  1. I just used it on some stained ice cream sticks, aka, armrests for my Charlie Allen hauler. 3 coats and a buff. Oooooooo, shiney.
  2. I've always said it's wrong to cross Chevy with Ford and vice versa, but you can put a HEMI in anything. I noticed my area code on the party truck. If I see it at a local car show I'll put a note on the windshield.
  3. LOL. I was 14 in '67 and trying to figure out what the Hell putty was for. Keep up the great work.
  4. Darryl, glad to see you're having a good time. Getting close to the time for me to attempt one of your parachutes on this All American Bad Boy. Thanx as always Gene. Would you believe I still have room for more notches? Wait until you see the winch assembled. John, when you're right, you're right. It is nummy Bob, thank you for taking all that time. I know you had to make at least 2 coffee runs to get through all of my rambling. After seeing your start on the Mr. Unswitchable car, I would say your skills from the 60's have stuck with you. Anybody that can drill that many holes and live to tell the tale is okay in my book. Today's agenda includes the previously mentioned winch assembly, mask and shoot the Dart body and if I'm feeling REALLY ambitious I just might assemble the side mirrors and the spotlights. Ooooooooooo......... There may also be a surprise at the end of the day too. Stay tooned y'all.
  5. Show of hands: How many of you stare at your computer for 5 minutes in disbelief, only to need another 10 minutes to figure out how to phrase the indescribable beauty before you?
  6. Nice pulleys. Cannons are looking pretty good about now, huh? Nice save on the case. Wow.
  7. I've got this too and mine is a Flintstone. It's actually my next project after the Charlie Allen build. It will be a support vehicle painted to match the car and hauler. Good to know there is a hinging fix. Check in Tips, Ticks & Tutorials. I believe there is mention of a guy in Canada that makes all types of scripts in PE.
  8. So, this is what happened to my Puffer build. I need to check here more often. What a great diversity of skill you have Brad. I still wanna be you when (if) I grow up.
  9. Somebody has to get it right Bob. Thanks for taking the time and effort to honor the original as MPC should have done in the first place.
  10. Just got home from seeing "Home" and what do I find? Two of The Best of the Best paid a visit. Thank you Ira. Love the shades man. Raider Vette Rocks !!!!!!! Same to you Tim. You are spot on about John's creativity. Now if I can find a way to clone his Minions, I'll be all set. Sometimes this hobby makes me lose my mind, so, yeah. I think it's under the desk with a part that took 2 hours to make, only to disappear from the face of the planet. Possibly spirited away by Gypsy's. WalMart is getting on my last nerve. Stopped in to pick up canned air, had to buy a package of three. Wanted 6 sponge brushes; had to get a pack of 25. Wanted a small piece of glass to cut tape strips, had to get a picture frame with glass in it. Needed some 1/4" or 1/2" thick foam rubber sheets. (Johnn, you know why.) Had to get four 1 inch thick slabs. Looked for small magnets for the parachute packs; 1 closed, one open. Ended up with magnetic sheets. Finally, wanted a small bottle of Metal Foil Adhesive. Ended up with an 11 ounce can. Raise your hand if you know why my hair won't grow back.
  11. Thanx Bob. Silver is coming this weekend. In the meantime, I have a little treat. Made loads of detail progress yesterday, so here goes. The 1:1 has a pair of supports under the hood, so I got those scratched out and ready for paint. I shot Spaz-Stix Ultimate Mirror Chrome on bits and bumpers. I hit the winch frame and cable rollers, not to mention the aforementioned bumpers. Got side mirrors ready to install along with the hauler bed spotlights. I noticed a gap between the interior and the side windows that needed addressing. I thought armrests would be nice. I dove into my inventory of ice cream sticks and found a couple with decent grain. After shaping them, I soaked them in Mr. Detailer Brown Wash a couple of times, then clear coat. One more coat oughta do it. Enjoy the pics. Ooooooooo, Ahhhhhhhh, Wooooooowww, Preeeeety !!!!!!!
  12. Nice job on the sails Paul. Feels good doing something larger than cannons, right?
  13. We can't see the hours you've put in, but we appreciate the end result. For you Tim, you think so far away from the box that you have to build one to remind you of what a box is. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a Deora calling my name.
  14. Hey Paul, Hi there. That is a rockin' little boat you got there. (Yes, I know how to get under the skin of SHIP builders.) Actually, this reminds me of my Starship Modeling days before "You know who" steered me back in the right direction. Or should I say navigated? Speaking of which, I hope to meet up with you again in Phoenix. I owe you a ride in my new Journey.
  15. Hi Vince, . Thanx for saying so. More to come soon. Hola Sen'or Teresi. I'm feelin' it too man. Can't remember when a build has come together this well. I must be learning something from somebody, right?
  16. Woops. Clearly didn't think that statement all the way through. I'll be the old, bald headed, overweight guy wearing glasses. Better? Maybe I'll stand in a corner of the contest floor and yell, "HEY !!!! Model Cars Magazine Forum Dudes !!! Over here !!! " We'll figure it out.
  17. The exhaust system is unique to say the least. I wonder what the benefits and problems were? Plus it had Air Ride on the rear. Sweet. I'm glad you're tackling this Bob because it gave me an itch, but I've got 5 other projects all lined up. Excellent progress. You Florida builders knock me out.
  18. So aaaaaaanyway, I was thinking of starting with red and going from there. What do YOU think? One more coat oughta do it. I'm busy tomorrow, so I'll get the Dart body masked and shot with silver this weekend. I can smell the finish line. No, wait. SEE the finish line.
  19. If there was a river connecting your home and Phoenix, you could be there in, like, 2 hours. Fire that puppy up John. And don't forget the life jackets for the Minion crewmates.
  20. Since there's no link to an article about this, I'm going to assume this has something to do with it being the first day of April or some such deal. Nice
  21. So, um, yer saying he'd get blown out of the water, right?
  22. This will be my 1st also and I couldn't be more jazzed. I'll be flying. Taking the easy way. Had my tickets for months now. Hoo Yaaa!!!!! Hope to meet you and everyone else from the board who's there. I'll be easy to spot. I'll be wearing a blue Charlie Allen t-shirt.
  23. Still warping the minds of builders across the planet, eh Doc? I relish the times when I look at the first picture and it makes me do "The Evil Laff". You're the man Virgil. Mind blowing.
  24. Finally got around to shooting some parts and pieces. The ramps and bed plate are in glorious Tamiya TS8 red. Pics of those tomorrow after I shoot side 2. Now, let's talk about the body and hauler. I am totally pleased with the final result. The holes and cutouts on the ramp are for feeding the tire hold down straps. I only had minor clean up on a few places and I'll be shooting red on it tomorrow as well. Stay tuned and thanks, as always for looking.
  25. As long as there's no "1:1 " category in the contest, that would TOTALLY ROCK !!!!
