  1. welcome back! 50-50 is not bad considering we all have same to be alive at any given time. good luck !
  2. you guys are writing books! I could do that I guess, but this sums it up in short for me. I build models because I love cars, love the people in this hobby and I don't worry about impressing anyone. I have always liked working with my hands and by building models I get a sense of pride. I also build more than ever because it's the one thing that doesn't get me in trouble with the law, doesn't put others at risk of anything and doesn't make my wife go nuts worrying what time I will be home....I am home all the time, unless I go to another modelers house or car show.
  3. '53 looks cool with the mags and whitewalls! No need for a million other threads, but why not post your stuff up on the workbench? Just a thought. ps , might tell your mechanic to put the valve covers on correctly or it's gonna smoke a lot.
  4. I enjoyed seeing the article, but would rather it be on cars too. BUT I am not complaining. I am A-OK with some oddball stuff to look at, God knows we have seen a lot of car modeling done on the internet and in the magazine...so it was a nice change of "reading material". Above all, I was really happy to get the issue as it was my first in my sub! I usually miss out on a lot of the issues, but not anymore! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! MODEL CARS MAGAZINE ROCKS!
  5. I guess the red rims and radials make this a rat rod. what do you plan to do that is wild and whacky?
  6. I have to admit, that is just amazing! Parts come out of it assembled and working! Man if I had one of those, I would make lot's of kits too!
  7. might check this post out http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...=17437&st=0
  8. actually it's quite a bit more than tail lights...just trying to help. take a look at the whole body....everything is different. 67 65
  9. thanks, it's in the pile of backburner projects, so I am sure you will finish before me
  10. cool project, these are tough kits to build and make look nice. with all the hub bub over the engine, guess mine would irritate some too hehe! by the way....I am a FORD guy, but this little cutie needs a HEMI in my opinion.
  11. I guess it depends on the era you want to capture in the mild custom. If you want to go old school, steelies are best choice. If you want to go for an 80s (just example) look, then the rally wheels be just right. Then again, late 60s too but they were not a common love in them days.
  12. dang this is cool as heLL! <----double hockey sticks The chop with fenders and that engine makes it stand out big time!
  13. I am ready for your progress captain!
  14. You will see a lot of it here on MCM, but if you are looking for Traditional old school kustomizing, you might check here too. http://thedpmcc.com/trak.html
  15. Well I can't remember who it was now...but they did a how to of redlines with a compass. You could do white walls or blue or gold also. (they were around) If I ever run across the link again I will let ya know... Bob Sifferd I think was the one that showed me.
  16. I have redlines from the old AMT kits , but they will melt rims over time. I will still use them though hehe! You can also paint redlines with a compass. I am doing this "real time"...going to look for the link to how to, and will post it when I can find it.
  17. I was going to say the same thing......looks like a HOT ROD to me too! Too good and cool to be a yuk rod.
  18. Looks like a heck of a time, will try to make it one day.
  19. hmm....sounds like at that time I was in South Dakota still. The winter storms were horrible and I was at the BHSM show helping and people still came in 12 below with blizzard. It's not that bad here, for anyone wants to check and see....one of our local news channels has weather updates. http://www.ketv.com/index.html By the way, I have received a ton of emails wanting fliers and more info. To me this is a good sign, so I think it's gonna be a bigger blast than last year!
  20. Tom, you know it just drives me nuts when I can't find something....so hours later, here ya go! From R&C.
  21. I am pretty sure it's the same car. I like it too other than the billet wheels. put some wires from the AMT Riviera and it would be slick! I think Rik Hoving might have more pics , maybe even Dave Lindsay? http://members.fotki.com/wackydave/about/ http://public.fotki.com/Rikster/
  22. hey Bryce, good to see you here! Now these guys can drool a little more.
  23. and the Golden Globe award goes to...... Very cool and creative kustom Bill!
  24. Very cool Gregg! I talked to Darryl tonight and he said it was a great show. Looks like some great memories formed for you!
  25. I just want to say that Ariel remembered me asking about his Merc wagon a couple months ago and took the time to PM me so I would know he has them ready. That is great business practice in my book!
