  1. Hi Harry. It's a matter of budget vs. time. The piece of BMF I have to work with is 3" X 4". It might not have made enough strips to finish and I can't afford more until after the 1st of the month. As far as time goes, I needed to finish this for confidence purposes after the Hawaiian Disaster. I could have said that since I burnished the dash to knock down glare that I should do the same for the windshield, but the truth will have to suffice.
  2. ....and one more.
  3. She's ready to tear up the streets of Gotham. This has been a really fun build despite snap related issues. I wanted to do the cockpit window trim in BMF, but went with hand painted silver instead. Still have a little clean up to do. BTW, the coffee cup is a coincidence. Thanx for looking.
  4. I've finished this build. Pics are in Under Glass. Thanx to those who followed.
  5. Very nice Mr. Brett. Your builds are always awesome. I'm using the same chassis to do a Charlie Allen car that will be posted when I make some progress on it.
  6. Best update EVAH Chris. Now get the body on it's stand, put everything in a fabrication shop diorama and call it done. Or keep working on it for a couple of years. Your call.
  7. Thanx Slusher. Rolling chassis is done and body work has started. Installed the headlights and headlight screens. Can't see the lights unless you shine a flashlight directly at them. To make up for the lack of detail, I put a piece of screen in the nose vents. One minor detail I forgot to mention earlier was the use of a piece of coiled wire to replace the kit provided Batphone line. The rocket launcher tubes looked out of scale on the pipe thickness, so I drilled them out and painted the tips red. Next on the agenda is doing the trim on the windshields. That'll be fun times I'm certain. After that, only a dozen parts to put on and done. Thanks for looking.
  8. Quickie update. Interior is assembled, as are the wheels and tires. Good thing I wear boxing gloves when working. Snap kits really put up a fight.
  9. Jonathan, start digging. I'm having fun. Seth, thanx for checking in. Got a little more done. Except for touch-up, I think I'll call the dash finished. Decals for the Detect-A-Scope and the Compass are basically useless, so I cut up some mylar confetti with my hole punch. Then I mixed up some 5 minute epoxy and put a drop on the compass, a drop on the steering wheel center and a glob (Whoops!!!) on the Detect-A-Scope. Also worked on rear console with fire extinguisher. Lastly, trimmed the wheels and lug nuts with clear red. Thanx for looking.
  10. Going back to basics to regain confidence in being able to complete a model here. It's not an attempt to build a totally accurate car. Just havin' some phun. I've had this car in my stash since the day it hit the shelves. Probably oughta do sumthin' about that. I started by flocking the floor pan. I shot black paint on that area, then flocked with Ken's Kustom Fuzzi Fur. After it sat for an hour, I brushed off the excess, then shot a light "setting" coat over that. There's a lot of details requiring hand paint to do before assembly. I used a Sharpie red paint pen to do the seats, door panels and dashboard. If I did it right, should be able to see the headlights behind the dry brushed clear covers. As far as the dash is concerned, I've always thought that the glare off of that shiny chrome would be a problem, so I went with a burnished look. Lots of decals to do. More to come.....
  11. Checklist: 1 - Styrene 2 - Drag Slicks 3 - Hemi You may proceed........
  12. Thanx for all of the advice and encouragement Everybody. Aside from the Pure Love that I have for this hobby over the last 50 years, these days I build to fight depression. When something like this hits, what I normally do is step back, take a deep breath, then take on something I feel will be less of a challenge. Sounds like the easy way out, but I do it to restore my confidence in my abilities. I have a couple other projects that this has happened to. Anybody remember the 8 wheeled Deora? The more recent quad blown Charger? Those builds are simply stalled, as is this one. The plan now is, build a snap 66 Batmobile, (already in parts prep), get back on the Charger, then finish the Deora to haul the Charger. After that, I should have the funds to get a 1/16 resin topless Vette for the Hawaiian chassis. Used all of my Hawaiian decals, so I'll have to come up with a new theme. Again, Thank You for your concern. I don't do "Quit".
  13. I love seeing anyone have success after my Hawaiian disaster. That trunk is a beautiful addition to what will be a show stopping build.
  14. Sad news boys and girls. Body #2 has had the same clear coat problem as the first one. The first one was a lacquer clear, this one was acrylic and it did the same thing. Only 2 common denominators are: Me, because I'm the one holding the can, and the decals where the pitting starts. So I'm going to have to wait until I can afford another body and decals. Might be a while for that since the VA and I are still going rounds. I'll take the rest of the day to decide what my next project is.
  15. Didn't I just see a comment that somebody made saying something to the effect of not getting 12 to 15 models done per year? Looks like a model unto itself to me Chris.
  16. Your father truly was a role model. Your build is beautiful and an awesome monument to a great relationship. I'm almost done with mine after a break away from it, so I empathize with you on the kit's shortcomings. Revell can do better.
  17. I love the early A/FX cars. Simple, Clean and Mean. Yours is one of the nicer ones. Congratz on a well executed build.
  18. Um, Chris, you've built 12 to 15 models this year. All sub assemblies for the Vega.
  19. When I grow up, I wanna build just like you Brad.
  20. You forgot Wow, Wow, Wow and WOWIE !!!. I can see how your mind would be boggled by the Wowness of it. A joy to watch Codi.
  21. You're welcome. Glad to oblige. It's been a rough week and with that as my only excuse, I'll be back on it tomorrow after the Saints game. I've got most of the decals on, so that gets finished before I attempt clear again. No more Lacquer clear for me. Need to get an airbrush so I can do 2 part urethane.
  22. I just want to know one thing. How do you mount a blower on it?
  23. Saw that puppy burn to the ground at OCIR.
  24. And now it's really, really red. Hobbytown was out of Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red, so I went with TS-49 Bright Red. I thought about other colors when I was deciding on what Plan B would be. Silver was my second choice, but I guess I still wanted red. Tomorrow is a couple more coats and some clear before I start decals.
  25. This is gonna' rock. Always a good day when Ira starts or finishes a build.
