  1. Thanks so much! I've put a lot of love into the car so far, but it does still have a long way to go. I do live in the states, Connecticut to be exact. I see you're in PA. If you want a look at the car, I'll be in Carlisle for the Ford Nationals this year.
  2. This is a really neat idea! I'm looking forward to project pictures in "The Workbench" if you've got the time to take/share them!
  3. Yeah, it's a beautiful build, though I believe it's in 1:18 rather than the 1:25 I'll be building in.
  4. The specific car in this picture (if the wheels are correct) is a 1998, which gave it 195hp out of the 2.5 DOHC Duratec V6. Half way through 1998, Ford began using the "Extrude Hone" process that the cars were so famous for, bumping the power to 200 even. The 200hp cars (known as E1s vs. the E0 pictured above) are distinguished by the updated "mini-Cobra" wheels. The cars were not the absolute fastest thing on the road, but they were very, very quick, and the chassis was unbelievably good. You are correct that they (in true SVT form) only came with a 5-speed, and they got between 25 and 30 mpg mixed. While Duratecs are silky smooth and they make absolutely wonderful noises, they're not known to be terrifically fuel efficient. If you ask me, that's a small price to pay for such an awesome engine.
  5. Forgive me if this si a repeated thread (I can't imagine it isn't), but after searching several phrases, I couldn't find a thread asking everyone what they actually drive. We've all shared our model cars, now let's see your full-scale cars and trucks! Mine... We specialize in modifying European cars, and are known for our unique, high-quality exhaust work. . And here's how the car sits in the winter time, on 15" "basketweaves" off of an '87 Merkur XR4Ti and 195/60-16 Hankook Optimos. Even at this height, it's darn near unstoppable in the snow!
  6. Hey Everyone, I'm working on a Revell Ford Escort Turbo Street Machine kit, and would like to kitbash it to make my own version of what a MKIII Escort should look like. So far I've found the Technoracing TV-R wheels (Fujimi), Recaro Trophy seats (The Parts Box), and some awesome Weber side-draft carbs (The Parts Box) that have all either already been ordered or are soon to be ordered. Now, I've still got a list of parts that I'm looking to purchase if they are made, and would like some help on where to find them. I'd be happy to make any purchase in either resin or plastic, and would appreciate any tips or hints you might be able to provide. Thanks so much! -Fender flares -Side-draft carburetors (not Weber) -Side-draft individual throttle bodies -Ford Sierra RS500 spoiler -Ford Escort RS Cosworth spoiler -15" BBS RS/RM wheels -Hood vents What I'm looking for is European tuner/hot hatch parts. Though some of them work, all I'm having much luck with are Japanese and American-style tuner parts. Thanks so much for any and all help! Regards, Matt
  7. Oh no! I put this in the wrong section! SO sorry!
  8. I'm finally getting back on the horse several years after my last scale project, which was a dual-quad 454 swapped into a Revell '66 Chevelle wagon. Please excuse the terrible pics... And now my current project, the Revell "Escort Turbo Street Machine" kit, from all the way back in 1981. Plans are to lower it significantly, add some Fujimi wheels, paint it root beer brown with textured trim, possibly kitbash with a Revell Escort XR-3, and possibly swap in the engine from the Revell SVT Focus with a pair of Weber carbs. If I do the engine swap, I'll save the super-cool "TURBO" decals for another build. Here are the wheels I just ordered from "Tokyo Hobby" on eBay tonight. I was thinking about sourcing the Webers from The Parts Box, part number 2053. I've seen that company mentioned several times here on MCM, and was wondering what everyone's general feeling towards the company are. Positive? Also, does anyone know where I can find a set of scale fender flares? Also going in are a pair of Recaro Trophies or more modern Corbeau seats I have laying around, the brakes from the SVT Focus, and some sort of custom exhaust setup. If you've got any other ideas, I'd be glad to hear them! Thanks for reading, I hope to have the first progress pics up this weekend. Here's a build that will be serving as my main inspiration: Regards, Matt
  9. Unbelievable! What are your plans for drivetrain and suspension? All stock?
  10. Apologies for the bump, but I HAD to tell you how cool this is!
  11. LOVE the use of a carbureted Cologne in this build! I'm assuming those are Holley/Stromberg/Demon 94s?
  12. Dead thread is dead. Just wondering if any progress has been made. Love this build!
  13. I disassembled the Barracuda, as I decided to use the drivetrain for other projects.
  14. That's one of those that just makes me chuckle. SUPER cool!
  15. Woah mama! This looks like a Riddler winner!
  16. WOW. That is somethin' else! One of the cleanest builds I've seen!
  17. Looks great!
  18. This is one of the coolest threads of any kind I have ever seen. VERY exciting stuff!
  19. This is an extremely exciting build. I can't wait to see it finished!
  20. WOW. That's a top-notch build!
  21. The last of the fox T-Birds, and the last of the Lima-T motivated T-Birds, at that! Wonderful build, I'll be watching...
  22. That is SUCH a clean swap. 100% beautifully done.
  23. Sorry, I'll try to dummy it down for the more basic guys next time. Thanks for all the links, guys! I appreciate all the help! I've searched for ever, but since I prefer plastic models, I ve kinda forgotten about 1:18 over the years. Again, thanks!
