  1. thank you harry. much appreciated.
  2. door cars, to me, are by far THE most difficult drag cars to build. while the corvette taught me alot, this car humbled me. getting things to fit correctly in a door car is just a VERY humbling experience. any way here's my 1982 camaro outlaw 10.5 car. not your run of the mill engine. this is a 11.9" deck 4.84 bore space big block chevy. olds style pro stock heads, split dominators, 1 stage of juice. dry sumped. not a killer player piece but, one that could run at most tracks. billet wheels and hand machined tires scratched bruno / lenco trans. brass chassis scratch 4 link/ strut susp. package
  3. here's my third build. nostalgia AA/FA. i love the older stuff but, with a modern flavor! 417 donovan with all of the modern trimmings. i'm really quite proud of this engine. i spent months researching and gathering data and dimensions so i could build a "pretty close" example. this has to be one of my all time favorite motors!!!! scratched B&j trans and scratched strange top loader rear billet wheels brass chassis. this build i tried to take my detailing of the wiring , fuel and cable-ing systems a notch higher.
  4. mark, thank you. i'm sure you could pick up metalworking in no time. if you ever have the chance, you should. it will change your life. cato, i learned soooooo much on this build it wasn't even funny. first, i learned that stainless steel is NOT something you want to build a 1/8 scale model chassis in. the second thing i learned was, the time investment in scratch building at this level is INCREDIBLY high. these projects take literally years to produce. third thing i learned was, the measure twice, cut once thing..........is WAY true. last, build what you love............cause you're gonna be doin' for a while!!!!!!! hehe. every build for me is a transition into the next. i always try to do something i haven't done on the last model to push myself into that "uncomfortable" zone. hopefully, i'm getting better.
  5. next is my nostalgia top fuel dragster. blown big block chevy billet christman rear billet wheels brass tube chassis hand formed aluminum body AOL of car about 35"
  6. just thought i'd post some of my old builds. some of you might enjoy looking at them. my first 1/8 build. some of the highlights were: tig welded stainless tubing chassis my first billet aluminum engine, bell housing and lenco transmission. my own billet aluminum wheels unfortunately, this car did use R.C. tires.

  8. thanks to all of you guys for responding!!!! much appreciated. mitch, nope, the wheel isn't supposed to be that way. i made an error in my calculation at the bottom of the spoke and i thought i could live with it. hehe. turns out i can't. i started a new set of front wheels earlier in the week. they will be black anodized (instead of being painted black) and then the spoke details machined. so, they should look as good as the the real ones weld produces.
  9. i am working on them for my own personal use. they'll be in 1/8 scale. mike to get that effect correct you must anodize the piece first and then finish machine it. painting it will never look "correct". i am probably going to redo the front welds on my 1/8 pro mod camaro that way. black anodize and then machine the inside edges of the star.
  10. a very good friend of helped me out with some decals for the rims. these things turned out PERFECT! i love 'em. those decals really make the rim, i think.
  11. steve, thanks! killer is just what we're goin' for. james, thank you! henry, thanks a bunch! chris, thanks a ton buddy! rg jr., thanks! the springs are hand made from .008" stainless wire wrapped around a 00-90 bolt.
  12. WOW! the paint is spectacular!! the paint on the inside of the panel is better than the outside of mine. are you kidding me? looks fantastic chris!!!!!
  13. chris, i think your tires look perfect. if any one here has had to push anything on the surface in many of the pits or in and out of the ramps on a trailer they'd appreciate the larger wheel. i know some guys run little tiny wheels on their carts. some guys don't. if i was on your pit crew. i'd love ya for thinkin' about the guy who has to push that cart. hehe. here's a shot of peter gallens cart.
  14. front drives. billet behind belt cast behind belt billet in front of belt.
  15. i found these 2 shots in my files. these may help with the belt situation. this has a mechanical fuel pump that is belt driven as paul described. i'll find you some of the front mag drives that paul is also describing.
  16. joe, let the inspiration move you. hehe. thanks. joe b., thank you !
  17. allen, i'm guessing you mean an electric pump that is mounted to the block? are you aware that you can have an eletric pump that is in line or even mounted to the radiator? that would ease your problem of running a mechanical pump off the front of the motor. just as an fyi. front driven mags and such are generally driven with a belt (sometimes enclosed) not a chain. the alt. can be driven off a mandrel bolted to the front of the crank. if you need pics. i'm sure i have some somewhere.
  18. finished headers.
  19. congrats on the nice clean model room and all the new equipment, joe!!!!! you're in for the time of your life. learning to machine your own stuff is such a liberating experience. machining is just SOOOOO much fun. wheels look like you're off to a great start. i am truly excited for you!!!!!!!!
  20. glad to help henry. thanks bob! i know i've been called worse things than artsie, so.........hehe. chris, thanks buddy. tucker, if anything i do inspires you or anyone, then posting here hasn't been a waste. mike, thanks! glad to here you're back on the vette. in case it matters to you. the chassis in this build is a 25.1e spec.
  21. truly VERY impressive work jeff!!!!! this is just an incredibly good looking pro mod body.
  22. chris, your attention to detail is incredible, to say the least. seriously nice, clean workmanship. can't wait to see more!
  23. joe, thanks. henry, much appreciated! leonard, thanks buddy!!! anything new on the camaro? dave, thanks for checking in. i appreciate it!! scott, glad to hear that. thanks!!!!!!!
  24. i got the time to air brush the headers. for not being the artsy type i think they turned our o.k.
  25. chris the body cart looks great!!! many of the carts i see, have larger air filled tires since the pits aren't exactly the smoothest surface to be rolling on.
