Surprise, surprise, surprise!

I have finished my '66 Shelby GT350H and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who took the time to view and to comment on my WIP. Thank you!
-
This is my '66 Shelby GT350H painted in Model Master Wimbelton White and built box stock.

Well Brandon, I suppose I should feel honored that you are using my WIP for reference for your Roadrunner. I will watching you build and good luck! BTW, are you going to correct the rear wheel openings since they are the wrong shape?
-
Thanks Andy! I had to have something different than the usual black GT350H and white was the alternative.

It's starting to come together now! The interior, body, and chassis are together! More to come...
-
Thanks Niko! I was hoping to finish the Shelby this weekend, but life has once again, gotten in the way. Oh well...
-
After a 4 hour stint at work this morning, I was able to spend some time on the Shelby afterwards. I've completed the interior. The wheels and tires are done. The side windows were foiled and all glass was installed. More to come...

Yesterday morning, I clearcoated the body and hood of my GT350H. After several hours of drying, I packed it up and took it to the Classic Plastic Model Club meeting and wowwed them with the fact that I was able to clearcoat the decals with Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear. I explained my procedure of 2 very light coats at first and then wait 20 minutes followed by 2 more slightly wetter coats, 1 hour drying time and a wet coat of clear. No wrinkling or damaged decals. More to come...

Thanks Tyrone. The paint looks wet since I took the pictures right after applying paint. A little progress for this morning before I head off to work. I started on the engine this morning. The belts and pulleys were just painted and are drying. What's a Shelby GT500 without an open element air filter? I remembered that I had one from Scale Dreams left over so this will get cleaned up and painted. I'll replace the incorrect closed air box with a scratch-built open air box. More to come...

I really like the Tamiya paints and I really haven't had an issue using them. I have used MCW paint, but they tend to be too chemically hot for my liking lately.
-
Thanks Jackson and Eyner! Eyner, The paint was applied with the spray can. While some like to decant their paint and use an airbrush, I seem, at times, to do better with a spraycan.
-
Thanks Jackson and Charlie! Charlie, the interior is black as the 1:1 cars were back in '66.
-
I got the body painted with Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red. I'll start on assembling the engine next. More to come...

I had placed this build on the back burner until I had primered my '07 Shelby GT500 this afternoon and decided to pull it back out to work on the decals while the primer was drying. This is what I started with. Part of the issue with the hood stripes is the way the decal is cut for the scoop opening. I made sure to cut the opening when I removed the decal from the main sheet. This took me almost 25 minutes of working the decal into place with water and setting solution. More to come...

Thanks Charlie and Romell! Charlie, having built 6 of these Mustangs in the past, which can be pretty much the same under the body, I have a good idea of how they go together and I haven't had any issues with assembly. As a matter of fact, I have yet to build one box stock having to modify one to some degree or another by choice. I just picked up the 2010 Mustang GT yesterday at the Hobby Emporium 30% Off Sale and will look over the engine parts later when I get the chance. Thanks for the heads up!

To get me back at building again, I have started a new project that I have been wanting to do for a while. This is not a last minute whim, but a project that was planned a few years ago and hopefully, one that will keep me pumped up for a while. Del Paone, the president of the Classic Plastic Model Club that I belong to, has a 2011 Shelby GT500 that is red with a white center stripe. His Shelby is the influence for my 2007 Shelby GT500. I had originally planned on a white with blue stripe, but Del's has won me over to red. The kit is Revell's '07 Shelby GT500. I am replacing the kit's truck-like tires with a set of Pegasus 225/45-18's and the paint is Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red. Bodywork has begun with the removal of mold lines and adding the front grille and bumper. More to come...

I had the same problem with Photobucket and contacted them immediately and they corrected the problem. They stated that there was an issue with java script.
-
I hope to see you there!

Well, the Classic Plastic Model Club show is tomorrow and the Shelby is no where near done. Work has been a real bear this week working 10 to 12 plus hours a day and no time at home to work on the model. Maybe I have something on the shelf that can qualify for the Club Challenge provided I still have the instructions. Now, where did I leave those...

I have been away from this build for a while due to life getting in the way of my hobby. I spent the evening foiling the Shelby and I must say that it is looking pretty good to me. Now I can clearcoat it and prep for decals. More to come...

Lets Build some Models
mrmike replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And now, for something on a more serious note (and just my two cents worth). During the time that I have been a member of this forum, I was nearly driven away due to the antics of those who shall remain nameless and because I have chosen not to remember their names. Some of the reasons I joined this forum was to learn from others and to show my builds. Rommell's call for us to go and build some models is just that...let us go and build (or assemble) some models! If the actions of others who want to disrupt this forum continues, I have no qualm about leaving this forum as I have no need to see or hear their nonsense. Everyone practically shouts just how great this forum is and I have seen a lot of great work done here and have been influenced by some of the builds (and builders) on this forum. But, there are times... So, I echo Rommell's call to go and build some models, and maybe I can finish something in the process! -
It could be due to the Labor Day holiday and many have either gone away for the weekend or are busy with family and friends.

Brandon, I hope you and everyone else will understand that if I do make any progress on the 'Cuda, I will post it here. Please do not bump the thread or post "Any progress yet?" on it. Thanks.
-
Again with the bump! Bumping this thread is not going to get me to finish it faster, especially since I have set this one aside so I can focus on my Shelby GT350H and Hurricane Irene. When I started this thread, I stated that this is going to be a slow build and that is not going to change. I appreciate your attention to this build, but bumping the thread will not get me to finish it any quicker. Sorry, but I have a lot going on in my life right now.
