Molding lines?

When you need to do a rounded area, try wrapping sandpaper around various size drill bits. Use the shaft end of course. Works like a champ for me. -

Just a heads up Chris. Every time you sneak into Prudhomme's shop and take pics of his Top Secret in progress cars, you increase the risk of getting caught! I wanted to wait until I met you to tell you this, but this car redefines the parameters of how to super detail a basic kit. Anybody attempting to match you better be in for the long haul. You rock. -
Defective Testors spray
Nitrozilla replied to TonyK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will NEVER use Tamiya clear coat again. Love their colors, especially the way they lay down, but I just suffered my second (and last) disaster with the Tamiya clear destroying decals, most recently on my Charlie Allen build. Not as expensive as wiping out a pair of pants with silver paint but frustrating nonetheless. From what I've read on other boards, it is lacquer based and is way too hot for decals. I'll try the Testor's one coat and see what happens. -
1\16 scale Aurora shop with scratch built items
Nitrozilla replied to Leonard Aguilar's topic in WIP: Dioramas
That's good stuff there Leonard. Will you be bringing it to Best of the West on April 18th? I just ordered the 1/16 F/C drivers. They look good too. BTW, you only need "Las Vegas, NV" on your Location line. -
Henry J Twin Turbo - Didn't see that coming..........
Nitrozilla replied to Codi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I second that. -
<-------- Guess who's late to this party? After hearing Chris and Tim and others rant about your skills, I had to check it out. I was not disappointed. This build NEEDS to be finished. I hope whatever is keeping you away corrects itself. We've all had our absences. Sometimes we forget it's a hobby or we ignore it when we actually need it the most to provide stress relief and the solitude to sort out a jumbled issue. If you need inspiration, I give to you The Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader. Now if he's impressed, it must be something special.

Joe - "dragons'.....I'm going to take that as a compliment....you do know however that Godzilla was NOT a dragon. In this case, it is most certainly a compliment. And you're right about Godzilla too. Could you imagine if Godzilla had wings? That would make him second place though for devastation potential if he had to go up against Smaug. That was just my poorly chosen way of attempting to say if I put my builds up against yours, I might as well toss them in a wood chipper. Here, let me make it up to you: -
Thanx a lot Randy. Done or undone, it'll be there with a few choice other favorites. I look forward to meeting you and the rest of the Arizona Scale Autonutz. I made more progress on the ramp and bed diamond plate. Alrighty then, here is my approach to the hauling part of the hauler. I thought it would be interesting if the front of the ramp side had the same contour as the nose of the Deora. It will have an air dam between the sides that follows the shape of the roof. As a matter of fact, cutting the roof template is what started this whole thing all over. Ignore the big circle. That's a drag slick. Enjoy the pics.

When I decided to pick model building for a hobby, I wish somebody had warned me that there be Dragons out there. You Tim, are a Dragon. -
1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Nitrozilla replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Outstanding Chris. That's got that covered. Oh, wait, I mean you can wrap that up. You know what I mean. LOL, I use the same tapes. They work for any scale for blower straps, seat belts, parachute packs, etc. I wonder if we both hear the same clock ticking? -
I got more work done on the hauler today, but first, a recap of the interior. Only the interior bucket remains of the original kit and it was sprayed with Rust-Oleum Sandstone textured paint. The seats and center console are scratch built, including the (oversized) piston shift knob and the soda in the console. It still needs foot pedals. To give the ramp some angle, I took a cutting wheel to the rear quarter panels, then laid down a mock up piece of diamond plate. Next comes the side pieces and the tire carrier. Thanx for looking.

According to the math involved here, we've got 1 "Amazing" and 2 "Awesome's" The Awesome's have it !!!!!!! Brother John, we'll be testing that paint theory this weekend. I'm giving the paint every chance to dry so I don't leave an adhesive pattern in it. I found some new (to me) Rust-Oleum automotive tape that has a medium tackiness. Keep your fingers crossed. Got a lot of good work done on the Deora today, prepping it for primer, plus cutting out the tailgate and making bed plates for the bed and sides. It was pretty rough and although it won't be seen, I'll know it's there. Also cut out the rear fender wells to accept the ramp angle. Pics tomorrow when it's a little more cleaned up.

Here goes nothing. And then some. Total decal failure on attempting to use sheet panels. They curled up like a hot dog bun and no amount of decal set was going to change that. I have had this type of decal paper do this to me on smaller items, but managed to get them to lie down. Soooooooooo............ Now I've painted the whole body red and will give it some time to cure before I mask for the silver. I also got some 1/32" gold pinstripe. Now that I am going to do the whole car, might as well be bright. I won't go for the "brushed" look. Since I'll be watching the paint dry on the body, I thought I'd get something constructive done. Next is a test to see how long you have been a member of this board. I brought out the hauler to test some set ups. Anybody remember the stretch Deora? I believe I'll put a spoiler in front of the spare tires. Any thought would be fine. Enjoy the pics.

Thanx for the good thoughts Gene and Mike. Vince, I looked on ePay and there are none at the moment. I got some decals from Billy's daughter recently and they were great. Guess I might need to email her. Also, you made a cute boo-boo. It's Gooche, not Goochie. Today I'm going to cut out some templates in the red decal sheet I made. Looks like I need to make a couple of corrections first because the front is shaped wrong and the top of the back slopes down. Sigh.

There have been a few delays lately. I buffed the pinstriping before applying it and it looked fine. Unfortunately, it's coming off in favor of 1/32. Why? I was trying to match the decal stripes, but I'm not sure I'll be using them. The first one broke coming off the sheet. Next I sprayed a second one with Tamiya clear and it destroyed everything red on the sheet. I have spayed a clear decal sheet with red paint and I will probably use that by cutting out templates for the red panels. This will allow me to use the wider pinstripe on the whole car. I'm going out to hunt down a clear that won't distort the finish it's being applied to. I've also ordered 3 more decal sheets from Slixx. Hopefully, I'll have something positive to report this weekend.
