  1. joe and jeff, thanks so much for the comments. i'm a little late, i know but,.......... still working on all the front suspension / steering pieces. the front struts needed steering arms so i carved a pair up and put receiver grooves in the struts for them.
  2. derrick, hopefully your being sick wasn't serious. hope you're feeling better. great detailing!
  3. maybe i'm just a little prejudiced here but,.................that looks pretty darn good to me!
  4. here's a picture of a blanket for a lenco 5 speed. you'll note the the reverser has it's own separate blanket in this application. also to the side is a carbon fiber tub for under the trans. there is a manufacturer's label as well as the mandatory sfi label. you'll also note on this blanket it is equipped with lifting straps in between the 2-3 and 4-5 sections.
  5. i ran across this in my photo's today. it's not what you're asking for but, maybe it will at least help. this is a shot of a restored (i think) grumpy's toy monza. it's not the camaro and it's certainly not the reher morrison car.
  6. if there is anyone who can do this. it's you, chris!!!!!! great reference photos too!
  7. now, let's see if it sinks in.
  8. hey, outlaw 105, scott, mike, greg and henry. thanks guys. sorry for the lack of a reply earlier. outlaw 105, yup, they're pretty big. it takes a long time to build them. awesome amounts of fun. greg, glad you're back at the bench and of course i don't mind if you borrow the pics. henry, clint and chris, thanks a ton guys. dave, glad you like the way i mount the front hubs. it allows me to set the front end geometry and then build the chassis to meet the strut. scott, it probably wouldn't be to hard for most of you to solder the gussets in. i have a problem with shaking at times. the fitment of the gussets is as tight as i can make them.
  9. what's fascinating to me ACE. no one is making this personal and it's not going away from the specific topic. i'm simply replying to the comments about it being frustrating and tired of answering the same questions over and over. i would agree it's lazy and stupid to ask the same questions over and over.......if it were the same person asking. unfortunately it's not. see the difference? by the way your second statement makes no sense at all. i've read the pinned tutorials too. i'm certainly not saying that removing them was the smartest thing i've seen. i'm simply saying IF YOU DON"T LIKE PEOPLE ASKING QUESTIONS OVER AND OVER............DON"T ANSWER THEM!!!!!!!
  10. i agree with tyrone and the chassis jig is a great idea.
  11. you bet it is ace. so are asking questions BEFORE you waste a lot of time looking at a bunch irrelevant mumbo jumbo. if you guys don't want to answer questions, for goodness sake, DON"T! your lack of answering won't change the world. there is no one here who's advice is SOOOO important or so good that not answering will mean a hill of beans to anyone. if any one thinks they have to have ace-garageguy's (or any one else's) advice. they can either request you answer personally or they can send you a PM. then,.........you can CHOOSE to answer or not. just do us all a favor. STOP complaining!!!!!
  12. fabricated and mounted the upper strut mount gussets and front motor plate mounts. also started to assemble the rear wheels.
  13. this is the style strut mount that all of the pro stock and pro mod cars today are running. basically, it allows the ride height / corner weight to be set without playing with the spring adjustment on the strut. you'll notice there is an adjustable cup in the upper mount. if you want or need more explanation, just ask. there is more than one way to mount the assembly you are looking at.
  14. there are quite a few ways to mount a strut front end. are looking to replicate something specific or are you just looking to make any ole' strut mount.
  15. very nice job of cutting out the hatch chris. i would have a ragged edge and 2 bleeding fingers by now. can't wait to see the next step.
  16. am i really reading this? at least 5 of you, consider yourself to be "the" answer man. now, i here you complaining about answering questions? new people come and go. they want to feel they've had a voice in all of this. so yeah, they ask redundant questions. by the way, answers can change. if answering questions is getting old,.........maybe you're getting too old?
  17. here's a shot of twin McCullough super chargers feeding an early f.i. base. here is the engine LDO is referring to. hope this helps.
  18. scott, sorry to hear you dropped this. if it makes you feel any better, i've done it myself quite a few times. hope it's all repairable! you progress looks fantastic. i still find it hard to believe the great detail you acquire in such a small scale. amazing!!!!!!
  19. thank you guys! i'm glad if anything i do is of any help at all. so, i had this motor sitting in the chassis. i couldn't help myself. i had to put the intake on and the trans in, to see how it looked. the manifold is a skosh high and the nitrous system is a little big but, at this point it is what it is. i can live with the errors. sooooooo, i have this car sitting here and i previously built a sonny's hemi motor for another project.........you can see where this went. maybe we'll have to build another one of these later..............or not! hehe.
  20. had to modify the front motor plate from my original drawing. i figured i was taking a chance and i might have to. it was still very close to the needs of the chassis. while i was at it. i added lightening holes to it. from the side veiw the engine location shows to be about perfect. the real deal.
  21. looks great mike! now if i can just convince you to do 1:8 scale bodies. hehe.
  22. thanks guys. spent some time drawing up and machining the front motor plate.
  23. thanks mike and henry. spent some of the day out in the machine shop making the frame mounted clevis' for the front control arm and the battery cutoff switch. i had a friend of mine make these superb photo etched pieces. i asked him if he wanted me to tell you guys who he was but, he didn't want me to say anything at the time. if he'd like to chime in and say something he certainly can.
  24. i'd take any of the '60's -'70's era muscle cars. especially in 1:8 scale.
