  1. Congratulations and may you enjoy many years and countless memories. I'm house hunting and just lost a bid on the perfect home. Back to the listings.
  2. Cool project Art. You lay out a project same as I do. Have fun with the lathe. When I get mine, my first project will be a very artistic looking pile of shavings.
  3. Superb artistry there Wayne. Your builds never disappoint.
  4. Great color choice and application. I really like it.
  5. Must be something in the air in Colorado........... In this case, THC stands for Tiny Handmade Contraption. This alone puts it in the running for a Best Interior nod. Glad to see you back on it my friend. Don't get any flux on that shirt !!!!!!!!
  6. Alright everybody. Settle down a little. You've lost focus on the truly amazing wonder of engineering here. This time it's not about Tim's totally rockin' fabrication skills. I wanna know how you came up with the idea of using a piece of aluminum stock, some tape and a swab container to make a jig !?!?!?! Unlike you and John T, and Chris S, I only have ONE Minion and you almost gave him a coronary. He passed out and after giving him mouth to t-shirt resuscitation, when he opened his eyes, this is what he said...
  7. Here's my guess. 1952 Pontiac Chieftain Station Wagon. Like this one:
  8. I loves me some off the wall MOPAR's. Great concept Rob. I'll throw an idea out there for the hood dilemna. Since you're doing a '67, how about a scoop from that same year? Shorten, resize or mutilate as necessary. It might look cool to have a short scoop starting at the back of the carbs. Something that makes you wanna' say, "Now that ain't right, but in a good way. I wonder what's under there?" So, for your consideration:
  9. For what it's worth, Motorbook gives it 5 stars. With over 300 pictures and a cost of about 20 bucks, how can you go wrong? Edit: Feel free to convert that into pounds.
  10. I like the recess in the floorpan for the driver's feet.
  11. And now to answer the burning question, "Where Oh Where did Zilla get off to?" Nowhere. Still here. Hello. I've been doing a combination of polishing the model and house hunting. Definitely having more success with the polishing than the hunting. I might even be able to show some results soon. The paint is looking much better and I still have some striping to cut and shoot. So hang in there folks.
  12. So if I understand you correctly, you got Dave's SUPPORT in order to STRUT your stuff, designing the BRACKET so you didn't have to WING it? In my opinion, humble or otherwise, YOU are the machine what is machining this contraption. The final pieces will, no doubt, be flawless Tim. Hope the hand is fully recovered. You're gonna' need it for shaking hands during award ceremonies.
  13. Ray and Gene, I appreciado mucho. It was a pleasure and an honor to serve. Many life lessons I learned in basic and tech school are still with me today. Art, my one desire is to be able to compete, not just show up. I've said this before ad nauseum, that it's an honor just to have my stuff in the same room. However, it's time for me to get with the program and start knocking out some killer projects. I'm done polishing on the hauler ramp. Tomorrow I'll polish out the bodies on the Dart and Deora, then it's on to clear before decals and stripes. Also, I think I'll shoot new stripes that lean more toward yellow than gold. Just like Chris on the Vega. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Thanks all for sharing in this wonderful journey with me.
  14. Thanx Friends. It made me feel good ALLLLLLLL over my booooody. (Johnathan Winters aka Maude Frickert) I've entered this model in 4 different shows and it never placed, so what better way to retire it? I appreciate you posting the pic from GSL Danno. Why didn't I think of that? Okay, back to the subject at hand. Today will be mostly polish work, then on to striping.
  15. Thank you Gene and Tristan. I appreciate you following along. I should be back on it tomorrow. Allow me to explain today's sidetrack. As most of you know, I fought the VA for 5 years to get my disability benefits. This was done through the office of Congresswoman Dina Titus' office when things got out of hand. Final resolution was reached in December last year. I was contacted by her office a couple of days ago and was asked if I would help with a promotional video. Since I was not allowed to buy my representative flowers or buy the staff lunch, I jumped at the chance to pay them back. We shot the interview today and it went very well. At the end, as I got up from my chair, I heard a woman's voice say, "That was excellent Mr. Goss." When I turned to thank my fan, there stood Dina Titus. I was floored. I thanked her for having a team who actually cares and takes action. As another gesture of my gratitude, I am donating the U. S. Dart model which will be displayed in a case with a plaque in her office. Yes, I'll get pictures. All in all, a pretty cool day.
  16. From one Joe to another, I like your style.
  17. Whoa Brother John. Missed this yesterday. Warn a person next time with the un-selfie already. I freaked the first time I saw it and you didn't warn me then either. Brother Chris, that is what is called award winning craftsmanship. Period. Well deserved.
  18. Um, Scott, thanks for taking my joke. Now I gotta come up with something else. Good one. So, Tim, how's the han.............oh, wait. darn. What a great looking piece and assembly. Personally, I wouldn't stress over infection or gangrene. I say lose the glove, get some goop in there so you can build up antibodies and enzymes and goop killing amoeba's and stuff. Man up. Jeezaloo.
  19. Too beautiful and too funny at the same time. I just picked up some carbon fiber decals from a vendor. So THAT'S what you're supposed to use it for!
  20. Hi Robert, it was a pleasure meeting you at GSL and I am truly sorry I missed your seminar on resin kits. I can attest that the smoothness of the resin, topped with the outrageous design is what attracted me to it. I'm actually looking forward to the work required to complete this monster. Thanks for your email address. It's mine as soon as I get settled into my new place next month. Maybe it'll be on sale???????
  21. Thanks Randy, it was great to see you again. Danno, how do you stop smiling long enough to get serious work done? You helped make the auction the hilarious event it was. Gordon, glad you like it. I'll be redoubling my efforts to put this one on the road. Folks, my visits to the San Jose NNL and DSC showed me I need to step up my game to be competitive. GSL showed me how to do it. My knowledge of paint techniques tripled thanks to the input from an army of concerned friends. Kinda' like hanging out with DaVinci, Picasso and Rembrandt. Hangin' with John Teresi is like being around Andy Warhol. He could put wheels on a soup can and take Best Paint. I'm going to have to get as much done in the next couple of weeks as I can because I'll be packing to move at the end of the month. That's when the real fun's going to start. Today I'll be putting away all of the new toys and tools. Tomorrow and Thursday I have personal obligations to fulfill. (Okay fine. I have to catch up on Long Island Medium and Game of Thrones and the Avenger's movie. Happy?) I should be back on it by Friday. I still have to hit the ramp with more Novus polish before laying down the pinstriping. To paraphrase Jungle Jim, "Model building is faaaaar out, man!!!!!"
  22. Chris, the awards you got were well deserved. The judges got it right as far as I'm concerned. Bravo Buddy, Bravo. Same goes for Art & John's work as well. It was a pleasure to be on the same table with all you Looney Toonz. Great pics in the Contests & Shows post too. We'll talk soon. I'm not wiped out like I was after DSC. Just disorganized and still playing catch up. My carry on bag weighed an extra 10 pounds from literature and vendor toys.
  23. Hey Tim, I'm back from GSL and the FIRST thing I thought of was to check to see how your surgery went. Right after I posted in my own GSL thread. And checked my pm's. And responded to them. Then I got a Pepsi. Oh, and I had to scratch myself. But I digest. I sincerely hope that all is well and you get back in the groove soon. Best Wishes, Zilla
  24. Hi JB, I just missed your question as I was posting. One of the constant annoying questions I asked was how many entrants and entries there were, just before registration closed down Saturday. Head count was 100 + and entries were 352. I can't believe it took them over thirty seconds to get me that answer. Some people! (You folks ROCK!!!) While not overwheming by some NNL and other major contests standards, IMHO what mattered was the sheer energy in the room generated by our enjoyment as we gazed upon some of the best work this hobby has produced. Picking your favorite in each class was like filling out a Basketball Playoff Bracket. I've been aware of the GSL for a very long time and finally, at the age of 62, LIFE finally cut me a break and let me sneak in almost unnoticed. Competitors who build exclusively for this show may disagree, but it's the MAGIC for me. Heck, I thought the photographer who took pictures of every entry was going to look at me as I placed my car on the turntable and just shake his head. Even he probably knew better. Speaking of photogs, a shout out to Jim from Scale Auto Enthusiast and Darryl Gassaway of MCM for the recognition of my Mazmanian Gasser and U. S. Dart. I'm honored guys. As far as non-entrants go, there were other conventions and meetings taking place in other parts of the hotel and many of them asked me, "Are you with the model people?" Huge numbers were in the room on Saturday, but I don't think anybody was doing a head count. On the issue of knowledge to the general public, I'll leave that to Mark G and Family. If you can make it in '17, I'll introduce you to all of my new friends. Should only take a couple of days.
  25. First things first, glad to see so many people responded and especially thank you Scott for posting the pics. Secondly, I want to express a deeply heartfelt thanks to Mark Gustavson and his staff. Actually, they are more like an extended family of lunatic geniuses, who never failed to answer my constant annoying questions. Next, I want to thank MY extended family of John Teresi, Chris Sobak, Art Laski, Vince Nemanic, Scott Hess and countless others who all put up with my idiosyncracies and never failing to answer my constant annoying questions. So what's my overall opinion of the event? It's like taking the Seven Wonders of the World and putting them in the same place as all of the Disney parks, and GoodGuys shows, topped off with an NHRA Championship. There were no disappointments, while there were some missed opportunities that were no one's fault. One of those was, due to a minor shuttle accident on the way to the museum for the next to last trip, me and some others were unable to go on the last run. Everybody lived and so will I. No injuries either. The highlight of the trip was not the competition on a personal level, as I was taking a knitting needle to a Light Saber battle. The one person who made the whole event for me was meeting Jim Keeler. As long as I'm making comparisons, the only thing that could come close would be Don Garlits knocking on my door and saying, "Would you like me to show you how to detail a Hemi?" Jim, you are an amazing man, but you already know that. At least I hope it stuck. I told you enough times. Jim pulled a Jeff Gordon on me. He thanked me for asking for his autograph on the magazines he signed for me. Class. Pure class. So as I process this sensory overload of the INCREDIBLE builds, I will now try to honor them by creating future projects that will be able to stand toe-to-toe, instead of merely wishing I could. Finally, I am at a loss for words to express my gratitude to the alumni of the Fisher Body Craftsmen's Guild for their unconditional love of building models and their attempts to preserve the past in their efforts to find a permanent home for their creations and contributions to American history. That history and the history of the GSL was my sole reason for attending and it did not disappoint. See y'all in 2017. I better get busy..........
