Nice looking build. That is a great looking box on wheels just the way I like it.

I thought by now we were supposed to be able to beam around the world and other planets. It's 2010 I only say this cause I'd go bid on these beauties in a heart beat! Great work Ed

Nice! It reminds me of some of older cars that I saw race at my local dirt track as a young kid. When everyone was doing the Camaros (late 70's early 80's) my dads boss raced an old Fairlane or Galaxy and there were a few old junkers that beat up on the little faster cars. Nice model and nice work.

Sweet info on decals and such. I'll be starting Days cars and a Jeff rookie Lumina soon. I can't wait to see more builds

Those came out awesome! I'll have to try that on mine. I have a whole bunch of Nascar kits coming up soon.

"The Wraith" 77 Chevy Corvette Custom
Railfreak78 replied to Car Crazy 81's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This is a great start. Looks like the old Eckler Vette kit style vette. That rear end is 1984 style grafted to the older vette. Just an observation. Nice movie topic and cool car! -
Sounds great! I liked having it here. This is good news

I just found out on Facebook that Kurt is going to be pulled from the car and put in a sister Penske car. Brad K will take over the 2. Kurt will be sponsored by Pennzoil. Grrr Kurt has ran great the last few years and deserves the Blue Duece! Sorry I figured any Kurt fans should know.

Nice! I like the color and the wheels. Nice to see one done up as a normal car

For those of you who compete......
Railfreak78 replied to Karmodeler2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only competing I do is with my local car club. I did shortly attend the GoodGuys spring national and had a couple cars in that. Desert Scale Classic is this saturday and will be my first big really judged show. I have wanted this since I was a kid! I will enter maybe 5 cars with no expectations. I love the atmosphere and eye candy. The only thing I would change locally is extended classes and on a larger level is my workmanship I must learn BMF cause the paint I do looks like junk compared whats around it -
The only thing that really bugs me about a lot of "Pro" builders that sell online is that when I see them here ( there are a few ) or elsewhere, is that they do not show in progress pics. There is no proof they built it. No proof of what it really is underneath. It could be a great build or one that has an engine from a toy. Then as mentioned want a lot of money for it. Seems fishy to me. I love eye candy and I saw one certain build by a member here I really wanted to buy until it went to high and then that was when I thought to myself wow no build for it.

I grew up with a car with that same front end just sitting and staring into my back yard. It was American but not a muscle car I do not know this one but I can't wait to find out!

1/16 Dukes of Hazzard Charger to be Reissued?
Railfreak78 replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I grew up watching DOH and have only build one General and someone destroyed it. I want all the DOH stuff. And really others can move past it and make large scale "normal" cars out of it. Heck I might get 2. Make a General and make the one on TV with right side drive and all modern running gear. -
I have all 3 of the Days of Thunder cars too but do you guys know if they (Anyone) made decals to do the SuperFlo pink and white car or the Exxon black car> I really want to make all 5. Nice work on your builds I'm a Jeff fan and that looks great. Also I'll say life is funny, I used to boo Bodine in that car and now he is a hero with the bobsleds I root for year after year. I hated that truck crash he had cause nobody deserved that. Now I'm a big fan of him too and would love to make that car some day and his old #7 Exide. Cool cars keep em coming!

Sweet! The header idea sure looked like it worked out for you. It will be nice to see this come together.

Fox Chassis (Ford) community build anyone?
Railfreak78 replied to whale392's topic in Community Builds
I'll have to dig in and see what I have I'm in I have to figure what to use. Also dumb question... What body is a Ford EXP? I know it's not a Fox but what is it? -
SuperMike, On my Sub-Urban I used a mix of very thinned black and not thinned rust to make a wash I brushed on it. In my pictures it photographs almost as red as the red does but it does not look like in person. Also on my zombie car I used clear turn singnal amber for the rust dripping down from the bullet holes. I know a lot of guys here use chalks and pastels as well. All I have is Model Master

What is or was your CB handle
Railfreak78 replied to Nick Winter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I grew up around CBs. My dad is a trucker and when I was a kid it was still popular here in Phoenix. My parents still use them in truck (obviously) and base and some friends too. I have 2 cbs and I need an antenna to get it going in my car. I think I have a couple short fire sticks. Anyway as a little kid aroung 8 or so I named myself "Leader One" Lets see who gets the show that came from? When I hit 17 I had 3 cars and the only one with a cb was my 77 Towncar and the cb fad had died. Channel 3 had a lot going but one jerk had a very powerful base and ran off any new guys. This sparked a war and he tracked me down to my work. The color of my car was a dark copper style almost metallic brown and he named me "Driftwood" as an insult. That backfired cause I spend so much time at the lakes and rivers that I was like hey nice that makes sense! That made him more mad. Then a friend took a Linear (?) and keyed up and blew his tv out. He never ran us off again. Now I keep Driftwood and actually like it. I hope to be back on cb soon and I'm going to get the old channel back that was great here. That was 7
