Tonight, i tried my hand at creating a set of exhaust tips made from styrene. I used two pieces of 1/8th inch styrene tube and two short lengths of 1/16th inch rod glued together. The rods fits into two holes I drilled in the molded chassis pan exhaust and the molded tubes have angle cuts made with eye-ball engineering. Now to paint them up! More Barracuda to come...

Tim, I'm glad you had checked! I just found them on the parts sprue you had mentioned. The exhaust tips have in the past been made with metal and I presumed they were metal again. I have spent the last half hour adding Tamiya Black Panel Liner to the chrome parts under a bright light and I am going blind. Time to go and make supper for the wife and I and the dog. Thanks again Tim! I hope to do you proud with this Model A!

Thanks David! I have made exhaust tips, but I have never flared them. I have cut them straight and angled using eyeball engineering. I do want to try my hand at flaring exhaust tips.

Thanks guys and special thanks to Tim Boyd for his excellent photos and encouragement! I will look through them again and again! This is the second time that something is missing from the box. I am missing the metal exhaust tips from my kit! The first time this happened was with the Revell '70 Hemi 'Cuda kit. I ended up with two packets of the same sprues and I requested the missing parts just before Revell got bought out. I got everything, but the correct hood (I got another shaker hood and I wanted the dual scoop hood! Doesn't anybody pay attention to what they are doing anymore?) and I got that from a fellow in my model club. Now, I am missing the exhaust tips from this Model A kit and I stole a pair from one of my '06 Mustang kits. Due to the pandemic, it would take about 6-8 weeks to get replacement parts. Is it me or is Revell screwing up big time?

Thanks Scott! The more I stared at the front of the Barracuda, the more I hated it! I don't like the poor fit of the grilles and the open ends of the lower grille header. I tore it all apart! The grille header will have some shaped styrene added to the ends and I will try to reshape the grilles and the grill header for a better fit! And, I thought I was making progress! More Barracuda to come...

The Build This is my new build, Revell's '29 Ford Model A Roadster and it features a McNally, Boston PI story called My Missing Trophy. The model will be painted with Tamiya Metallic Red body with Tamiya Pure Red wheels and frame, whitewall tires with steelies and hub caps with trim rings. The Story My Missing Trophy. The Back Bay Burger Joint has a weekly car show and McNally likes to attend when he can. Everyone who attends gets a ballot to pick the best in show award and those who bring a car in gets a ticket for the raffle which consists of 2 travel coffee mugs with the Back Bay Burger Joint logo or 3 free burger cards. The winner for that Saturday night was Paul Resnick and his '29 Ford Model A Roadster and he places his trophy on the floor of his hot rod and he goes inside the restaurant to use the restroom. When he comes out, he finds that his trophy was stolen. On Monday morning, he hires McNally, Boston PI to find his trophy. Mcnally will return...

It's getting there! I started adding the valances and bumpers. So far the rear is done and the front is being worked on. If there is a reason why I don't like old AMT/MPC kits, this is one of them! I have been stressing for hours on the grille and front valance since they don't want to fit correctly! More Barracuda to come...

I can't help you on the decals. The bonnet (hood) from the old Monogram Land Rover Series III 2-door may fit the hood hinges of the new tool Land Rover Series III LWB. -
In what vehicle did you learn to drive?

I learned to drive in my Dad's '71 Mercury Cougar and practiced in my Mom's '65 Buick Wildcat -

Thank you Phil! If and when you do want to build one, take moment and decide which version you want to build. License plate, seats and such. So many options! -
Thanks guys! No plans just yet for the headers. Propbably make them with solder or styrene or both.

I started foiling this afternoon. I started with the hardest areas to foil. The wheelwells, rocker panels and the rear taillight. The wheelwells alone took me almost an hour to do. For some reason, I keep hearing Heart and their song, Barracuda in my mind! lol More Barracuda to come...

The Story McNally spent a couple of days getting the harvest to market and he paid the workers. Most of the harvest equipment was maintenanced and put up for the coming winter with the exception of anything that was needed for chores. Angus was given driving duties to take McNally to the airport for his trip home and included a stop at the Police Station to say goodbye to his friend, PC Dunbarton. After arriving at the airport, Angus was a little tired and he would rest a bit before driving home to Alston-At-Harkness. Goodbyes at the flight line for the two old friends and McNally boards the plane for his trip home. After stopping over for an hour in Greenland for refueling, the plane lands at Boston's Logan Airport and McNally disembarks the plane, goes through the TSA check-in and Passport Control. With his luggage in tow, McNally grabs a cab and is driven home to Charlestown. Once in the house, he calls Angus to tell him that he was home and the flight was good. If Angus ever needed the help again, he was to call McNally first. The Build I have finished my Land Rover Series III LWB and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thanks all those who have viewed and commented on my WIP. -
Thanks Dan and Bob! I plan on building the current version with the gold roof, grille, steering wheel and the blower. A Hemi in a '55 Chevy is not something you see often and I get the joke in the name of the car.
-
This is my long term attempt to build my version of Mike Finnagan's Blasphemi. A '55 Chevy gasser that runs a 8.52 @ 161 MPH in the quarter mile. That's fast! Normally, I build everything else that is stock or mostly stock and this one is a Chevy with a Mopar 528 CI Hemi in it, so it might qualify as a build by me. I am still searching my parts box for parts and I need to find a satin black for the body which also has a flip front end. My thanks to Doug Estabrook for the kit! More Blasphemi to come...

The Story Agent Barchans of the NCA arrives at the Police Station and he is surprised to see Senior Headquarters Supervisor Peter Duncledge standing at the counter. Barchans demands to know what is going on and who and why was this person arrested for the murder of Alfred McCann. Duncledge explains the gold coin that was stolen from McCann, the found murder weapon with traces of McCann's blood on it, the attack on McNally at the Burrows Farm, finding Declan Thomas limping with some of the buckshot still in him and finding his camp. Declan Thomas had copped to the murder since he owed money to a loan shark and the loan shark had threatened his life and he was desperate for cash. He knew McCann had the coin and it would be good for some quick cash. Duncledge also cites that Barchans has had a bad record of pissing off County and Town Police officers and anyone else. Barchans is to return to headquarters for disciplinary actions. McNally turns in the Glock he was loaned with the box of shells that he never used. The Build The Land Rover is almost done! The engine is finished. The hood didn't fit flush until I lower the distributor. The vents for the secondary roof was fitted. McNally will return...
