Thanks guys! I have finished my '71 Satellite and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.

This is my Monogram '71 Satellite paint with Duplicolor Light Blue Metallic with a black interior, MRC Cragar SS mags and Firestone Wide Oval tires, a 440+6 with a 4-speed transmission from the Monogram '70 Roadrunner.

Your Challenger is shaping up pretty well! Keep it going! Last night I did a mockup of the interior, chassis, body, and the hood and found that the engine sat too high in the chassis. This morning, I ripped out the engine from the chassis and modified the engine and transmission mounts and got the engine as low as I could get it. I added the wheel adapters to the MRC Cragars and will paint the adapters semigloss black. After polishing the body and hood last night, I added a wet coat of Testors Clear Gloss Lacquer this afternoon. More Mopar to come...

Thanks guys! The stripes were made with Tamiya TS-6 Matt Black. I believe that one of the resin casters out there does make the Satellite hood, but I don't remember who that caster is or what scale the hood is produced in. I clearcoated the body and decaled the hood and clearcoated it, too. The chassis is in-process. This is just a mockup with the front and rear suspensions. More Mopar to come...

Thanks John and Carl! I just crossed another hurdle with the Satellite...foiling! It wasn't a lot this time. I finished the engine and mounted it in the chassis. I need to finish the chassis by lowering the front suspension, adding the exhaust system, and rear suspension. More Mopar to come...
-
Thanks Carl and Glenn! The stripes came out just as I wanted. What's this? I had forgotten that I had this stashed away and I think they'll look great on the Satellite. More Mopar to come...

Dan, this Satellite is the Monogram 1/24 scale version. Bill, as far as I know, this model has never been re-issued, but was converted into the '71 GTX. You could get the GTX kit and remove the GTX script and build a Satellite/Roadrunner. One of the things I have been thinking about for this Satellite is striping. I didn't want to order any decals and I didn't have anything in my decal drawer suitable for the Satellite, so with ingenuity being the mother of invention, I got out my Tamiya and 3M tape and started masking the hood and front fenders for a Plymouth inspired stripes to be painted in black. I have finished the interior. I really like how the Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter looks sticking up from the console. More Mopar to come...

sfhess, you are correct. But, to me this is a standard Cougar with a 428 CJ and even though AMT/ERTL botched this kit, that was the way I built it. A clock on the dash wasn't going to stop me from building that way. Thanks.

Adrian is correct about the engine color. The actual color for the '68 440 is Chrysler Engine Turquoise. Chrysler Engine Blue was not used until 1972. But, this is your Charger and you can build it any way you want and it is looking real good so far. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Carl! This is a really nice color and I'm hoping it will really pop when I clearcoat it with some gloss. A third coat of paint and a mockup with the hood. Looks good to me! And, my interior color is black! The dash, steering wheel and shifter are done. The engine is still being worked on. More Mopar to come...

Thanks Dennis! It is one of the colors I am considering.

Thanks Ron and Mike! The A100 could be and has been rodded in many different versions and mine is no different. I am somewhat amazed as how this topic keeps coming up even though my A100 was finished almost 2 years ago! Maybe it was the way that I unceremoniously announced that it was done and off the bench. Here's the link to my final pictures. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/?showtopic=67162

Thanks Carl, Rob, and Dan! I am not going for the plain Jane sleeper look this time. I may change the wheels to a set of Magnum 500s. This model appears to have been built in a weekend or in a weeks' time like many of my older builds from 20+ years ago. This one will take a bit to build and to finish properly. I wish that this kit would be reissued again, but I'm sure it was modified into the '71 GTX kit instead and I doubt that Revell-Monogram would back-date the tooling. I have decided on a color...Dupli-color Light Blue Metallic. I'm still undecided on the interior color. Black, white, blue, tan??? We shall see. More Mopar to come...

Did you ever have one of those projects that just got away from you or just got out of hand? I do. Case in point...my Monogram '71 Satellite. I stole the engine out of this model for my '70 Roadrunner because it has a single carb intake with an automatic transmission and I would replace the engine with the unbuilt 440+6 Barrel from the '70 Roadrunner kit. Easy peasy! Yeah...right! Last night I decided to add ignition wiring to the engine and drilled out the distributor and cylinder heads. This morning, I took apart the rest of the model. I had originally built this model back in the mid to late Nineties, so most of the Satellite came apart without too much drama. Now I must clean up and repaint just about everything including the body. Now this project has gotten out of hand! So, this is where I am at with this rebuild. The model has been disassembled and is awaiting cleanup. The body will have its mold lines and old decals removed and then repainted. I have yet to decide on a color. This is the engine from the '70 Roadrunner and it's partially assembled. It is a direct replacement for the '71 Satellite engine with all mounting points in the exact same place. This engine has a 4-speed trans on it so the interior console will be modified for a pistol grip shifter. I will separate the exhaust from the rear axle, add a clutch pedal, and detail the interior. More Mopar to come...

Thanks Chuck and Carl! I have finished my '69 Cougar 428 SCJ and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.

This is my AMT/ERTL '69 Mercury Cougar 428 SCJ painted with Testors Competition Orange with a Tamiya Matt Black interior.

Thanks Gordon, Carl, and John! I have finished my HUG and I would like to thank all those who have viewed and commented on my WIP.

John, I am not a member of the Granite State Modelers. I had checked them out, but I chose to join Classic Plastic Model Club instead. With no offense to GSM, I picked the fun club!
-
So do I, Dan. This one has been sitting on the bench since mid August and I want it off the bench. The hard part is waiting for everything to dry enough so I can handle the model without fear of messing up the finish.
-
Thanks Ben! I foiled and clearcoated the Cougar this morning. I applied the hood stripe decal and I will clearcoat the hood after the decal has had sufficient time to dry. More to come...

John, I bought my Mopar Turquoise and Street Hemi Orange Engine Paint from Summit Racing several years ago. The idea of an open head with the exposed valvetrain is good, but alas, I do not have the patience or the skill for creating it. The model club you inquired about is called the Granite State Modelers and they are still in existence today. Here's the link to their website. http://home.comcast.net/~vf84/

Thanks Lee and John! It sure is nice to see some "locals" on the forum! If you are interested, I belong to the Classic Plastic Model Club and we meet one Saturday a month at the Lowell VFW in Lowell, Mass. I know it may be a bit of a hike from Concord, NH, but we would love to have you visit us and bring along some of your builds for "Show-N-Tell". Click the link in my signature for more info. I painted the engine block this morning with Mopar Turquoise Engine Enamel. There is a Hemi engine in this kit along with an engine stand, so I have decide to assemble and paint both to display with the Charger. The Hemi is painted with Mopar Street Hemi Orange Engine Enamel. More Mopar to come...

Thanks guys for following! Thanks for the offer of the decals Byron. I doubt I'll need them, but it's good to have a back if I do. Sorry John. No story with this build, but I do appreciate your interest in my stories. I am currently working on a story for a New Hampshire State Police Dodge Charger, but that may not come around until next year. Brandon, don't give away the plot! Actually, there is no Vanishing Point story in the works. Sorry!
