  1. X2. To me it's easier to start with a lighter color and darken it. Weathering is a good way to do that too. I'll pay you my two cents worth in a month or so.
  2. There's only one thing I like as much as a vintage funny car. That's a phantom funny car. What a great job on both builds. I always look forward to your stuff John.
  3. Just over a month and I'll be feasting my peepers on the 8th Wonder Of The World. Regardless of completion status Chris, this is a sight to behold.
  4. I have a hard enough time with making headers. That looks like a plumbing nightmare. Very Nice Tyrone.
  5. You never cease to amaze Brother John. Infreakingcredible. You may want to consider tossing in a couple of life vests.
  6. So, um, is the car's sponsor going to be a plumbing contractor?
  7. Ira, you're amazing man. Voodoo FX oughta pay you for the tutorial. Or at least hook you up with some free goodies.
  8. Or you could have put a Hemi in it, you know, just to make it go faster. My bad. Couldn't resist. I'm ashamed of myself. So sorry. I'll go lay down by my dish. Bad dog. I wish keyboards had a "Delete" key or some way to fix .......... Tim, great build, mean stance, it just LOOKS right. Gratz on a sweet build.
  9. Holy Shades of Tasca Ford !!! They used the hi-beam ports for air induction, so using the fog lamp ports is genius as far as I'm concerned.
  10. Thank you Vince. I thought that pic with the decal might raise an eyebrow or two. Gene, I'm thrilled with the red too man. BROTHER MAN JOHN!!!!!!! Yes, it will be ready for DSC. Oh wait, you said 2015? That's this year, right? I dunno..... Yes, it will be ready. The question is, will the transporter be ready? I bought some Chartpak gold pinstripe in 1/64 for the top separation lines, but it might be too shiny compared to the stripes on the decals. Anybody know how to give it a "brushed gold" look?
  11. I enjoy breaks in my builds. Currently, I'm watching paint dry on my Dart body, sooooooo......... Just think how relaxed you'll be when the parts arrive. It will also provide motivation.
  12. Looking gooder and gooder. And if there is a rain delay, at least you can blame it on Momma Nature. Besides, it'll give you time to start prepping fuel lines...........
  13. I've built one of these, but it was box stock. Voodoo FX wasn't around waaaaaaaay back then. Can't wait to see her done. Wait, can a Cylon ship be a she?
  14. Thanx Bob. I forgot to mention that it's Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red. I think it's dead on too. That's a great build Bill. I've always known it was you in a reply from your avatar. Is there a link to more pics of yours?
  15. I'm thrilled to announce that shooting the second color was a complete success. There's some touch up done that doesn't stand up to close scrutiny yet. The whole thing needs to be sanded and polished before decal application. However, that didn't stop me from cutting out one side decal and leaning it up against the body to get a glimpse of things to come. Although the 3m Edge Lock tape did give a nice clean line, it only did so where it would stick. The tack is too low and does not stay down well. It required repeated burnishing. Slow but steady wins the race from this point on.
  16. I was in awe of the first pair. Then I scrolled down. KABLOOIE!!!!! Mind Blown. (Scotty to Kirk: "I'm picking up the pieces Cap'n!!!") And I wouldn't sweat any possibility of you running out of talent. Shocks have reservoir's, so do you.
  17. Gene, Tamiya pretty much IS foolproof. I am pretty much NOT. Hi Randy I'm thrilled with the silver and masking starts today during breaks in NASCAR. I'm using the decals for the top as a template for how to mask it. They are cut out, ready to go.
  18. It's times like this that I kick myself in the butt for being too lazy to drive 4 hours to come see this thing TODAY !!!!! First, you put as much detail into your modeling as you did on that BEAUTIFUL blue Cammy of yours. I just bought a 2015 Dodge Journey and I swear they both could have come out of the same paint shop. (Blue Streak Pearl) Next, my new favorite update. Overall masterful work. Waiting for the DSC is like waiting for Christmas.
  19. Got through about half the pics before it hit me. I'll be there. Don't wanna spoil all of the surprises.
  20. The nose grill !!!! The dash !!!!! The flying thingamabob !!!!!!! Wild, wild, wild. It just never ends with you Ira. I remember when you first started building flying cars due to another builder who inspired you. Well, you inspire us too.
  21. I only have one word of advice. Don't put your most attention grabbing paint job EVER on a build that is the most attention grabbing vessel to grace the waves. I bet your other builds are jealous..........
  22. Yeah, everybody knows only flames give more horsepower and speed. That and a REAL HEMI !!!!!!!!
  23. Bob Taber, aka bobthehobbyguy, brought this to my attention because I just started using one on my Charlie Allen build. Here is what I posted: "Thanks for the link and the heads up Bob. You got me thinking about fixes, so I just took a good hard look at it and the first thing I did is drill a "relief hole" in the top of the base. It is possible that air trapped inside the connection might be the culprit. If it's assembled in a cool room it's already under pressure, then hotter outside air may cause it to expand and "pop" the top. My connection is pretty tight and I'm very happy with it so far. Another fix I did is put large head screws in the four wire mounting pins so the wire doesn't pop off when I'm pushing them together to mount a body. I'll repost this on that thread."
