Thank you all for the kind words. This is fun so far and I hope to get a lot more done today. I am not sure which one would be good for a custom. On this particular kit you would have to cut off the message board sign supports and fill in the roof rack parts the legs sit in. It wouldn't be hard. Maybe there is a kit for the first car. I think polar lights did one of these too so maybe it has some smoother roof tooling. Thanks again everyone

Aston Martin Db4-1/25 Revell Monogram Update-May 14, 2012
Railfreak78 replied to simonr's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Simon this is simply amazing buddy! Thanks for showing how you do things and sharing your talent with us. -
UPDATE 7/30: Ok so here are the pics with the fins painted. I do need to clean up a couple spots but for the most part they are good. Also came out smooth. I did start the bmf today and wow does this beast take a lot. I have one side done around the windows. I still need to do the trim on the fins themselves and other details and wrap around to the other side. I did get my grille wash done. Might need some touch up too. I am happy with the progress so far. I also was lucky enough to get the ends switched back on the big white tank so I can hook it up right. More to come and Enjoy!

ANYONE USING KRYLON PAINT ?
Railfreak78 replied to ROY AVERY's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I use Krylon cans all the time. I prefer it now. The newer nozzle is nice. Granted I'm in the hotter part of the country so its always warm and normally good to go outside and shoot it. It takes a long time to dry when humid but that goes without saying. The only one I have tried and will not buy again except as a base coat is the chrome. It comes out a bright silver. -
Today my free model fairy struck again and so when I showed up at work this was waiting for me. Hobby Lobby has it for $20 my cost FREE woohoo

Looks awesome! I agree with the brakes and rust and all but I'm glad to see the headliner hanging down too. Great all the way around.

This is going be my thread for cool Fords ( and sibilings like Mercury, etc ) I know some pictures will be blurry and no there are no settings cause it's a cell phone. Some will be good ( I hope ) From my better camera. Anyway this green LTD I am starting with gave me the idea since a few of you guys have a kit of it. Comments and such always welcome. Enjoy!

Very small update. We have been getting hit on and off with Monsoon storms the past week and a half so it's been way to humid to rattle can anything. I finally had time to mask and paint the red stripes on the sides. I let it sit for a couple days and it's not to bad. The BMF will cover most of the areas that are a touch over. Here is the mock and I'll add pics tomorrow of the final hopefully with some bmf done.

Looks a lot like something else on the workbench right now. Good luck with yours

These are looking really cool. Great idea and clean work. I only wish I would have thought of it first

This should be good. I can't wait to get a kit like this so I'll be watching yours for sure.

What's ur favourite build?
Railfreak78 replied to cazxr2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would have to say this would be the one I'd save. This was my first major kit bash using 3 trucks a tank, another truck frame, and a lot of misc parts. I put a lot of work in this build and this truck also helped me realise my child hood dream of doing well in a big show. Cool topic -
I have been wanting these Zingers for a while now and this just made my itch worse. Great take on it with the custom touches. I love this build

The billboards are awesome! Nice wheel choice as they show off the awesome brakes well. I also agree on the grille too. Great build.

Thats it? I've seen better. I think you should have taken your time on this and maybe done a small amount of scratch building to make it look a little more real. All joking aside my friend If EVER they decide to "Pin" a project yours should be pinned in the tips section because I think we all could learn from what you have shared and you didn't have to share the amount you did. You do the hobby such justice and I can't wait to see it for myself up close and shake your hand.

1969 Plymouth Barracuda notchback
Railfreak78 replied to Marc @ MPC Motorsports's topic in Model Cars
Looks very nice. Maybe I'll have to get one to sit next to my regular one. I like the color combo and the over all look. Seems the rear end needs a little detail in the red area but that is my only suggestion. The body and build are great Marc -
Why exactly do you post?
Railfreak78 replied to bigmikevee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here is the reasons I post. I started doing models when I was a kid. I have been picked on and worse. Along the line I met a few other kids that make models. Frankly our kits were terrible but we enjoyed them. In my early to mid 20's I had about 200+ kits destroyed by someone mad at a friend and the guy thought they belonged to that friend. I was out of the scene for a long time after that. My friend started to build again and met Marty on here ( Tuffone20 ) and got me back into the hobby. I am now part of a club and realised right away I was in trouble since my cars still looked like when I a kid. I post to get feedback good and ( Not bad ) we will call it positive. I have taken HUGE steps in under a year and I want to help encourage others to do so as well. This place feels like a big family. Even though we are all on different levels of talent I strive to get better and post to thanks those that give me ideas and post to maybe help the ones just starting to let them know there is a middle ground. -
How do you display your builds
Railfreak78 replied to kobuzz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This year is the first year of having completed models since a large collection of mine was destroyed. This is all I have but one more kit and I will need to buy another case as well. I found this at a yard sale and has a light in it. Here is what I've done since december and a few more are close. Even if I don't have room the drawers under this part, will keep them in storage and dust free. The glass part lets some in but not a lot. -
Stinks to have to toss it in the pond but it's great to hear about the job. Congrates!!!

Thanks guys. Mark thanks for the info as well. I had no idea. Maybe I got lucky with this one as my tank is mixed with brake fluid or just got lucky period. I didn't leave it in a long time either I just kept hitting it with a tooth brush. There was a couple indentations on the front doors I did not remember being there and covered with heavy paint so I think I pulled it out JUST in time Thanks for the heads up before I do another one.

I like your take on these kind of trucks. Looks really good so far and I can't wait for the next installment.
