a seat back for the front seat. When the glue had dried, the body and chassis when into the paint booth for some primer. More to come...
  22. Looking good! This looks almost like the '53 Ford convertible that my Dad owned back in the day! My Dad's '53 had an actual Continental kit instead of tack-on fake tire carrier.
  23. Thank you Carl, Marty, and Tulio! Dixon Hill?!!! Are you referring to the Holodeck character from ST:TNG? Well, everyone gotta love a character from the imagination! McNally loves his American cars, but the Beetle was his first car as a teenager. The oldest car he would drive is his late father's '57 Ford Custom aka Spearmint and not something from the '40s.
  24. Even though it has been raining today, I got out of the house and went down to the LHS to look around and to pick up some paint for the Fury. I got a can of Tamiya TS-14 Black and Tamiya TS-26 Pure White. I detailed the radio and microphone after assembling the unit and adding the microphone. Sometime in the late '60s or early '70s, LAPD added numbers to the roofs of their patrol units for identification for the helicopters to see. I wanted 012 in tribute to Martin Milner who played Off. Pete Malloy and I found some number decals in my decal stash. More to come...
  25. Thank you Joe! Much appreciated!
