  1. I don't need no stinkin' chat room!
  2. I worked on the F-100 yesterday afternoon and I started to think about the colors I have chosen. They may be fine for a stock F-100, but this is more of a modified truck. These are my colors now...Dupli-Color Forest Green Pearl for the roof and lower body and Tamiya TS-42 Light Gun Metal for the hood and upper fenders, bed, and tailgate. I finished wiring the engine and building the chassis. The engine is wired in the correct firing order. More to come...
  3. Thanks Curtis! I just love an old school rake! Get the nose down and the butt up in the air! While the current trend is to "lay frame" or lower the entire vehicle, it does become an issue in a parking lot with speed bumps, or as they say in Texas...armadillos!
  4. Last night I assembled the front and rear suspensions. This morning I added the wheels and tires to the suspensions and mocked up the body to check the stance and I didn't like it. The front wheels stuck out and the nose was too high. I decided to cut off the spindles and raise them higher on the I Beam. Another mocked up and this is much better! An old style rake that I really like and the wheels and tires are tucked in under the fenders! Now to clean up the modification I just made. More to come...
  5. Thanks Mark! The series lasted only one season and was cancelled by CBS.
  6. Looks great, Luis!
  7. In order to keep the wide wheels and tires within the rear fenders, I had to shorten the rear axle. Just needed a little careful measuring and cutting. I made some pins from 1/16" rod and superglued them into the wheels. I have some Pegasus 19" disc brakes to paint up and add to the wheels. I'll be adding ignition wiring so I drilled out the cylinder heads. These heads look different from the 302 cylinder heads that I normally see online. So I guesstimated where the plug holes should be. More to come...
  8. Thanks Johnny! It was a decent show to start, but I think they did more damage when they retooled the show half way through the season.
  9. I am now starting the process for painting a two-tone paint scheme. First, a couple mist coats of Tamiya TS-26 Pure White. I paint the entire body in the Pure White with the mist coats and will build them up from there. More to come...
  10. I remasked the body and painted the body with Tamiya TS-14 Gloss Black. More to come...
  11. Looks good! Just so you know, the bumps on the hood scoops do not belong there. They can be removed.
  12. Before turning in last night, I tried to take the bow out of the hood by pushing the center of the hood down with no luck. I tried a different approach by spreading the hood sides with my fingers. This took out a lot of the bow, so I'll try this after running the hood under hot water, spreading the hood sides again and then running it under cold water. I had painted the engine a week ago and gave it another coat last night. I still need to drill my plug holes. More to come...
  13. My new project is the Moebius '72 Ford Sport Custom pickup. The cab in this kit was badly warped and I had sent away for a new one. I also have the Moebius '71 Ford Ranger pickup and I tried to get a new cab for that one and Moebius said I would have to buy the cab from them for a replacement. If and when I do decide to build the '71 Ranger, I'll decide further if the cab is fixable. I am going for a two-tone paint scheme on this one. Testors Pearl Dark Green and Testors One Coat Lacquer White Lightning. The kit wheels don't look right to me with a really wide rim to spoke spacing, so I am using a set of Pegasus Hellas and Holli's (19 " and 23") wheels and low profile tires. I'll have to shorten the rear axle to keep the wheels and tires under the fender. The hood fit is terrible and I have been trying to reshape the hood. The frame is partially assembled and almost ready for paint. The engine is partially assembled and will need plug holes drilled into the heads for leads from the MAD prewired distributor. More to come...
  14. After wetsanding and making a mess of the Fury, I have masked off the body and repainted the white with two coats of Tamiya TS-26 Pure White. I'll remask tomorrow and paint the black with Tamiya TS-14 Gloss Black. More to come...
  15. After doing some more research, I have repainted the interior door panels. So far the only body parts that got any paint are the headlight bezels. Another coat of white primer and I am almost ready for paint! More to come...
  16. Thank you Carl! It's getting there!
  17. Yes, they have gotten kind of pricey over the years and I can understand the price increase since they have been discontinued and I believe that Yodel themselves have gone out of business. I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time when these came available for the right price.
  18. The Furys were considered a mid-size car, whereas the Gran Furys were the larger full-size cars.
  19. Thank you for the above pictures! I guess I missed some important body lines that I need to scribe! It's a good thing I haven't started painting the body just yet!
  20. Thank you Chris! Good luck with your build!
  21. I'm happy to have inspired you to build a '56 Ford! I'm looking forward to see your vision come to fruition.
  22. I have completed the interior of the '56 Fairlane! I had looked at other images of the '56 Ford interior and I noticed white seat belts and they looks nice! Oh well, too late! More to come...
  23. I have been avoiding this...wetsanding! I knew that the black on this build wasn't good and wetsanding is removing a lot of the flaws in the black. And, I hate painting black! If you look at my collection, you can count on one hand the number of black painted models I have on the shelves. I don't seem to have any issues with dark colored paints (dark green, dark blue, etc.), but black is such a difficult color to paint. So far, this is only 3200 grit sanding pad and I have to go over the body again with the 3200 grit on the spots that I seem to have missed. More to come...
  24. I have finished my Jeep CJ-5 from the 1971 TV series, Cade's County starring the late Glenn Ford and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.
