  1. sweet I love that look, good use of an extra body!!!! great job.
  2. David, it would have been rough riding!!! LOL. No real updates except i figured out what I am using for brackets for the bumpers...
  3. Made a trip to hobby lobby and came up with these cool pieces that I will put in a trailer behind the pickup and make it look like loot from the tombs...
  4. As always top notch material!!!
  5. Thats a good point as well and I agree, good reasoning from all that has commented on this point, and a lot of ways to view a finished product. I to strive for the most accurate you can build in a kit I guess it just boils down to ones building techniques and experience I guess...
  6. See, especially in this economy, that speaks volumes on the business structure itself, do they really need to do that especially in your case with a kit later bought on ebay? No but they do it to keep happy customers, happy customers makes for great future sales, (in my opinion only as Im sure there may be other reasons behind giving away free pieces). Just incredible!!!
  7. I know when it comes to buying a new kit it will be revell for sure, even there quality is better than most, in the domestic realm that is......
  8. Well either way its a hobby and some strive for the ultra tricked out (down to the last bolt) like rivet counters in the military hobby, or to just have fun with how a build comes out. Looking back in the old mags from the 60's-70's model car science and car model they were totally off the wall and (if real) would never move but they had loads of fun.... Lets face it its a piece of plastic and I lean toward building a more realistic representation of the real car the model is trying to portray but some peoples skills are more advanced than others on this forum and others and when i see things that do not look realistic on a build do not even think about it, it does not matter to me as long as the builder gets one thing out of it. enjoyment. I am striving for more detail and realistic endeavors and as my skills get better so do the builds. Either way have fun with it, its a hobby and i would be lost without it Ill tell you that, keeps me out of trouble....but also keeps me wanting to make the next build better and more accurate than the build just finished, not wanting to start any trouble and please no adverse responses as opinions (as every opinion on this thread) vary from every individual, this is just my take on our wonderful hobby and I mean no disrespect to any one, just saying that models come out the way they do due to level of expertise, and as a former model club member would say model on..............
  9. Yup I think they have great customer service, I just found out, I bought a Revell of Germany 1/16th scale Kafer and my body seemed warped to me so i dipped it in boiling water to try to straighten it , but it melted real bad, and as you can see on the left body i tried to bring it back and make it useable, but lost the windows and the lip of the engine bay would not match the engine lid. So I wrote (via email) to revell and explained that I did the damage but inquired how much it would cost to order a new replacement body. They never responded to the email but low and behold about a month and a half later a new body shows up in the mail! I did not expect to get one free but now i can throw the junked body out and finish this baby. That is AWESOME customer service......
  10. all the gamer pieces I have assembled for this build....
  11. I decided it was time to get on the designs for the interior and started to do some drawings, then drew them on the door panels, floor, and back of cab. Its hard to make out in the photos (will be easier to see after primer) the designs are actually being carved into the foam. On one of the photos you can see on the floorboard some shadows from the carving but once im all done, all the black lines will be carved in the foam.
  12. got some more done tonight, finished the other door panel now doing some detail work around the faces on the right to copy on the left, recessed a gamer piece and added some jewerly pieces on the piece that goes on the front of the bed, making a frame/hitch for the bed, working on the hood ornament as well....
  13. It is a nice kit and can not wait to see what he does with it, my hobby lobby has had this kit on the shelves, (not the california wheels but the trucks version) for quit some time, if you can use the revell trucks version and have a hobby lobby close check em out and remember to use the 40 percent coupon or there new app for smart phones to pick it up.
  14. Rethinking the boombox on the front of trailer, will probably just use gamer pieces and forget the speaker box...
  15. Found these cool pieces for this build that I have to figure out where they will go on the vehicle.
  16. Thanks guys for all the comments............. Found these pyramid shaped items that will fit just right on the tailgates on the truck and the bed where it bulges out a bit.
  17. This one has totally been put on the back burner,as the Aztec warrior has taken over all of my modeling time, however, its not all lost im hoping to get back on this within the next week or so. Hopefully even sooner.
  18. rack included to boot to keep them organized as well. nice haul....
  19. Making a straight axle for the trailer so it looks cleaner without a differential that would not be used, and came up with an idea for a differential cover for the truck itself, to try to keep the theme going underside as well.....
  20. This is the last thing that I should be doing but have had this idea for a while and while shopping for more gamer bits came across a piece i could not pass up that added to it so I bought it and will start this now.....Not sure if it will stay a 50 chevy, may try a 55 ford pickup but this 50 model gives the general idea i have for the truck, may add a trailer, may not, time will tell.. still working hard on the Aztec Warrior but re inspired by Egyptian treasure gamer piece i found today....
  21. Picked up two more 1/16th scale vw kits a 1/25th tamiya vw and some 1/72nd scale messers..................
  22. Thanks James.... Hoping to have some real progress updates soon, i need to start pulling all the ideas together and get some color going soon........
  23. Randy they are from a gamers store that i go to a lot to buy what they call bits, there parts left over from games like warhammer4000 and games like that i get them for like .5 cents a piece and try to fit them on models, the smaller one in this pic is how it came, and i cut it in half and added a longer piece in between to give it some length. Thanks Mike.
