  1. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Now I have to admit I am torn between a custom and a stock work van. I was an electrician for over ten years so it would be cool to make one like I used to drive. Or a plumber truck. Or a wild drag van..... Oh boy Next step I am going to attempt and may very well decide it based on how it comes out is I am going to install the channel for an opening slideing side door. You guys all have great ideas and thanks again
  2. Hey buddy I never had any with this junker either. I'll ask around my club though maybe one of my guys has one
  3. I started back in on this car today after it was in the purple pond. I got it down to bare metal then primed it. It has a Kylon chrome ( comes out silver btw ) base coat with a candy type of green with several small coats. I'll get the name of it later, I left it at work. The first picture after paint is a mock up with the front tires only from the donor car and then a picture with the rears to make this a pro- touring or pro street style. I had to modify the frame and interior to make these puppies fit in the wheel wheel. I also modified the wheel wells. The last few pics are with it actually mocked up and BMF started. I messed it up on a few spots on BMF and will have to redo them. So Hot Wheels fans I hope you like it so far. More to come
  4. Here is a small update of what I got done today watching the Nascar race. I finally sanded it down ( not fine) and got some primer on it to hit the bad spots. I also have something planned for this critter that I have never done before and pray it works but thats a different day. I have a lot of work left to do but this project is not sitting still. Enjoy
  5. Hey Kevin if you venture into outside the shop and want to model the grass/weeds/driveway/etc I suggest Woodland Senics. Mostly common in model railroads but very useful. I have had the same thoughts and just Really looked at the supplies this weekend and was rather impressed. Plus I have seen many good layouts with it I just have not tried it yet.
  6. I like the direction your going with on the colors but before I saw the cracks in the second pic I thought the paint looked really thick on the roof. What did you use? I wonder why it cracked that bad. The build itself is awesome. Remember before stripping if you do so that the purple pond will remove body filler. If you have any on the roof I'd suggest sanding it. The style looks great.
  7. All the guys that have been rebuilding Hot Wheels lately have sparked my interest. I have desided I am going to start with this being I love wagons. Here are my "before" pics and it is apart and in the purple pond right now.. Enjoy!
  8. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone would know if there was a kit out there for an International or a toy I could modify to make this rig. This is my dads. He is an owner/operator for his company that hauls fly ash. I'd like to attempt this truck but I do not know much about big truck kits to know what I'm getting into. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  9. I have a mixture of favorite Rigs. From Heavy duty class with pick up cabs up to full blown newer style 18 wheelers. I grew up with my dad being a truckers and a good friend of mine. As a kid I loved riding around in a cabover. (International, Kenworth styles) But looks wise I have to give it up to the conventional. The long hood begs to personalised. I know your talking stock but you can do so much. I drove a Peterbuilt longnose (359) with a 3rd drop axle on I-90 and that was a blast. Old schoolers I like the trucks that resembled cabs you could have on heavy duty trucks such as the movie "Duel". Old Peterbuilts and Macks had this look. I also had an old Ford like this red one that I wanted to make look like a baby rig Cool topic! Here is one of my dads current trucks and Duel and the old Ford.
  10. Hey Jim I haven't called yet since he is closed on sunday but he has 3 kinds. Coarse, medium, and fine. A suggestion though is when I came home my wife asked "Why didn't you tell me you needed nail files?" and hers are the same shape and she bought them at Walgreens.
  11. Jim I got that at a local hoby store called Andy's. I'll give him a call and see where he oreders them. He sells them for $1.29 each so if anything maybe I can get some and send them
  12. Sounds like people should build models and stop expecting everyone to be perfect. Don't like a model? Don't comment. People that do like it will. Want to offer advice? Do it well like... Hey I like the color on your car but it looks a little rough.. What kind of paint is it? Maybe let them explain it. The deduction that people only want praise from using lines like " this is the first time I tried.... " Is crazy. I did that with my 1st BMF job on my Cuda but I certainly did not ask for people that did not like it to say they did. If anyone thinks I do something wrong I'd like to know like Highway said. So I don't do it again. Then again I can take it too some cant. This is just my 2 cents lol. Oh and speaking of.... Why did you guys NOT let me know I had the ends of the big round white tank on my ECTO-1A flipped around on the wrong sides???? I count on you guys
  13. No one is more tired of, or less impressed with, Orange '69 Camaros than I am, Must not have seen Tuffone20's Under glass or while it was on the workbench
  14. I think the main thing that turns me off is the tractor set up. And it's not done right like cleaned up. The front bumper is falling off and such. Years ago here in the Phoenix area there was a guy in a lifter pink Caddy hearse on 39's ( I think. They were to skinny to be gumbo mudders) and his drive line was like a barber shop pole lol. There was also a guy with a show quality 72 Chevelle on 44's and a guy in Prescott area with a 67 Mustang on 39's. I like the look if they are not "thrown" together. Now me: I'd snatch that body and make a hot rod hearse out of it . I actually do like the direction the truck is going though.
  15. Since I LOVE hearses and Caddys I will not mention what I want to do to that owner. Gregg will ban me. This is also coming from someone that Loves cars on 4x4 frames as well.
  16. Thanks for that link Brenton That was perfect. Sad to see it sitting there along good lord knows what else besides the sister car. Very good pics of the inside so thanks again.
  17. Thats a very pretty gold. I love it.
  18. Here is a sneak peek at my 5,000+++ Hot Wheels and Nascar collection. The round case has Redlines, Real Riders (original series) and other limited ones. Maybe this will give you some inspiration E.C.
  19. I gotta get one of these kits. This is looking great Chuck! Nice weathering too!
  20. Still cool though and gives me refrence pictures for the inside
  21. Seeing Cranky's thread reminded me of this project I started. This was supposed to be done for my club meeting on Camaro but I was no where close and had never started the thread here. I'm glad Cranky reminded me. This is just the start as I tried a couple new ideas. I want to turn this into a small diorama. Burnt, rusted, shot, just like you would find them out in the remote areas of the desert here in AZ. Enjoy.
  22. Beautiful classic!
