The Story A 1980's Chevy Malibu 4-door sedan slowly drives by the machine shop that McNally is watching and returns a couple of minutes later. He gets out of his Charger with his camera to get a picture of the license plate when an explosion in front of the shop goes off. The Malibu speeds away while McNally quickly snaps a few pictures before the car rounds the corner and disappears. He calls the fire department on his cellphone and waits for them to arrive. After the fire is out, the fire inspector and police arrive and questions McNally. He must get home to view the pictures on the larger screen of his computer and maybe, just maybe, have a picture of the Malibu's license plate. The Build I made a template of the engine bay so I could remove the excess plastic from the convertible body. Out came the Dremel with a cutting disc and I started cutting. There are two mounting studs under the cowl that I removed in anticipation of removing some of the extra plastic from the cowl. McNally will return...

Chris, I use Tamiya TS-29 Semi-Gloss Black for the interior. For the exhaust, I used Model Master Aluminium on the muffler and Steel Metalizer on the pipes.

Thanks Darrick, Casey and Chris! It is unfortunate that Revell put the copyright on both sides of the chassis. I think it would be better if they put it on the inside of the chassis or print it in ink to make it easier to remove. I finished the interior and chassis last night. Have a look... I can now turn my attention back towards the hood and body and get those finished. Then I can start assembly of the major componants. More to come...

Here is my Revell '67 Charger built with a 383 and 4-speed with '66 Monaco wheel covers from The Modelhaus.

Thanks Jim! I should be able to get the hood painted sometime this weekend. Finally, a chance to work on the Nova this morning. I started by foiling the shifter boot plate on the chassis and installing the back seat. I detailed the side panels and the dash. More to come...

Dirk, my only expectation for this kit was that it would fit the full detail kit chassis. That appears to be so, but I am now thinking about the interior plate. Can I swap it with the full detail kit interior plate and use the the snap kit side panels without too much modification? The reason I bring this up is that the full detail kit chassis plate has the engine bay inner fenders and the snap kit does not. I am comparing these parts as I write this and my initial thought is to remove the rear seat from one and attach it to the other. The inner fenders are molded in such a way that I would end up making a mess out of them...so a simpler solution is needed...remove the rear seat from one for the other. I was hoping for a simple swap, but the engineering from the full detail kit varies from the snap kit. This type of swap wil require some careful planning.

I wish you good luck on that build, Jonathan! The Story It is late at night and McNally sits in his car watching his client's business and thinking about ADA Scotson and the recently released Jake Colemark whom seems to be watching the ADA. McNally brought along his notes from his investigation of the murder of the store clerk to review them. Maybe he had missed something along the way. He starts thinking about his frame of mind during that investigation...was he distracted by something? Was there someone else that he could have talked to? It is late and there is nothing going on at his clients business as the Boston PI sits, waits, and watches. The Build I started removing mold lines from the body. At first glance they don't seem to be that bad, but the more I sanded, the more they stood out. They are found on all four corners of the body. And, across the top of the rear fenders. McNally will return...

Thanks guys. And, there's more... I was able to get a coat of paint on the Nova this morning with the rest of the house still asleep. A cup of hazelnut coffee and a can of paint...good combo! Unfortunately, the hood didn't fair as well. An errant hair found its way on to the hood after I had wiped it down. The hood is now in the purple pond. More to come...

Right now, I have no plans of kit bashing the convertible with the GT500. It might be possible, but surgery would have to be performed on the one-piece convertible body, whereas the GT500 has a separate front and rear panel. All I can say is, if there is anyone out here who is willing to try this kind of a kit bash, then have at it.
-
Thanks Jonathan! I have heard of this being done, but no one has shown any sort of proof that it can be done. Well, I am willing to give it a try and based upon my investigation (I'm starting to sound like McNally here), it is plausible. We shall see once I get into the inner working of both kits.
-
This should be good! I compared the bodies when I got the Snap Tite kit last night and both bodies are the same size and same wheelbase. The convertible body should require minimal work to fit the full detail kit chassis. The lift off hood makes me think that Revell may have intended to make this a full detail kit at one point. I plan on using the SnapTite chassis for the full detail kit body.

I have returned and I have this posted in On The Workbench as well. A new WIP featuring a new storyline with McNally, Boston PI. This WIP is more about the build than the story. The story is only to illustrate what the build is about. All characters are fictitious and are not related to anyone real or deceased. The Build I am using the new Revell 2010 Mustang GT kit and the body from the Revell 2010 Mustang GT Convertible Snap Tite kit. I wanted something in the way of a green for paint and a search shows no green paint for the 1:1 2010 Mustangs at all. I am using Model Master No. 28101 Citrus Yellow Metallic Lacquer for this build. I think this color will look good on this model. The Story Justice In Her Eyes ADA Caitlyn Scotson storms out of the courtroom after losing a case...something she is not use to. She passes McNally, Boston PI and sneers at him since it was his testimony that got the defendant out of a murder charge. In the hallway, McNally sees his part-time employer, lawyer Charlotte "Charlie" Rothmann and walks up to her and asks if Charlie knows the ADA. She replies she only knows the ADA by reputation alone...that she is very good at her job with an excellent conviction rate. McNally says that the ADA is mad at him because of his testimony cost her the case, but he has to go since he has a stake-out to set up and he wants to get a nap in before he starts working tonight. McNally is getting his gear together when he hears a car pull up in front of his house. He looks out the window to see a metallic green Mustang convertible parked at the curb with ADA Scotson walking towards his front door. He opens the door to greet her as she barges in past him and starts demanding an explaination to his testimony in court. He tells her that he will not explain his testimony as he did present the facts, as he had investigated them, in court. He offers her a beverage, which she refuses, she turns and walks out the front door and back to her car. McNally stands in the doorway, watching the ADA leave, as he sees the newly released Jake sitting in an old Ford Taurus start the Taurus and leave. McNally takes note of Jake watching Caitlyn as she drives away and decides he'll have to see what is going on with Jake. McNally will return...

A really nice job on the Nova, Andy! I like it a lot! I was hoping to get the Nova painted today, but that didn't happen. Maybe I'll find some time during the week.

I got my email from Model Roundup yesterday and saw the Moebius 1955 Chrysler 300 available for pre-order at $22.90 with delivery slated for April 2012. I got my pre-order in and I can't wait to get it. I've seen the Hudson Hornet kit up close so my expectations are high on this one! Ohh...is it April yet?!!
-
When I got the kit, I was impressed at the crisp molding and engraving. So far, everything fits like it should.
-
Thanks for the tip Darrick! Right now my plan is for a body colored bed and some more sanding of the floor pan. The floor pan looks to be all metal with no wood engraving. BTW...someone elsewhere had commented on a Jet Ski that was overhauled on Overhaulin'. I did a little research and found this picture.

Thanks Brandon! Last weekend, I decided to fill in the score line on the body pan for the A100. I applied Model Master Liquid Cement to the channel and fill it with strips of Evergreen styrene. As I had expected, the glue bubbled on the other side of the pan and a little sanding removed the bubble. I spent quite a bit of time sanding the underside of the pan. I'm not too sure if I wanted to go ahead and apply some putty here as I am afraid I would end up making more of a mess than anything else especially with the ribs of the pan being a bit shallow. I think I need to do a little more sanding here. More to come...
-
WOW!! What a small world! Oh...didn't I tell you...I know a lot of things about a lot of people. Don't tell anyone! It'll be our secret. Brandon, it's only rain!
-
Thanks Darrick and Kane! I'm hoping to get the body painted sometime this weekend with the Tamiya Metallic Green and get started on the interior and chassis.
-
Getting out of work early for a long weekend gave me a chance to work on the Nova this afternoon. Basically, parts prep and painting. I even got the body and hood into a coat of white primer. More to come...
-
I have this kit unbuilt, but from what I see, there are no extra parts to this kit except for the up-top.
-
This is going to be an interesting project to watch, Dirk. I like where you are going with it and look forward to more progress. Keep up the good work!
