  1. Before the chassis can be called complete, it still needs a handful of parts and a little of bit touch up, then some fuel and water plumbing. Next will come final body prep and primer. Enjoy.
  2. Here's one I can sink my teeth into.
  3. That's the direction I'm heading in. Thanx. Jesse, even though you're a Ford fan, don't let that depress you so much that it affects your building habits. MOPAR's are much easier to build. Kidding. I had to go there.
  4. Aaron, what a gorgeous build. So accurate, so right, so awesome in so many ways. I'm a Schumacher fan to begin with, but add some red, white and blue to a car and I melt just a little bit. Schweet!!!!!
  5. I don't wanna hijack the thread with more pics. Here's the original thread. I was going great guns on this puppy until I got sick a few years back. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=47698&hl=deora
  6. My first project is to find my winter parka. The temperature dropped to a mind mumbing 38 degrees this morning. Here's my winter project list: Working on Charlie Allen car at the moment. Hope to be done by the end of the month. Next, I'm resurrecting an old build to use as a transporter for it. Ignore the Chi Town Hustler and the current carrier section. After that, I hope to get back on the QuarterMaster.
  7. Not sure how to post this with a pic...... Found it while searching for the $25.00 price on the book. Lots of rides from the book AND great music from AWB. That's Average White Band, not Altered Wheel Base http://youtu.be/-UNyRum6PR0
  8. On the Charlie Allen car I'm doing, I used a '68 Dart grille where a '69 is supposed to be. To my way of thinking, it fit my vision of how to execute the images running rampant in my brain pan. In reality, it looks exactly the way I had seen it. I do lots of experimental stuff during a build. I just don't post ALL of the pics.
  9. John, you might not think it, but I loves me sum HEMI's. I've got a Revell '09 Challenger that I started giving the "Under Glass" treatment to. Too bad I've got other projects going right now. I'd love to get back on that. Shame you're going injected though. I also loves me sum blowers and the headers, like the pic you posted. Best of luck with whatever you do.
  10. Hi Folk. Still dealing with fitment issues between the tinwork and the frame. The frame has decided to shift to the right (left in the picture) and refuses to center itself. Part of the problem was (still) the blower doghouse. I had to do some cut outs at the front to clear the blower linkage, but that only partially solved the problem. The rollcage was still hitting the firewall by just a centimeter and that is also fixed. I believe the problem now lies where the firewall contacts the front of the cockpit. It's the only area I can't see right, even with a flashlight. So anyway, after I do some running around today, I'll get back on that. It's kinda funny and cool at the same time, but since I added the fuel block to the back of the blower hat, it sits further forward than originally thought. Funny because if I had seen that coming, I wouldn't have had to move the engine so far forward. Cool because now I have no choice but to do a windshield cut out and now it looks more awesomer with the hat sticking out like that. I also need to trim the front bottom of the windshield frame to clear it. On the bright side, I'm loving where the rollcage comes out of the back window. Enjoy the pics.
  11. Thanks for the nice words Dale. It's appreciated. I love your avatar. I think David Gilmour said it best. "Take a breath, Take a deep breath....". BTW, that's THE David Gilmour, not our Psychographic. Hi David The reason for deep breathing exercises? As I did the final tinwork fit with the loaded blower hat I discovered the kit designers never calculated the width and height required for a fully linked system. Actually, it's my fault. I wanted it "beefy looking" and now I'm paying the price. It's all good, just had to make a new doghouse. I started by making a template of the original, then made a slightly larger version. That's what I get for making a prediction on frame completion. LOL. I should know better. I'm just overly anxious to start on the body and paint. Thanx for looking.
  12. Couldn't sit still tonite, so I finished up the Blower Hat / Injector Lines / Fuel Distribution / Throttle Linkage / Return Spring Assembly. Also added some brass bolt heads. Still needs touchup paint on the rod where the right spring is attached. I installed spring loops / retainers at the back of each head. Right now everything is just sitting there, ready for sticky stuff and the linkage from the pedal to the throttle, which I have already made. I'm pretty stoked about now......... Enjoy and Thanx For Looking
  13. Working on the throttle assemblage today with good results. I finally decided how to do the butterfly rod. I took a piece of solder, then using flat nose pliers, squished the center leaving the ends round for the linkage to slip onto. I had planned on using PE throttle linkage, but the holes are less than a hair in diameter and don't behave well when drilled into. I also made some return springs. The fun part was making the fuel valve. I went with hex rod instead of round tube even though it meant drilling out the ends. It oughta look sweet in clear red. My best guess for frame completion is 2 to 3 days. See ya. Enjoy the pics.
  14. Welcome back Bill and so happy to see this build again too.
  15. Thanx for the WOW !!!!!!!!!!, Gordon. Hope you've got another one saved up. Here's the blower fuel supply lines. Not perfect, but better there than not. Enjoy the pics.
  16. Bring it Ray. I loves me some AWB's.
  17. Well, it's been an interesting weekend. Spent most of Saturday pondering on the fuel supply at the blower hat. Made 2 fuel distribution blocks that were way too small. Hope the one I have now isn't too big. Another slow down was final fit of the tinwork to the chassis. It clears the rollcage by a coat of paint. Managed to get the rollcage done and cockpit done. Next it needs wiring from the gauge cluster, hook up the throttle linkage and plumbing to the master cylinder. On a personal note, I'm finally making progress with the VA on my back problems. I'm still not where I need to be, but at least I'm no longer worried about my month-to-month existence. If there are any vets who are having problems on disability appeals, talk to your local Congressperson's office. Happy Veteran's Day to all who served both overseas and at home and to the families who make that happen.
  18. My grails come from 1966 and 1968/9. I recently built the first one. And I'm building the second one as we speak. Some assembly required. And modifications. And scratchbuilding. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=94233
  19. I can think of at least one reason. No roof hatch grooves on the left side to putty up. When I built the Hawaiian as a Jungle Jim car, I did that plus cut out a new, centered hatch. I like the rear spoiler better too.
  20. Get'r Dunn !! Pretty, pretty, pretty.
  21. Great looking ride Chris. Certainly up to your normal standards of awesome, rarefied subjects. Didn't realize Worthington Dodge was a sponsor. "I'm Cal Worthington and I'll eat a bug to sell you a car." Saying that while riding an elephant thru the car lot.
  22. It's Christmas!!!!!!! Chris, those parts look terrific and I have a feeling that those Mooneyham emblems are gonna pop. I hope you don't mind me saying so because I know how much time you spent on the blower parts, but the new casing looks crisper even without primer. If I had a nickel for every part I had to do multiple times I would haz a multitude of nickels.
  23. Just poking my head in to say Hi. I'm done with final fitment tweeks on the tinwork / bodywork and stance. Had to do some major shaving of the tin where it meets the front of the rollcage. I'm tied up tomorrow so I should have another update Saturday after I install the cockpit and rollcage. I hope to get the tanks and oil filters on too. After that, it's all about the plumbing. I also need to hit the body with putty on the rear spoiler, then it'll be ready for paint. WooHoo!!!
  24. Hi Jay and Thanks for looking. I always give paint a couple of days at least before I apply clear. I always put on one coat before applying decals to avoid silvering under the decal. I could have made that clearer, pun intended. The chassis is on display in my living room and I'm just waiting for the funds to get a new body. I used up 2 including decals. I have a different build going on right now. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=94233 Art, I thought you might like it. If I don't get another body in the next few years, it's all yours man...
  25. Now there's a rear end that means business. (Can I say that here? )
